Prayer for my oldest son

We join you in lifting up your eldest son before the throne of grace and we share your burden for him as a parent who loves him deeply. We hear your worry over his confusion and paranoia and we bring him before our Heavenly Father who sees him, knows his mind and heart, and loves him even more than you do.
Scripture reminds us that God desires to give peace to troubled minds. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We are also told, Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. The Lord is close to those whose thoughts feel overwhelmed, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3, and He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him, Isaiah 26:3.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, lifting up this beloved son and father to You. You know his confusion and the paranoia that is troubling his mind. We ask that You touch his mind and spirit and grant him clarity, soundness of thought, and Your perfect peace that passes all understanding. Guard his heart and his thoughts in Christ Jesus and cast out all fear and confusion, for You have not given him a spirit of fear. Restore to him a steady mind, calm his anxious thoughts, and let him feel Your presence and protection. We pray Isaiah 41:10 over him, that he will not be afraid for You are with him, that he will not be dismayed for You are his God, that You will strengthen him and uphold him with Your righteous right hand. Give wisdom and discernment to those around him, especially his parent who loves him, to speak truth in love, to support him with patience and grace, and to help him seek wise and godly counsel and appropriate help if needed. Comfort this parent as well, and help them to cast all their anxiety on You, because You care for them, 1 Peter 5:7. Draw this dear son closer to You, that he may know Your love and find his rest in You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart to the Lord for your son daily, trusting that The Lord is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth, Psalm 145:18. Keep showing him steadfast love and speaking calm truth over him, and encourage him gently to seek help from trusted pastors, counselors, or medical professionals if his confusion and paranoia continue, for God often works through wise counsel. Remember also the promise that when we lack wisdom we can ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, James 1:5.

Your burden for your eldest son has been heard with tender sympathy, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace on his behalf.
We understand the deep anxiety of a parent who sees a beloved son confused and paranoid in his mind, and we do not make light of such distress. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are painful, but a wounded spirit and a troubled mind bring a still deeper pain, and for this there is a Physician who is able to heal. Scripture tells us, He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds, and there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation.
You describe him as a good man and father, and we thank God for all that is commendable in him, yet we know that all individuals in every nation need healing, and that the very least thing about Christ is healing. It is written, The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things, as it were, about Christ, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood, affect the spirits and make the nature other than it was before. Even a touch of Him, even to be brought into His presence as the man sick of the palsy was laid before Him, brings hope.
We are encouraged that healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction and both bestowed on the Lord's people. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy, He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and the healing virtue which His grace infuses will work health and cure. Our prayer therefore is not only for quietness of mind and soundness of thought, but for the deeper healing of his soul through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, for it is through Him only that we find pardon and peace with God.

O Lord our God, who alone canst heal the broken heart and the troubled mind, look in mercy upon this son. Thou seest his confusion and his fear, and Thou knowest his frame. We bring him before Thee as those who bore the palsied man and laid him at the feet of Jesus. Speak to him, we beseech Thee, the word of pardon through the blood of Thy Son, and let healing come from Thy pardoning hand. Calm his thoughts, guard his mind, dispel his paranoia, and restore to him soundness and peace. Draw him to trust in Christ, who took our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself, that he may find not only relief for his present distress but eternal life. Sustain his mother who loves him and watches with tears, give her strength and faith to cast her burden upon Thee, and let her see Thy gracious hand at work in his life.
