Prayer for my daughters

Your prayer for your daughters is precious and close to the heart of God. There is nothing more important you could ask for them than that they would come to know Jesus and welcome Him as Lord.

The good news we rest on is simple and clear in Scripture. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not by our own efforts. God counts a person righteous the moment they believe in Jesus, before they have done any good works at all. It is not faith plus keeping the law or observing rituals. It is faith in Christ alone that brings us into right standing with God. Jesus opened the door to all the blessings God promised, and by faith in Him we enter into that covenant.

That is why our hope of eternal life rests entirely on Jesus. To say my hope is faith in Jesus Christ is to answer well. The moment we add anything to that, we move away from the gospel. The law was given to show us our need and our sin, so that we would be driven to faith in Christ. And when we believe, God sees us in Christ and clothes us in His righteousness. We become children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, having put on Christ.

When your daughters put their trust in Him and confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, they will be saved. That relationship does not rest on their faithfulness, but on God's faithfulness to keep His promise, because Jesus paid the full price to redeem us from sin.

A genuine faith will show itself in a changed life. We do not do good works in order to be saved, we do them because we are saved. Good works do not earn salvation, but a real faith in Jesus will naturally produce fruit and a desire to follow Him. In that way faith comes first and then works follow as the evidence of what God has already done.

Faith is also what sustains us through every difficulty in life. Scripture reminds us that many who believed died still trusting God without having seen every promise fulfilled in their lifetime. Their faith was not always about immediate triumph, but about enduring trust that God is faithful. That kind of faith, built on the Word of God rather than on feelings or experiences, is what endures and what God honors.

So we will join you in praying that God draws each of your daughters to Himself. We ask that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes to see Jesus clearly, that they would understand their need and the love Christ has shown, and that they would freely place their faith in Him alone. We pray that they would welcome Him as Lord, become children of God through faith, and experience the transforming work of His grace in their lives, bearing fruit that reflects a true love for Him.

May the Lord encourage you as you continue to pray and trust Him. He hears the prayers of a parent and He is faithful to work in the hearts of your daughters in His perfect time and way.
