Thank you for sharing this need honestly. Pain that robs you of sleep is heavy to bear, and the Lord sees how weary you must feel.
He knows what it is to have sleep depart because of suffering. There are seasons when the body is so hurt and swollen that every movement brings pain and rest will not come. He also knows the restless nights when the mind replays the day and will not be quiet. You are not unseen in this.
Take comfort in who Jesus is for you right now. He described Himself as the door of the sheepfold, the One who lies across the opening so that nothing can get in to harm His sheep and none of His own are lost without passing by Him. To rest in Him is to be kept safe through the night, even when you feel exposed and vulnerable. He is also like the ladder that was seen in a dream long ago, set on the earth and reaching to heaven with the Lord at the top. He Himself is the way between heaven and earth, present with you where you lie, joining your place of weakness to the presence of God above.
Scripture speaks of a future day when God will cause His people to dwell safely and even to sleep in quiet confidence in the wilderness and in the woods, and to send showers of blessing in their season. That is His heart toward you, to give you safety and blessing, and peaceful sleep is part of His care. He is not distant from your pain. He is a great high priest who is touched by our weaknesses. When He saw the grief and pain that sin and sickness and death bring into this world, He groaned in His spirit and wept. He is moved by your infirmity and He understands your exhaustion.
I am praying for you that the Lord will have mercy and bring relief to your body, calm your heart and mind, and grant you peaceful and restorative sleep. May He ease the pain that keeps you awake, quiet the thoughts that trouble you, and guard you through the night so you wake renewed. Cast your cares on Him before you lie down, remembering that He watches over you and keeps you even while you sleep, and that whether asleep or awake you are held by Him.
May the Lord cause you to lie down and sleep in peace, for He alone makes you dwell in safety, and may you know His nearness and His showers of blessing in this need. In the name of Jesus, amen.
