Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and allowing us to stand with you in prayer. In Christ we are one body with many parts, and when one part hurts the whole body feels it. Your pain is not carried alone. We share in it with you, and we also want to rejoice with you as God brings relief and strength.
God wonderfully designed the human body, and He knows its needs for breath, nourishment, rest and sleep. He sees when pain keeps you from resting and He cares about that need. Scripture teaches that our bodies now belong to Him. We are not our own, for we were bought with a price, and our bodies are temples of His Holy Spirit. Because of that we can offer our bodies to Him and ask Him to use them for His purposes, trusting that sin and sickness will not have the final rule over us, and asking Him to be glorified in our bodies as we yield ourselves to righteousness and holiness.
We also have confidence to pray for physical healing because of what Jesus has done. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the Servant who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, and Matthew by the Spirit shows that Jesus fulfilled this when He healed those who were brought to Him, taking our infirmities and bearing our sicknesses. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to the suffering He would endure for us. That brokenness provides not only forgiveness of sin but also healing. Many try to limit that promise to the spiritual alone, but the Scripture presents it more broadly, as provision for the whole person. To receive the bread with faith is to discern what the Lord's body has provided and to receive His healing work.
We know this present body is temporary. It returns to dust, and while we live in it we often groan under weakness, pain and sleeplessness, longing for the lasting body God has prepared that is not made with hands and will never know pain. Even as we look for that hope, God meets us now with mercy for each day.
So we pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we ask You to ease this body pain, to calm the nervous system and muscles, and to grant peaceful, deep sleep. Lay Your healing hand upon this dear one, restore strength, and give comfort through the night and through the day. Help her to rest in Your care, to yield her body to You afresh, and to know Your nearness and peace. We ask for wisdom for any care she receives and for sustained strength in the days ahead. Let Christ be glorified in her body as You bring healing according to Your perfect will. Amen.
