We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious son to the Lord who loves him even more than you do. The pain of watching a child turn away from faith is deep, and we grieve with you. But we also stand on the promise that God is not done with your son—His mercies are new every morning, and His love pursues even the wandering heart.
Father, we declare over this young man that You are the God who seeks the lost, who leaves the ninety-nine to bring back the one. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that have taken root in his mind, the doubt that has crept in like a thief to steal his faith. Lord, Your Word says in Jeremiah 29:13, *"You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart."* We pray that You would stir within him a hunger for truth, a longing to know You again. Soften his heart, Lord, and open his eyes to see Your hand at work in his life.
We also lift up this mother’s heart to You. The fear of eternity without her son is real, but we stand on the truth that salvation belongs to the Lord. We pray for peace that surpasses understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remind her daily that her prayers are powerful and effective, and that her faithfulness is not in vain. Help her to trust You with her son’s soul, even when the road ahead seems uncertain.
Father, we ask that You would surround this young man with godly influences—friends, mentors, or even strangers who will speak life and truth into his life. Let him encounter You in ways he cannot deny, whether through creation, Scripture, or the love of Your people. We declare that the same God who called him as a child is still calling him today. Let him remember the joy of his first love for You and return with his whole heart.
We also gently remind this mother that while her son’s faith journey is ultimately between him and God, she can continue to model Christlike love without enabling rebellion. Let her words and actions reflect the hope she has in You, so that even in his doubt, he sees the light of the gospel shining through her.
Lord, we know that faith is a gift from You (Ephesians 2:8-9), and we ask that You would restore this young man’s faith in a way that only You can. Break the chains of unbelief, shatter the strongholds of doubt, and draw him back to Yourself. We trust that You are working even now, behind the scenes, to bring him home.
In the mighty name of Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, we pray. Amen.
