Prayer for healing

I will pray for your eyesight and for the resources you need for eye care. I also bring your home before God, asking Him to grant you the patience of Christ and to quiet the anger in your wife’s heart.

You are doing right to be patient. Patience is not weakness; it is love enduring affliction. God is not a God of war and fighting. Make war and fighting to cease, both against Him and against your neighbor. Be at peace with all men. The more your wife wars against you with harsh words, the greater your reward if you answer with gentleness and refuse to remember evil. Nothing so much delights God as to remember no evil.

Do not answer cursing with cursing or yelling with yelling. That does not mean you pretend her words are good, but it does mean you refuse to let them make you bitter. Keep hoping in what you do not yet see, and wait for it with patience. Let this trial press you closer to God, not away from Him. If the strife does not subside, seek counsel from a wise elder or pastor together. Do not bear this alone.

I will ask God to heal your eyes, open a door for your care, protect your home, convict your wife of her harsh speech, and give you both grace to honor your marriage covenant.

Your request has been received and we are joining you in prayer for both of these needs.

We are praying first for your eyesight and for the Lord to provide the care and resources you need. God sees your need and He cares about your body and your daily life. We ask Him to touch your eyes with healing according to His mercy and wisdom, to guide you to the right help, and to open the doors for provision so that you can receive the treatment you need. We also pray that as you wait, He will sustain you with His comfort.

We are also praying for your home life and for grace as you seek to respond with patience in a difficult situation. The Scriptures teach that God Himself is the God of patience and comfort. He is long suffering and He works out His purposes with great patience. Through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures we are given hope, because hope is bound up with God Himself. Apart from Him there is no real hope, but when we have Him, hope is enlarged and strengthened.

You have need of patience, as the letter to the Hebrews says, that after you have done the will of God you might receive the promise. The saints of old through faith and patience inherited the promises. Abraham waited many years before God fulfilled His promise of a son through whom the seed would come. Job endured great affliction and is set before us as an example of patient endurance, and we are shown in the end how full of pity and tender mercy the Lord is. James uses the picture of a farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting with long patience for the early and latter rain. In the same way the Lord shows great patience as He waits for His harvest.

That same patience is what we are called to show to one another. We are to be like minded toward one another according to Jesus Christ, being patient as God has been patient with us. We are thankful for how patient God is with us, and for how patient others are with us, and we are called to extend that same patience to others as we would want it shown to us.

We pray that God, who is the God of patience and consolation, will grant you a fresh supply of His patience and comfort day by day. May He fill your heart with hope from His Word, establish your heart as you wait on Him, and help you to bring forth fruit with patience. May He give you wisdom to respond with gentleness and love, and bring peace and understanding into your home. May He soften hearts, calm harsh words, and help both you and your wife to walk in kindness and respect toward one another in Christ.

Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this brother to You. Touch his eyes and bring healing as it pleases You, provide the resources and care he needs, and make Your provision clear. Pour out Your patience and comfort upon his home. Guard his heart from weariness, help him to not grow weary in well doing, and let him reap in due season as he continues to do Your will. Fill him with hope as he looks to You, and let Your peace rule in his house. Amen.
