Prayer for my boyfriend’s communication today

Heavenly Father, Two more hours have passed, and I still haven’t heard from ###. You know how much I miss him and how heavy my heart feels. Please watch over him today. Keep him safe, guide his steps, and give him peace. If it is Your will, please put it on his heart to reach out to me and let me know that he is okay. Calm my heart while I wait. Help me not to let fear take over my thoughts. I surrender this situation to You and trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. Lord, please let today bring me good news. In Jesus’ name, Amen

We join you in bringing this heavy waiting heart before the Father and we thank you for surrendering this situation to Him in Jesus name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the throne of grace. We know how difficult these hours of silence can feel, how quickly fear and longing can take over our thoughts when we miss someone dear to us.

We hear your prayer for his safety and for peace while you wait, and we stand with you asking the Lord to watch over him, to guide his steps and to guard your heart. The Word reminds us, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 We also take comfort in knowing we can cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us. 1 Peter 5:7 When we are afraid we choose to put our trust in Him, for He has said, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

We want to gently encourage you about this courtship. We believe that a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship is a courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, and marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. Therefore we pray not only for communication today but that your relationship would be rooted in faith, purity and a shared desire to honor the Lord. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity. 2 Corinthians 6:14 If this man is a believer, we pray that your communication would grow in honesty, kindness and godliness, and that you both would seek wisdom about whether God is leading you toward marriage. For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. Genesis 2:24 We encourage you to keep your courtship pure before the Lord, fleeing from fornication which is sex before or outside of marriage, and to let your love be marked by patience and self control as you wait on His timing. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Heavenly Father, we lift up this dear daughter and the young man she cares for. You see her waiting heart and You know where he is and what he is facing today. We ask that You keep him safe, guide his steps and give him Your peace. If it is Your will, put it on his heart to reach out and let her know he is well. At the same time, calm her heart while she waits. Quiet the fear that tries to take over her thoughts and replace it with Your perfect peace. Help her to surrender this relationship fully to You, trusting that You are working even when she cannot see it. Draw them both closer to Jesus, purify their courtship, and make it honoring to You. If it is Your will for them to continue toward marriage, build that foundation on Christ. If not, give clear wisdom and grace to follow Your way. Let today bring what is best according to Your perfect will and let her rest in knowing she is held in Your hands. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We've been thinking of you in this quiet, stretched out waiting. Two hours can feel so long when your heart is tuned to someone you care about, and it makes sense that fear tries to fill the silence.

We're glad you brought that heaviness to the Father honestly, surrendering what you can't control. That surrender doesn't mean the worry disappears right away, but it is a steady place to return to when thoughts start to spiral.

While you wait today, it might help to give the waiting a little shape. Instead of watching the phone, you could set a gentle rhythm. Put the phone in another room for a little while, do something with your hands or get outside for a short walk, and let a trusted friend or family member know you're having a hard afternoon so you're not sitting with it alone. If he does reach out, you'll see it, and if there is still silence, you'll have cared for yourself in the meantime.

Father, we lift our sister to You today. You see her tender heart and the ache of waiting. Calm her thoughts, steady her with Your peace, and guard her with wisdom for whatever comes next. Watch over ### as well and keep him safe in Your care. Lead her step by step and help her rest in Your faithful presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your heart has been made heavy in this waiting, and the hours have seemed long while silence remains. It is in such seasons that the soul learns what it means to be kept in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed upon the Lord, because it trusts in Him. That peace is not found in a message received or in good news from afar, but in the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within, even when sorrows are surging round and loved ones feel far away.

You have done well to surrender this situation to God and to ask that His will be done. The mind is the main thing, for it will bring you daylight or midnight, peace or war, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. To trust Him before you feel joy and peace is the Gospel way. We are to trust the Savior before we feel the slightest benefit from Him, and then joy and peace follow in His time. Only trust Him, only trust Him now. When a soul casts itself wholly upon the Lamb of God, He has taken away its sin, and the peace that passes all understanding, which keeps the heart and mind through Jesus Christ, is His to give and to renew.

There is also a blessed waiting which God teaches His people. They are not waiting in despair, nor even in hesitation, they are waiting in hope, a joyous and assured hope. To wait upon the Lord is like a servant waiting upon his lord, anxious to know what his master wishes him to do, and like a traveler waiting for his guide to steer his course. Waiting upon the Lord makes the world and all its affairs seem little, and it breeds peace within the soul, so that when a man is perfectly at rest within, he cares little for trials or foes. If you have not yet obtained the peace which comes with believing, continue with great importunity in prayer and wait on, remembering that the blessing is worth waiting for.

In this waiting, seek first to be at peace with God through Jesus Christ, for He alone is our peace, made through His blood, and He is the God of all peace. Peace with God is the fountain, and peace in the conscience is the crystal stream which issues from it. And he that is at peace with God will have an anxiety after holiness, careful lest he should lose that peace by going into sin. Therefore bring this relationship also under the light of His Word and His will. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and the Lord has set apart all intimacy and living together as belonging within that covenant alone. It is wisdom and love to trust God not only with your comfort but with your conduct, acting in all prudence and uprightness and relying simply and entirely upon Him, so that you will not have to mourn because you have used means which grieve Him.

So we will pray not simply for a word from man to calm fear, but for God to calm your heart while you wait and to guide you both into what is holy and good.

Heavenly Father, be merciful unto this soul that trusts in You, and let her make her refuge in the shadow of Your wings until these cares pass. Keep her in perfect peace as her mind is stayed on You. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus and grant peace with You that no circumstance can take away. Guard him of whom she speaks, keep him safe according to Your providence, and guide his steps. Above all, guide them both to seek Your face, to walk in purity, and to desire holiness more than relief from anxiety. If it be Your will, grant communication that is honest and kind, but in all things let Your will be done, and let fear not rule her thoughts. Teach her to wait patiently for You, to hear Your direction as her Guide, and to do Your will as Your servant. Renew her peace from lips that cannot lie and from a heart that cannot change.
