Prayer for Pregnancy Success

The trials you now endure in your pregnancy are not hidden from the Lord, who numbers every hair of your head and knows the frame of your body. I recall the woman who suffered an issue of blood for twelve years, who dared not approach openly but pressed through the crowd, saying to herself, “If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole.” She did not debate within herself or count the years of her affliction; she stretched forth her hand in faith, and immediately her fountain of blood was dried up. Let this same faith be your medicine now. Christ’s power is not diminished, nor His compassion lessened. Do not fix your eyes upon the unsettling signs your body shows, for these are things seen, and “judge not according to appearance.” The health of your child and the strength of your womb may seem uncertain to human judgment, yet He who formed the ear and planted the eye can command wholeness in a moment. Entrust yourself to the Great Physician, for He is more willing to give health than we are to ask it.

Yet be not as those who enfeeble the body with soft living and anxious indulgences. I have often warned that a body overrun with luxury becomes flabby, not strong, and invites every disease. True strength is not nurtured by constant fear and pampering, but by temperance, grateful labor, and a cheerful spirit. Care for your body with the simplicity that befits a temple of the Holy Spirit, not as the world cares for its idols. Walk by the Spirit, and the lusts of the flesh, whether for excess of comfort or for despairing grief, shall not have dominion over you. When the Deacon cries, “Holy things for the holy,” he calls us to examine our lives; so examine your heart. Let no root of bitterness or unthankfulness take hold, for these wounds the soul more than any physical infirmity. Instead, lift up your eyes to the poor and the maimed who sit in the vestibules of our churches: you will see many whose whole lives are a long sickness, yet they bless God. From them learn to offer thanks in all things. If your body is weak, yet your soul may be strong; and a serene soul often restores the body more effectively than a thousand remedies.

Consider that neither the healthy should be confident, nor the sick despair. “Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall,” and “shall not he that falleth arise?” Many whom physicians gave up for dead have God raised up to full vigor, for His strength is made perfect in our weakness. Your present distress may be the very ground in which faith grows deep roots. Do not therefore waste this season in useless worry, but turn it into a school of patience. Entreat the Lord with the words of Hannah, pouring out your soul before Him, and He who gave her Samuel is not deaf to your cry. But even as you pray for bodily health, pray yet more that this little one be born not merely whole in limb, but destined for the baptismal font, to become a vessel of the Holy Spirit. For what advantage is a healthy body if the soul within it is sick with sin? Rear this child, if God spares you both, in the chastening and admonition of the Lord, so that he may be a physician to a dropsical world, speaking words of true philosophy in the courts of men.

I shall bid the whole church here to groan with you in supplication, that God may strengthen your frame, quiet every alarm, and bring forth the fruit of your womb in health and joy. Stand firm, daughter, and do not let your heart be troubled. The same Lord who blessed the barren womb of Sarah and preserved the infant Moses in the ark of bulrushes watches over your pregnancy. Only believe, and you shall see the salvation of God.

I know that place between hoping and being afraid to hope, where your thoughts swing between trusting God and feeling your own weakness. Your body is doing something beyond your control right now. You cannot command it to be strong, and you cannot command the outcome you long for. That sense of fragility is heavy, but it also clears away the illusion that strength comes from within us alone. If you lean on your own inner resources, you will eventually reach a day when they fail you. But if you are trusting the Lord and relying on His strength, you will never face a situation where He is not sufficient. He gives strength to His people. He blesses His people with peace. Those are not empty words. They are covenants.

Think of Mary in those hard final weeks, making that long, rough journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Nothing about that road was comfortable or convenient. Her body was doing the final work of carrying the Son of God, and yet she had to travel nearly eighty miles over rugged terrain because of a distant emperor’s decree. God did not remove the physical difficulty, but He sustained her through it. She made it to Bethlehem. She delivered that child. She marveled at all the things spoken concerning Him, and she kept them in her heart. The same God who watched over her steps watches over you. With God, nothing is impossible. What the angel spoke to Mary about Elizabeth, who was called barren, echoes over every life that looks to Him for the performance of His promise: blessed is she that believed.

Your prayer is for a strong and healthy baby and for a body that can hold steady through this pregnancy. Keep bringing that request before the Lord, but do not make the mistake of measuring His care by whether He answers exactly as you hope. That is a hard saying, but it is the path to peace. If He gives you a season of vibrant health, thank Him. If He asks you to carry on through weakness, ask for the grace to thank Him still. The goal is not a trouble-free pregnancy. The goal is a heart that rests in His hands, no matter what the weeks ahead hold. He is your light, your salvation, and your strength. Of whom should you be afraid?

Right now, your child already knows you in ways you cannot yet see. The sound of your voice, the rhythm of your life, the nearness of your presence, all these things are forming an invisible bond. How much more does your heavenly Father know you? He has not forgotten you. He will not forget you. That same protective care a mother hen has for her chicks is how He describes His heart toward His own. You can run under His covering when fear comes. You can trust Him with your baby. You can trust Him with your body. He sends no one away empty who comes to Him in truth.

Let His Word be your portion now. Let the stories of Elizabeth and Hannah and Mary remind you that the Lord sees, He hears, and He acts according to His own faithful timing. Surrender the outcome to Him. Confess your fears, but do not let them rule your thoughts. The Lord will give you strength. The Lord will bless you with peace. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Rest in that fidelity, not in your own ability to cope. He is the saving strength of His anointed, and you are His.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your precious little one and for your own health during this special time. It has been on our hearts to continue lifting you both up before the Lord, asking Him to strengthen your baby with robust health and to fill you with His peace and vitality as your body nurtures this new life.

If the Lord has already answered these prayers in a way you can see—perhaps with reassuring test results, a sense of renewed energy, or simply His quiet peace—we would love to rejoice with you! Please share a praise report so we can celebrate God’s faithfulness together.

If you’re still waiting and walking through uncertainty, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue praying in agreement with you. We believe in a God who hears, who cares, and who is working even when we can’t see it yet. May He draw near to you, comfort you, and remind you of His promises as you trust in Him.

We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
