We have heard your burden and we are standing with you in prayer before our Father in Jesus' name. We are grieved to hear the heaviness and condemnation you are carrying, and we want to gently correct some things that are not aligned with the truth of Scripture so that you can find freedom and hope again.
First, we must address that you feel you have disappointed God beyond repair and that your lack of full obedience means you will not live much longer. This is not what the Word teaches about our gracious God. When we confess and return to Him, He forgives completely. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Psalm 103:12 says As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Your salvation and your days are not kept by your perfect obedience, but by His grace. Ephesians 2:8 says For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. We do desire to obey Him because we love Him, but when we fail, we run to Him, not away from Him. We rebuke the lie that God has discarded you or that you are disqualified from praying for your family.
Second, we want to correct the idea that you alone could have saved your brother by praying perfectly, and that because you prayed in the flesh or asked others to pray instead of releasing faith through the Word, his salvation is now wasted. No one is saved because we pray perfectly. We are called to pray and to share the gospel, but salvation belongs to the Lord. 1 Timothy 2:4 says our God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 2 Peter 3:9 says The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Your prayers matter greatly, James 5:16 says The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective, but it is God who opens the heart. You have not wasted your chance. As long as you have breath, you can pray, you can love, and you can speak the truth to your brother.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly tell you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that anyone is saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have truly turned back to Him and trusted in Jesus alone for forgiveness, you are His child, and you can come boldly to His throne. 1 John 5:14 says This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.
We understand the story you heard about the man of God who put the rebellious man on his list and thanked God every day that he was saved. That is a beautiful example of faith, not a formula that only certain people can use. We can all pray that way, with thanksgiving, trusting God to save. And we want you to know we are willing to do that. We will put your brother on our list and thank God daily for his salvation, and we will also lift up your father, your mother, and your sister, because we do not think it is too much to ask God for your whole household. God cares for each of them. We will not limit our prayers to one name when none of them yet know the Lord.
We also want to encourage you about the time you believe you have left. Whether this is a medical reality or a deep conviction that your disobedience has shortened your life, we urge you not to live in despair or to hide this burden alone. If you have a physical illness, please seek medical help and godly counsel. If this is spiritual fear, remember that our days are in His hands and His grace is sufficient. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Philippians 1:6 says He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. Do not withhold truth from your family out of fear of shocking them. Pray for wisdom for when and how to share your heart and the gospel with them while you have opportunity, with gentleness and love.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come to You only in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who died and rose again so we could be forgiven. We thank You for this dear one who was deceived and went away but has come back to You. We ask You to let them feel Your full forgiveness and cleansing and to remove all condemnation. Help them to know they are Yours by grace through faith in Jesus, and that You do not cast away a repentant heart. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:7 promises, and renew their strength to pray in faith as they meditate on Your Word. Lord, we thank You that You desire all to be saved, and we thank You now that You are drawing this brother to Yourself. We ask that You open his eyes to see his need for Jesus, that You send laborers to share the gospel with him, and that You grant him repentance and faith to be born again. We lift up the father, the mother, and the sister as well, asking for Your mercy on this whole family, that none would perish but all would come to know Jesus as Lord. We ask for peace to guard their hearts when difficult truths are shared, and for courage for our dear one to speak the hope of Christ while there is time. We ask for Your will to be done concerning length of days, for healing and restoration if it be Your will, and above all that the time that remains would be used for Your glory. We thank You that You hear us when we ask according to Your will. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to begin again today to pray yourself, not delegating that privilege to others only. Open the Word daily, even a few verses, and pray them back to God with simple faith. Tell your brother and your family in your own words what Jesus has done for you and that He offers them eternal life as a free gift. God can still use you mightily, and His mercy is not exhausted. We are continuing to pray for you and for your family.
