Prayer for peace in my home

My wife seems to be getting worse and worse. The more God blesses her, the more emboldened in her bad behavior she seems to become. When good things happen, she seems to take it as a sign that she’s allowed to get away with cursing and disrespecting her husband. I don’t see much chastisement or conviction from her so I often question her salvation. Can a person have the Holy Spirit and be constantly cursing at people? She doesn’t seem to care about being a wife, and I’m tired of it. Please pray for me to have the right response to her, and for protection from this evil spirit that has taken a foothold in my home. I am just tired of this.. it’s everyday and all her free time is spent fighting me.

We hear your heartache and exhaustion, brother, and we stand with you in prayer before the throne of grace. Your home should be a sanctuary of peace, love, and mutual respect, reflecting the order and beauty God designed for marriage. The behavior you describe is deeply troubling, for Scripture is clear: *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear"* (Ephesians 4:29). Cursing and disrespect, especially toward a husband, grieve the Holy Spirit and disrupt the harmony God intends for marriage.

You ask if a person can have the Holy Spirit and persist in such behavior. The Word tells us, *"By their fruits you will know them"* (Matthew 7:16). The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Where these are absent, we must prayerfully and lovingly question whether the Spirit is truly at work in that life. Yet we also know that even believers can quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19) and walk in the flesh. This is why your role as her spiritual head is so critical—you are called to lead with love, wisdom, and godly authority, even as you entrust her heart to the Lord.

We rebuke the spirit of rebellion, disrespect, and strife that has taken root in your home. This is not the atmosphere God desires for a Christian marriage. *"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly"* (Ephesians 5:22-23). This is not a call to domination but to a godly order where both husband and wife honor Christ in their roles. Your wife’s defiance is not merely against you but against the Lord’s design. We pray that her heart would soften and that she would recognize the authority God has placed over her—not to oppress, but to protect, provide, and lead her into blessing.

Yet we also urge you to examine your own heart. Are you responding to her with the love and patience Christ shows His bride? *"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it"* (Ephesians 5:25). This is a high calling—to love sacrificially, to cover her in prayer, and to speak truth in love, even when it is difficult. Are you seeking wisdom from the Lord on how to address her behavior biblically? Have you involved godly counsel, such as your pastor or mature believers, to help navigate this struggle? *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established"* (Proverbs 15:22).

We also lift you up, brother, for you are carrying a heavy burden. It is exhausting to live in constant conflict, and we pray that God would renew your strength daily. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Your faithfulness in this trial is not in vain. God sees your heart, and He will honor your obedience.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother and his marriage. Lord, You see the strife in his home, and You hear the cries of his spirit. We ask that You would intervene in power, breaking every spirit of rebellion, disrespect, and strife that has taken hold. Father, soften this wife’s heart and bring conviction where there is hardness. Let her see the error of her ways and turn back to You with humility and repentance. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we pray for this husband, that You would fill him with Your wisdom, patience, and love. Give him the strength to lead his home with godly authority, to speak truth in love, and to respond to his wife in a way that honors You. Protect him from discouragement and weariness, and let him find his rest in You. Surround him with godly men who can support and encourage him in this trial.

Father, we rebuke every evil influence in this home. We command every spirit of division, anger, and disrespect to leave in the name of Jesus. Let Your Holy Spirit fill this home with Your presence, bringing healing, restoration, and unity. We declare that this marriage will reflect Your glory, and that both husband and wife will grow in their love and reverence for You.

Lord, if this wife has not truly surrendered her life to You, we pray that You would draw her to salvation. Let her experience the transforming power of Your love and the conviction of Your Spirit. If she is a believer, we pray that You would revive her heart and restore her to a right relationship with You and her husband.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You, and no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We trust in Your faithfulness, Lord, and we declare that Your will shall be done in this home. Amen.

Brother, do not lose heart. The battle you are facing is spiritual, and the victory is already won in Christ. Continue to stand firm in your faith, to love your wife as Christ loves the church, and to trust God for the outcome. Seek Him daily for wisdom and strength, and do not hesitate to reach out to your church community for support. You are not alone in this fight. God is with you, and He will see you through.

We're here with you, brother. We understand the exhaustion and heartache you're feeling. It's tough when the one you love seems to be moving further away from the Lord and the harmony God intended for your marriage. We want you to know that we're praying for you and your wife.

We're asking God to soften her heart, to convict her where she's hard, and to draw her back to Him. We're also praying for you, that God would fill you with His wisdom, patience, and love. We're believing that God will give you the strength to lead your home with godly authority, and that He will protect you from discouragement and weariness.

We're claiming God's peace over your home, a peace that surpasses all understanding. We're declaring that every spirit of rebellion, disrespect, and strife will leave in the name of Jesus. We're asking God to fill your home with His Holy Spirit, bringing healing, restoration, and unity.

We're also praying for your wife's salvation if she hasn't surrendered her life to the Lord. We're asking God to draw her to Himself, to revive her heart if she's a believer, and to restore her to a right relationship with Him and you.

Brother, keep trusting God. Keep loving your wife as Christ loves the church. Keep seeking God daily for wisdom and strength. You're not alone in this fight. God is with you, and He will see you through.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It has been our heart to lift you, your wife, and your home before the Lord, asking Him to bring the peace that only He can provide. We have prayed for wisdom and strength for you, that you would respond in a way that honors God, even in the midst of such difficult circumstances. We have also asked the Lord to break any strongholds of the enemy in your home and to draw your wife’s heart back to Him, that she would experience true conviction and repentance by the power of the Holy Spirit.

If the Lord has moved in a mighty way—if you’ve seen even a glimmer of change, a softening of her heart, or a moment of peace—we would love to hear about it. Please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you and give God the glory. On the other hand, if the battle still rages and you feel no different than when you first posted, we encourage you to bring this request before us again. We are committed to standing with you in prayer as long as it takes, believing that God hears and answers the cries of His children.

Remember, the enemy wants nothing more than to wear you down, to make you feel isolated and hopeless. But you are not alone. We serve a God who is faithful, who sees your pain, and who is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. Keep pressing into Him, trusting that His timing and His ways are perfect. We continue to pray that He would give you supernatural patience, grace, and love as you navigate this trial, and that He would reveal Himself to your wife in a powerful way.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding, and may He strengthen you as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
