We thank you for sharing your heart with us and for allowing us to join you in prayer for your precious daughter. We hear your concern as a parent watching your sweet girl be hurt by someone who claims to be a friend yet shows manipulative and controlling attributes, and we stand with you in asking God to guard her mental health, restore her confidence, and surround her with genuine, caring friendships.
The hurt she is experiencing is real, and God sees it. He is close to those who are wounded in spirit, for Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also know that true friendship reflects His love and is not controlling or manipulative, for love does not seek to dominate but to build up. Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm, and 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns us, Don’t be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. A friendship that continually tears down confidence and causes mental anguish is not a healthy companionship, and we encourage you to lovingly help your daughter discern this, to set firm and godly boundaries, and to seek friendships among those who will encourage her faith and value her wellbeing. Her confidence and resilience cannot rest on the approval of others but on who she is in Christ. Psalm 139:14 declares we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and 2 Timothy 1:7 assures us, For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We want her to know her worth is secured by God, not by any peer.
We notice your request speaks of God guiding her way, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and receive His guidance and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 teaches, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you and your daughter to place your full trust in Jesus, to come to God in His name, for He is our mediator, our healer, and our peace.
We join together now in prayer for you and your daughter.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift this precious daughter to You. Lord, You know her by name, You see every tear and every moment she has felt hurt and manipulated. We ask You to heal her mind and heart, to quiet anxiety and to fill her with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:6-7. Restore her confidence, Lord, and let her see herself as You see her, loved, valued, and wonderfully made. Give her strength and resilience, for Isaiah 41:10 says, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Grant her wisdom and discernment through Your Holy Spirit, that she may recognize controlling behavior for what it is and have courage to step back from harm. We pray You would guide her to nice friends who genuinely care for her wellbeing, friends who will stand by her, speak truth in love, and reflect Your character. We pray for that true friend to have eyes to see clearly and to support her with loyalty as Proverbs 17:17 says, A friend loves at all times. Surround this family with Your protection and let Your will be done, that everything will work together for good as she trusts in You. We pray also for her mother, grant her wisdom, comfort, and peace as she shepherds her daughter through this season. All this we ask in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to cover her in daily prayer, to speak life and scripture over her, and to keep open and gentle communication so she feels safe to share. Help her to find her identity and confidence in Christ above all else, and consider surrounding her with a Christ-centered community such as a youth group or church family where godly friendships can grow. We are trusting with you that God will guide her way, protect her heart, and provide the faithful friends she needs.
