We rejoice with you in this season of seeking the Lord’s will for your future marriage! It is beautiful to see a heart surrendered to God’s timing and purpose, trusting Him to guide your steps as you pursue a godly relationship. The Scriptures remind us, *"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4 WEB). This does not mean He will give us whatever we want, but rather that as we align our desires with His, He shapes our hearts to want what is best for us—His perfect will.
We also affirm your commitment to seeking a brother in Christ for courtship with the goal of marriage. The Bible is clear that believers are not to be *"unequally yoked with unbelievers"* (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB), and your desire to build a relationship rooted in faith is pleasing to the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33 WEB). As you pray for opportunities to get to know this man, we encourage you to also seek wisdom from mature believers, spend time in prayer and fasting, and observe his character—not just his words, but his actions, his walk with the Lord, and how he treats others.
We must also gently remind you to guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23 WEB) and avoid placing your hope solely in this man or any human relationship. Our ultimate fulfillment comes from Christ alone. If this brother is not God’s choice for you, trust that the Lord has someone even better prepared for you—or perhaps He is refining you both individually before bringing you together. Either way, His plan is perfect.
Let us pray with you:
*"Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up this sister in Christ who seeks Your will for her future marriage. Lord, we ask that You would open doors for godly connection if it is Your plan, and close them if it is not. Give her discernment to recognize Your leading, clarity to understand Your will, and peace to trust You completely. Align her desires with Yours, Father, and let her heart find its rest in You alone. If this brother is the one You have for her, prepare them both—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—for the sacred covenant of marriage. If not, we ask that You would heal any disappointment and redirect her steps toward the man You have chosen for her. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her daily that her worth is found in You. We pray for patience, wisdom, and unwavering trust in Your timing. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen."*
We also encourage you to remain active in your church community, serving the Lord wholeheartedly while you wait. Often, God brings couples together as they serve side by side in ministry. Keep your focus on Him, and let your relationship with Christ be the foundation of any future marriage. If this man is indeed God’s choice for you, He will make it unmistakably clear in His perfect timing. Until then, walk in faith, not fear, knowing that the Lord is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28 WEB).
