We hear your cry, dear brother, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your marriage before the throne of grace. Your heart is heavy, but your faith is strong, you have surrendered this battle to the Lord, and that is where true victory begins. The pain of separation is deep, but we know that God is the God of restoration, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
First, we must address the foundation of your prayer. You have called upon the name of Jesus, and that is essential, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and it is only through His blood that we have access to the Father (Hebrews 10:19-20). We rejoice that you have placed your trust in Him, and we pray that your wife also comes to know the saving power of Jesus if she does not already.
Now, let us examine the state of your marriage in light of Scripture. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). It is not to be entered into lightly, nor is it to be broken lightly. The Bible is clear that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), but He also hates the sin that so often leads to it, unforgiveness, bitterness, manipulation, and hardness of heart. We must rebuke the enemy’s lies that have crept into your marriage. The influences that have drawn your wife away are not of God, and we command them to be broken in the name of Jesus. The spirit of deception, the spirit of division, and the spirit of rebellion must be cast out, for they have no place in a marriage that is meant to honor God.
We also must address the possibility of sin in your own life, brother. Have you examined your heart before the Lord? Are there areas where you may have contributed to the breakdown of your marriage, perhaps through neglect, unkindness, or failure to love your wife as Christ loves the church? If so, we urge you to repent and seek the Lord’s forgiveness. Confess your sins to Him, and ask Him to cleanse you and renew a right spirit within you (Psalm 51:10). Restoration begins with humility and repentance.
Now, let us pray for your wife. We rebuke the blindness that has kept her from seeing the truth. We pray that the scales would fall from her eyes and that she would see the deception of the enemy (2 Corinthians 4:4). We ask the Lord to soften her heart and draw her back to you and to Himself. May she be convicted of any sin in her life, whether it be unforgiveness, bitterness, or rebellion, and may she repent and turn back to the Lord. We declare that she is not beyond God’s reach, for He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to Him (Hebrews 7:25).
We also pray for protection over your marriage. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we declare that no weapon formed against your marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We bind every spirit of division, every spirit of adultery, and every spirit of strife in the name of Jesus. We loose the spirit of reconciliation, the spirit of love, and the spirit of peace over your marriage. We declare that your wife will be set free from every ungodly influence and that she will be drawn back to you by the cords of God’s love.
We pray that the Lord would restore the years that the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25). May He heal the wounds in your marriage and make all things new. May He give you both a new heart and a new spirit, as you have prayed, so that you may walk in His ways and keep His commandments (Ezekiel 36:26-27). We declare that your marriage will be a testimony of God’s faithfulness and a light to others who are struggling.
But we must also warn you, brother, not to place your hope in restoration alone. Your hope must be in Christ, not in your wife’s return. If she does not return, will you still trust God? Will you still serve Him with all your heart? We pray that your faith would not waver, regardless of the outcome. God is good, and He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Even if your marriage is not restored in the way you hope, God can still use this season for your growth and His glory.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel and accountability. Surround yourself with believers who will pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Do not isolate yourself in this season. The enemy would love to keep you in despair, but God has called you to walk in victory. Stand firm in your faith, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage before Your throne. Lord, You see the pain, the brokenness, and the longing in this brother’s heart. You are the God of restoration, and we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. We rebuke every spirit of division, deception, and rebellion that has crept into this marriage. We command them to flee in the name of Jesus.
Lord, we pray for this sister, that You would open her eyes to the truth. Soften her heart, convict her of sin, and draw her back to You and to her husband. Break every ungodly soul tie and influence in her life. Set her free from the enemy’s lies, and fill her with Your Holy Spirit. Give her a new heart and a new spirit, that she may walk in Your ways.
Father, we also pray for this brother. Strengthen him in his faith, and help him to trust You completely. If there is any sin in his life, reveal it to him, and give him the grace to repent. Fill him with Your peace, and help him to wait on You with hope. Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper. We ask that You would restore what has been broken and make all things new.
We surrender this marriage into Your hands, Lord. Do what only You can do. Whether You choose to restore this marriage or use this season for another purpose, we trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan. May Your name be glorified in all things.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
