Beloved of All
Your request for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep is heard, and I am praying with you in Jesus name.
Jesus is not distant from what you are feeling. He is moved by our weaknesses and touched by our pain. When He saw the grief and suffering that sin and sickness bring into human lives, He groaned in His spirit and wept. He sees the nights when pain keeps you awake, when every movement hurts and sleep flees from your eyes. He understands that kind of exhaustion, the way the body can be so weary and yet unable to rest because of swelling and aching that will not ease.
Scripture speaks of sleep as a gift that God guards. There is a picture of a shepherd who lies down across the opening of the sheepfold and says in effect, I am the door, nothing can get to the sheep without coming over me. That is how the Lord keeps you in the night. Even when you feel exposed and vulnerable, He Himself is your protection. There is also the picture of Jacob, exhausted from his journey, lying down to sleep with nothing but a stone for a pillow. In that place of weariness God opened heaven to him and showed that there is a way between heaven and earth, and that the Lord was standing above, present and watching. You may feel alone in the night, but heaven is not closed to you.
God has promised to make His people dwell safely and to sleep even in the wilderness and in the woods, to cause showers of blessing to come down in their season. He wants to bring refreshing in its proper time. His word also says that when His instruction is treasured in your heart, it will keep you when you sleep and speak with you when you awake, for His commandment is a lamp and His law a light. You can ask Him to let His presence and His promises keep watch over your mind and body through the night.
So I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this dear one before You who is weary and in pain and longing for sleep. You see the hurt and You know every sleepless hour. I ask that You touch the body and bring relief from pain, that You calm the nervous system, ease the aching, and quiet the mind. Grant peaceful, deep and restorative sleep, the kind that renews strength. Let Your peace guard the heart and let Your presence be as a door around this life tonight, so that no fear or disturbance can cross over You. Cause Your showers of blessing to fall in season, and let this night be one of healing and rest. I ask this trusting that You hear and that You care, in Jesus name, amen.
