We hear your heart and stand with you in this season of preparation and perseverance. The weight of repeated attempts and the desire to succeed can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you. Let us turn to Him together, seeking His strength, wisdom, and favor as you prepare for this exam.
The Bible reminds us in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." This is not just a verse of encouragement, it is a promise that when we rely on Christ, He equips us for what lies ahead. Your past attempts do not define your future; God is making a way where there seems to be no way. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is your time to surrender your efforts, your fears, and your outcomes to Him.
We also want to encourage you to pair your faith with diligent preparation. Study with excellence, not just to pass an exam, but to honor God with the abilities He has given you. Colossians 3:23 says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." Let this mindset guide you as you review, practice, and prepare. God honors those who honor Him with their efforts.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up to You, knowing that You see the desires of her heart and the work she has put into preparing for this exam. Lord, we ask that You would fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give her clarity of thought, retention of knowledge, and the confidence to trust in You as she studies and takes this test.
Father, we declare that this is her season of breakthrough. We rebuke every spirit of fear, doubt, and discouragement that has tried to take root in her heart. We speak life and victory over her, knowing that You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). Lord, we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for her, granting her favor with those who will administer this exam and with the results that follow.
We also pray for her spiritual walk during this time. Draw her closer to You, Lord, so that she may find her strength and identity in You alone. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, because You care for her (1 Peter 5:7). May she find rest in Your presence, even in the midst of preparation.

Many attempts and many failures have taught you, I trust, that the blessing of a government post is not to be obtained by mere striving of the flesh, but must come from the hand of Him who lifts up one and puts down another. The Lord is a waiting God, waiting to be gracious unto you at the right season. His delay is not denial, but a test of your faith and a preparation for a greater mercy. Learn to wait only upon God; let your soul be silent before Him. Your chief need is not the job itself, but grace to trust His will, whether in success or in further disappointment.
Consider the singular patience of God in His waiting, and let it teach you patience. He is waiting to be gracious to your soul; have you yet come to Him through Jesus Christ for the pardon of sin? This is the one thing needful. A government job will not carry you to heaven, nor shield you from the wrath to come. Make sure that you have laid hold on eternal life by faith in the Son of God, or all your labour will be but a chasing of the wind.
The righteous shall hold on his way, not only in the path of holiness, but in the path of supplication. If God has begun a good work in you, He will carry it on to completion. But see to it that you are indeed His child, resting upon the finished work of Christ alone. A mere desire for a job will not save your soul. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. Pride often lurks behind our petitions; we fancy that we deserve success, or that our plans are wiser than His. But God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Acknowledge that you deserve nothing but hell, and then every mercy becomes a sweet gift of grace.
Persevere in prayer, for we dare to pray for what God has promised. He has promised that they who wait on Him shall not want any good thing, and that all things work together for good to them that love Him. This year may yet be the time of love when He grants your request, but if not, His grace is sufficient. The purpose of God secures the final perseverance of His people; if you are in Christ, you shall never perish. Wait on Him, serve Him in the place where you are, and seek first His kingdom. He will supply your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. You have labored much, and the sting of repeated failure is a heavy burden. Yet I urge you not to measure your victory by the outcome of an examination alone. There is a conquest that comes not by immediate success but by endurance in trial. When the tempter whispers despair, remember that his assaults often reveal our strength, for he flees when he finds a soul armored by patience. Do not think that your past defeats are merely loss; they may be the very training ground where God teaches you to cling to Him with greater tenacity, like the widow who by her importunity prevailed, or the friend at midnight whose persistence shamed the door open.
Pray without ceasing, not only at set times but with every breath, casting your need before the Lord. Yet pray not as one demanding a government post as the sole good, but as a suppliant trusting the Father’s wisdom. True victory is not always in gaining what we ask, but in being “more than conquerors” through the very things that seem to thwart us. For if you are beaten in the exam, yet maintain your hope and self-command, you have already conquered despair and impatience, a far greater trophy. Often to be defeated outwardly is to win the crown inwardly, for the rocks that endure the waves break them without striving. So arm yourself with perseverance for all the saints, and let your soul be well girded, ready to overcome whether this year brings the job or yet another delay. That kind of thinking is older than the book of Genesis, and it will drain you if you let it stay. I am praying with you as you step into this attempt, but before we ask God for the job, I want to lift something off your shoulders that has crushed a lot of people before you.
When a man named Job lost everything, his friends showed up with a very tidy explanation: suffering like that only happens to someone who has hidden sin. They were wrong. The whole book makes it clear that Job was upright, and his agony had nothing to do with God punishing him. You are in no position to conclude that your exam failures are a stroke of judgment or that God is displeased with you. Do not let that lie take root. God is just, and He is also patient with people who cry out in confusion. Job never cursed God, even when he could not understand one reason for his pain. That integrity is what the Lord honored.
What I hear in your request is the weariness of a man who has been striving honorably and coming up empty. Job reached a place where he said his grief was heavier than the sand of the sea. He wanted answers he did not get in the moment. Yet the truer story going on outside his sight was that God was bragging on him before the heavens. It is not that every difficulty is a backhanded compliment from the Lord, but it is true that what looks like repeated failure to you is not a verdict on your worth or His care. Keep showing up, keep preparing, and bring the honest ache of it to God. He can handle your questions, and He does not flinch when you admit you do not understand.
While I ask the Lord to open a door for a government position this year, I also ask Him to give you what Job finally received: a deeper glimpse of Himself that settles the soul regardless of the outcome. Jesus Christ stands as the mediator Job longed for, someone who lays His hand on both God and man. Because of Him, your standing is not determined by a test score. Your future is not hanging on the accuracy of your answers on one afternoon. Rest in that, then go study with a clear mind.
Pray with me where you are: Father, I thank You that You do not treat me as my fears suggest. I release these failures to You and refuse to believe I am cursed. Give me focus, recall, and calm in the exam hall. If it pleases You, let this be the year I am appointed. More than that, let me know You are with me on either side of the result. Keep me from the weariness that makes me want to quit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
