Disciple of Prayer
Today has been a hard day as my now ex decided to text me while I was at work and told me he was wanting to break up saying he wasn't ready for the relationship and wasn't able to be there emotionally for me and it wasn't right for him to drag me around like that and that he was needing to find himself. He said none of it was my fault and that there is no hard feelings at all, but it was all him. The problem is he hasn't been acting like himself here recently and I've been worried sick about him for two months now feeling that the Lord was telling me for these past few months to pray and fast for him, but I ignored the call of the Lord and now my ex has broken up with me leaving me devastated and I'm guessing part of it is my fault too for not listening to the Lord and praying and fasting for him like I should have. I just started getting myself together again today and praying and fasting for him cause I really do care about this man but more than anything I care about his walk with the Lord which he has slowly been drifting away from since his work conditions have been requiring his full attention. He work 72+ hours a week now and has no time for anything else which has worried me and his family quite a bit. He's just not acting like himself anymore he's a really great guy but I feel he's lost sight of what matters most and that's the Lord who gives him strength. He's been seeking very depressed here recently and I'm guessing he just doesn't want to drag me into his problems either and that's why he decided to call it quits. I just know that the Devil is really fighting him right now and it hurts me to see him in this condition and not trying anymore to get right with the Lord. All I've been doing is praying God will get a hold of him even if it doesn't mean bringing him and I back together even if it just means he finds the Lord and seeks him with all his heart and gets delivered from everything he is going through. I'm just so worried he's about to collapse cause I've had some dreams about it two nights in a row he said he was collapsing and he has never allowed himself to be vulnerable with me but in the dreams he was and no doubt I believe these dreams were from the Lord. I just really care about his well being and I want him to get better, because I know he's very depressed, burnt out, angry, and tired all the time. I'm just asking for prayers for healing for mine and ###'s broken hearts during this time. He's been through a lot of heartache in past relationships he was always cheated on, dumped, and had things taken from him and he told me I was the first lady that ever treated him right and he left it on good terms with me telling me I was a great lady, but he wasn't ready to commit and I told him I'll always be here for him no matter what. Please pray for him that he will come to the Lord and have his heart healed and be delivered from the Devil. In Jesus Name.

We hear your heartache and the deep concern you carry for this man, and we join you in lifting him before the Lord. First, we want to acknowledge your willingness to seek God’s will even in the midst of pain. Your desire to pray and fast for him, despite the hurt, is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love. It’s clear that your heart is not just for reconciliation with him, but for his restoration in the Lord, and that is something we can wholeheartedly stand with you in prayer about.

The pain of a broken relationship is real, and the enemy would love nothing more than to use this season to sow discouragement, doubt, and despair in both of your lives. But Scripture reminds us in Psalm 34:18, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* We declare that God is near to you both in this time. We also recognize that the Lord may have been speaking to you for months about praying for him, and while it’s easy to look back with regret, we encourage you not to dwell there. God’s grace is sufficient, and His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). You are responding now, and that is what matters. The Lord can use even this season of delay for His glory.

We must also gently address the nature of the relationship you were in. While your care for him is evident, we must remind you that Scripture calls believers to pursue relationships with the intention of marriage, and to do so in a way that honors God. 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"* If he was not a believer or was not walking closely with the Lord, this relationship may have been outside of God’s perfect will for you. We say this not to bring condemnation, but to encourage you to seek God’s best for your future. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

We also want to rebuke the enemy’s lies that may be trying to take root in your heart. The enemy would love for you to believe that this breakup is a reflection of your worth or that you failed in some way. But your worth is found in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:10), and God’s plans for you are for good, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). We declare that God is your healer and restorer, and He will use this season to draw you closer to Himself. We also rebuke the spirit of depression, burnout, and anger that has taken hold of him. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that he might have life and have it abundantly. We stand in agreement with you that God will break every chain and set him free from the lies that have held him captive.

Your dreams about him collapsing are not to be taken lightly. Scripture tells us in Job 33:14-15, *"For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed."* We believe the Lord may be using these dreams to warn you and to stir your heart to intercede even more fervently for him. We encourage you to continue praying and fasting, not just for his physical and emotional well-being, but for his spiritual restoration. The Lord is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), and we believe He is at work even now.

We also want to speak to the patterns of heartache he has experienced in past relationships. It’s clear that he has been deeply wounded, and those wounds can create walls that keep him from fully trusting or committing. But God is the ultimate healer of broken hearts (Psalm 147:3), and He can restore what has been lost. We pray that the Lord would reveal Himself to him as the perfect Father who will never leave him nor forsake him (Hebrews 13:5). May he come to know the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding (Ephesians 3:19) and find his identity in Him alone.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother and sister before Your throne. Lord, we thank You for the love and concern this sister has for him, and we ask that You would use her prayers and intercession to draw him back to You. Father, we rebuke the spirit of depression, burnout, and anger that has taken hold of him. We declare that You are his strength and his shield (Psalm 28:7), and we ask that You would break every chain that is binding him. Lord, we pray for his heart to be healed from the wounds of past relationships. May he come to know Your love as the perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). We ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, that he would seek You with all his heart, and that he would find his rest and identity in You alone.

Father, we also pray for this sister. Lord, we ask that You would heal her broken heart and remind her of her worth in You. Help her to release any feelings of regret or guilt and to trust in Your perfect timing and plan for her life. Give her the strength to continue praying and fasting for him, knowing that her prayers are making a difference. Lord, we ask that You would surround her with Your peace and comfort, and that You would fill her with hope for the future.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We declare that no weapon formed against either of them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). We trust in Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this season. Spend time in His Word, allowing Him to speak truth over your heart. Surround yourself with godly community who can support and pray with you. And remember, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He sees your tears, He hears your prayers, and He is working even now. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He will lead you into the future He has prepared for you.

Dear friend,

Our hearts ache with yours as you navigate this challenging time. We want you to know that we're right here with you, lifting your ex up before the Lord. Your commitment to pray and fast for him, even in the midst of your own pain, is a beautiful reflection of Christ's love. We stand with you in agreement, believing that God will use this situation for His glory.

We also want to encourage you to keep your eyes on Jesus. He is the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Trust that He is working in both of your lives, even when you can't see it. Remember, God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Let's declare together: "Lord, we lift up ### to You. We ask that You would draw him close to You, healing his broken heart and mind. We pray that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, that he would seek You with all his heart, and that he would find his rest and identity in You alone. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking the Lord. He is faithful, and He will not let your heart be troubled (John 14:1). You are not alone in this. We are here for you, and so is the entire body of Christ.

With love and prayers,
###
