We join with you in lifting up your precious mother and your whole family before our Heavenly Father in Jesus name, and we thank Him for the love and honor you have for your mother in her old age.

We hear your heart for an excellent, loving, helpful and blessed relationship with your mother and brother, and for a compassionate and supportive atmosphere in your home. This desire honors God, for it is written Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12 and also If anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever 1 Timothy 5:8. We pray that the Lord will soften and stir your brother's heart to share this burden of love with you, that he would put forth real effort to fulfill your mother's material and emotional needs with diligence and tenderness, as it is also written But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God 1 Timothy 5:4.

We lift up your mother to the Lord for healing. We pray for her body afflicted with Alzheimer, diabetes, depression, skin and stomach growths, gastrointestinal and heart and blood pressure issues. We ask our great Physician to touch her, for we know He is the one who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3 and that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15. We pray for His mercy to restore her mind and memory, to steady her blood sugar and heart, to heal her stomach and skin, and to lift the heavy cloud of depression from her.

We also pray for her deep sorrow and loneliness. To lose a husband after so many decades of marriage is a profound grief, and we understand her fear of being alone and her words that she wants to die so that somebody holds her hand. We ask the God of all comfort to comfort her by the Holy Spirit, for He is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. We pray she will feel the hand of the Lord holding hers every moment, for He has promised Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Even when we feel forsaken, He says I will never leave you, nor forsake you Hebrews 13:5. We pray she will know her life is still precious to God and to you, and that He has purpose for her remaining days, that she would not desire death but would find peace and hope in His presence. We pray the Lord will guard her heart and mind with His peace which surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7.

We bring before the Lord your dream and need for wisdom regarding living arrangements, to be near your mother to care for her while also having the privacy and peace you need, whether in a house with separate apartments or flats on the same floor in the same building. This is a wise and loving desire that balances honor for your mother with good stewardship of your own household. We pray the Lord will guide you and your brother to the best solution and make your paths straight as you trust in Him Proverbs 3:5-6, and that if you lack wisdom you may ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to you James 1:5. We pray He will provide open doors, provision, and unity between you and your brother, even where there is now lack of interest, that He would bring you into one mind in this decision.

Above all we join you in praying for the salvation of your family, that they will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. We rejoice that you have prayed in Jesus name, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We pray that your mother and brother will come to this saving faith, that your whole household would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved Acts 16:31.

Father, in Jesus name we commit this family to You. Heal this dear mother in body, mind and spirit. Comfort her in her widowhood and take away fear and loneliness. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon her. Knit this family together in love, stir the brother to loving action, grant wisdom for housing and provision, and draw each one into salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let Your will be done in their lives and let their home be filled with Your peace. Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you for your mother and your brother. We hear how much you love your mom, how heavy it is to watch her carry so many health burdens after losing her husband of many years, and how much you want your family to be close and supportive. Wanting to be near her while still having privacy and peace is an understandable and caring desire.

Grief after such a long marriage can leave a deep fear of being alone, and when health is fragile that fear can grow even stronger. Alongside prayer we encourage you to keep her doctors involved for her ongoing medical needs, and to let a pastor or counselor who can see her in person know how she is speaking about dying so they can walk with you both.

It may help to have a calm, specific conversation with your brother about what each of you can realistically offer right now, and to explore together what housing or support options in your area could give your mom both company and care without exhausting either of you.

Father, we lift this dear mother to You in her loneliness and in all the health struggles she carries. Surround her with Your comfort and hold her close. Give her children wisdom, unity and gentle strength as they seek the best next step for her care, and draw each heart in this family closer to Jesus. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden for your dear aged mother and for your family has been heard, and we bring it before the Lord with you in prayer.

We are moved by your love for your mother in her affliction. To bear Alzheimer and diabetes and depression, with growths and disorders of stomach and heart and blood pressure, is a heavy load for a frail frame. And to this is added the deeper wound of the heart, for her husband of so many years has been taken, and she fears to be alone, even saying she longs to die with a hand holding hers. The Lord who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds sees her loneliness and her fear, and He hears that quiet cry for comfort.

We are reminded that all healing virtue flows from our Lord Jesus Christ. As the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, so the least thing about Christ has healing in it. There is an abundance of healing power in Him, not only for the soul but in the end for the body also. When He comes to dwell with His people, pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. He said to the palsied man, your sins are forgiven you, and with that forgiveness came healing. So we look first to Christ for the soul's great need, that sins may be pardoned and the heart made whole, and we trust Him also with the body, asking that His gracious hand would touch and lift up as He once took Peter's wife's mother by the hand when she lay sick of a fever, and she arose and ministered. True religion shows its greatest marvels around the domestic hearth, and the Lord knows the scene in your house, the weariness, the watching, the longing to do good.

We pray for you and for your brother, that the Lord would create a loving, compassionate and supportive atmosphere in your family, and that your brother may be stirred to put forth real effort to fulfill your mother's material and emotional needs. We ask the Lord to give you both wisdom concerning the best provision for her care. Your desire to be near enough to be at her hand whenever you can, and yet to keep needful privacy and peace, is a comely and wise desire. Separate apartments under one roof or flats upon the same floor may be a kind and honorable way to honour your mother in her age while guarding the quiet that each household needs. We ask the Lord in His providence to open or close that door as He sees best, and to make you of one mind in love, that no coldness or neglect may settle between you.

We pray also for your mother's comfort by the Holy Spirit. May He who is the Comforter draw near to her in her widowhood, quiet her fear of being alone, and let her feel that though her husband is gone, she is not forsaken. May she know the hand of Jesus holding hers, even when earthly hands cannot always be there, and may His presence turn her sorrow into peace.

Above all we join your prayer for salvation, that your whole family may confess with joy that Jesus Christ is Lord. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and all true healing begins with forgiveness through His blood shed at Calvary. May the Lord grant to your mother and to your brother and to you repentance and faith, that pardon and healing may be yours together.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, look upon this mother in her age and infirmity. Pardon her sins and heal her soul, and according to Your perfect will touch her body, ease her mind, and lift the cloud of depression. Comfort her widow's heart by the Holy Spirit, and take away her fear. Give wisdom to her children to honour her as Your word commands, to provide for her with tenderness and diligence, and to dwell together in love and peace if it please You. Unite this family in Christ, that each one may bow the knee to Jesus as Lord, and find in Him the healing leaves for every wound. We ask this not for our merit, but for the sake of Him who took our infirmities and bore our sorrows. Amen.
