Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart with us. We have prayed for you in the name of Jesus, asking our Father to provide for you and to bring you peace in this very difficult and urgent need for housing.
We understand the fear and anxiety you are feeling. When a threat like losing a home is right in front of us, it is easy for our eyes to fix on the problem and for fear to take over. Scripture teaches that the cure for that kind of fear is to remember the Lord. One psalmist said that even when he walked through the valley of death he would fear no evil because the Lord was with him. Another declared that the Lord is our light and our salvation and the strength of our lives, so whom shall we fear. When we remember who God is, His presence, His power and His care for us, faith can rise and fear loses its hold. Fear and faith cannot rule the heart at the same time, so we asked God to strengthen your faith and to quiet your heart with the assurance that He sees you and is with you.
The Bible also speaks of another kind of fear, the reverent awe of God. This is not a terror that makes us hide, but a deep respect and love for who He is that leads us to love what He loves and to turn away from what He calls evil. That reverence is described as the beginning and the sum of true knowledge and wisdom. It is the starting place for a wise life. As we grow in that awe of God, we learn to trust Him more fully. We are told that those who live in that reverence will not lack what they truly need, and that even the strong young lions may go hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. He does not despise the affliction of the afflicted, He does not hide His face, but when we cry to Him He hears. We prayed that as you look to Him in reverence and trust, you would experience His faithful care.
We also prayed that God will keep you from sudden fear and be your confidence, that He will guard your steps and keep your foot from being taken. He is able to make a way where there seems to be no way, and to open doors for housing and help through the kindness of others and through practical provision. We asked Him to provide a safe place for you to live, to calm your anxious thoughts, to give you rest at night and clear guidance for each step ahead, and to surround you with people who can offer wise and tangible support.
May the Lord show you His nearness in these days, lift the weight of fear from your heart, and meet your need according to His goodness and mercy. We continue to hold you before Him and trust Him to care for you as you put your confidence in Him. In Jesus name, amen.
