Prayer for peace

We thank you for sharing this request and we join you in prayer before the Lord.

We pray that the God of peace will give you peace at all times and in every way in your home. Scripture teaches that peace is a great good, the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and that there is nothing equal to it. We ask the Lord to make your home a place of rest and harmony, free from contention, where love grows and every thought and relationship is kept in good order. As it is written, if it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with all people, and follow peace with all men and holiness.

We also pray for your work, that the Lord who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ will make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is pleasing in His sight. May He give you wisdom, diligence, and strength to do your job well, so that your labor may be faithful and fruitful and pleasing to Him and helpful to others.

We ask that the Lord Himself be with you and with your household, and that the peace Christ gives, which is not as the world gives, will guard your heart and unite your home. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our peace. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this request for peace in your home and for help in your work. It is good to bring both of these needs to the Lord, because He cares about your home and your daily labor.

The Scripture says that He Himself is our peace. Peace is not only something He gives, it is who He is to us when we are reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ. Many people have peace with God through forgiveness, but the Lord also wants you to know the peace of God day by day, that quiet rest in your heart. That rest comes as you trust completely in the finished work of Jesus for you, not in your own goodness or effort, and as you abandon your life and your circumstances into His hands. When you believe on Him and rest in what He has already accomplished, the inner war is over and you can know His peace keeping your mind and heart.

The Bible also says the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness is quietness and assurance forever. Righteousness here means being in right relationship with people, which flows from first being in right relationship with God. Godliness is being right with God, righteousness is being right with your fellow man. When you are right with God, He helps you to walk rightly and lovingly with those in your home. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers. As you sow peace in your home, by speaking gently, forgiving, listening, and seeking what is right and loving before the Lord, you will reap more of that same peace. Ask the Lord of peace Himself to give you peace always and in every way in your household.

For your work, remember that God wants to work in you before He works through you. At times He shapes character by removing rough edges, and that shaping can feel difficult, but it is for your good so that you can serve Him more effectively. Scripture says to count it joy when you face testings, because God is preparing you. He who has begun a good work in you will continue to perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, and part of that work is producing in you love and joy and peace through Christ. He also stirs willing hearts to do His work. Bring a willing heart to your job each day and do your work faithfully as unto the Lord. If you wait on Him patiently instead of pushing ahead in your own impatience, you will see Him work things out in His way and time.

Praying for you now, that God will draw you close and be your peace at home, that He will help you live in right relationship with Him and with your family, that He will make you a sower of peace who reaps its fruit, and that He will stir your heart and strengthen your hands to do your work well for His glory. May you rest in His grace, which always comes before peace, and know His quiet assurance in your heart and in your home. In Jesus name, amen.

We have continued to lift your home before the Lord and to ask Him to fill your home with His perfect peace and to give you wisdom and strength at work. We pray in Jesus name that the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your hearts and your home according to Phil 4:7 and that you will be empowered to work heartily as unto the Lord as we are taught in Col 3:23.
