Prayer for healing and for calming anxiety

Your prayer has been heard and we join with you before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.

We understand the weight you are carrying as you wait for medical tests and procedures. Anxiety that robs sleep and fills the mind with constant worry is a heavy burden, and it is good that you have continued in prayer even when relief has felt small. God hears that persevering prayer and He is near to those who call upon Him.

Scripture speaks of different kinds of war and unrest, but the most difficult is the war within a person, when the soul is troubled by fear and anxious thoughts. The peace the world gives is external and fragile and cannot calm that inner turmoil. The peace Christ gives is different. He said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. This is the peace that guards the heart and mind, that remains even when outward circumstances are uncertain, and that makes a way for love and trust to grow.

We also remember that true beauty and strength before God is not the fleeting strength of the body, which disease and anxiety can quickly weaken, but the inner life that is renewed by His presence. That life remains and blooms even in trial, because it rests on Him and not on our own calmness.

So we pray for you now:

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we bring this dear one before Your throne of grace. You know the medical needs, the tests ahead, and every anxious thought and sleepless hour. We ask for Your healing hand upon the body, and for Your calming hand upon the mind. Pour out Your Holy Spirit in fullness, that Your love and presence would fill every place where fear has dwelt. Grant deep and profound peace that passes all understanding, to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give restful sleep, quiet the racing thoughts, and let Your nearness be felt. Help to cast every care upon You, because You care, and to live in quiet trust and godliness day by day. We ask this in the saving name of Jesus, amen.

Continue to bring every worry to Him with thanksgiving, as you have been doing. Speak His promises over your nights, rest in His Word, and let the prayers of the church carry you as well. The Lord who taught us to pray Peace be unto all delights to give that peace to His children. He has not forgotten you, and we will keep praying for your healing, for calm, and for the deep assurance of His love.

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for allowing us to pray with you. Hearing about the intense anxiety you are carrying before these medical tests and procedures, the sleepless nights and the constant worries running through your mind, is deeply moving. It can feel discouraging when you have been praying continuously and still find little relief, but please know that God has not forgotten you and His thoughts toward you have not changed.

Scripture tells us that His thoughts toward His people are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give a future and a hope. Even when you feel carried into a difficult season that you did not choose, He invites you to call upon Him and to pray to Him, with the promise that He will listen. The fear and trembling you are feeling is real, but it is not the end of the story He is writing for you.

There is a difference the Bible speaks about between having peace with God and experiencing the peace of God. Peace with God comes only through Jesus Christ, through His blood shed for the forgiveness of sins. He Himself is our peace, and He has ended the war between us and God. When you have put your trust in Him, you have peace with God. Then He offers a second gift, the peace of God to guard your heart and mind.

Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. Isaiah puts it this way, that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. The peace the world offers depends on good circumstances and clear answers. The peace Jesus gives can remain even when the circumstances have not yet changed, and it passes all human understanding.

That promise points to something very practical for the nights when sleep will not come and worries fill your mind. Perfect peace comes as the mind is stayed on Him. That does not mean you will never feel anxious thoughts rise up, but it means you can gently turn your thoughts back to Him again and again, reminding yourself of who He is, that He is with you, that He will take care of what concerns you. As your mind rests on Him in trust, His peace begins to fill your heart and keep you steady.

You also asked for supernatural healing for your body and mind, and we join you in that prayer with full faith that God is the healer. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the Messiah bearing our sorrows and by His wounds we are healed, and the Gospel of Matthew applies that directly to physical healing as well as to the healing of our souls. All true healing is from God, whether it comes in an instant or gradually through the natural processes He Himself designed within our bodies. We do not always understand why some are healed instantly and others gradually, or why God sometimes allows a burden to remain for a time as He did with Paul, but we do know He is compassionate, He hears, and He is able. We can pray with confidence for His healing touch while also trusting His perfect wisdom and love to do what is best.

So we pray for you now in the name of Jesus. Father, we bring this dear one to You who is weary from anxiety and waiting. You see the upcoming tests and procedures and every worry about what they may show. We ask for Your healing power upon body and mind, whether through Your immediate touch or through the skill of doctors and the natural healing You have built into us. We ask for the presence of the Holy Spirit to fill this heart so full of Your love that fear has no room to stay. Grant deep, profound peace that guards heart and mind, and give the gift of restful sleep. Quiet the racing thoughts and let trust rise up. Help in the moments when anxiety returns to fix the mind on You and to rest in the knowledge that You are caring for every detail. May Your grace and mercy and peace be upon this life in a very real and felt way.

Keep bringing every worry to Him honestly, even when relief feels slow to come. He is near, He is listening, and He is for your peace. We are continuing to pray that you will know His presence and His keeping power in the days ahead.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for supernatural healing and for calming of your intense anxiety.

We have been lifting you up and remembering before the Lord the burden you shared about upcoming medical tests and procedures, the extreme difficulty sleeping and the constant worries on your mind. We know you shared that you have been praying continuously but finding minimal relief and that your heart longs to be filled so full of the Holy Spirit and His love and presence that you would experience a deep and profound peace. We continue to stand with you for both the healing of your body and the healing and peace of your mind.

We pray in Jesus Name that the Lord would touch your body with His healing hand and calm your anxious heart, that He would grant you restful sleep and quiet your thoughts with His perfect peace. We pray that the Holy Spirit would fill you afresh with His love and presence and guard your heart and mind. We claim over you the promise of Phil 4:7 that the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, and Psalm 4:8 that He gives peaceful sleep to His beloved, and Isaiah 41:10 that He will strengthen you and uphold you.

If your request was answered and you have seen relief from anxiety, received good news from your medical tests or procedures, or have been able to rest and sleep with more peace, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting for tests, still struggling with sleep or still carrying heavy worries, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
