Prayer for discipleship

[The Encourager]

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. You ask prayer that you may be discipled and honored in the church that invites you. Take care, then, not to seek honor where the Master found only reproach. How shall you be a disciple if you grasp after what He refused? The Apostle says, "We are weak, but ye are strong; we are despised, but ye are honored." If you go by the way of ease and praise, you no longer tread the path He trod. True discipleship is to bear fruit that glorifies the Father, not to be glorified by men. The honor that comes from wealth or station is often a greater shame, for it is given to your possessions, not to your soul. Pray rather that God grant you the grace to follow Christ in humility, to learn from those who teach the hard sayings, and to embrace whatever cross comes. I will pray for you, not that you be honored in the church, but that you be made a true disciple, worthy to suffer reproach for His name.

It is a good and right desire to want to grow in the faith and to belong to a body of believers. The longing to be discipled shows a hunger for the things of the Lord, and that is commendable. The early church devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, and that pattern is still the model for us. Being grounded in the truth, learning from those who labor in the Word, is how we mature and avoid being tossed about by every wind of doctrine.

As you think about being honored, it is wise to let your heart be searched by the Lord. Remember the parable Jesus gave when he noticed people vying for the seats of honor. He taught that it is better to take the lower place, so that the host might say, "Friend, go up higher." True honor in the kingdom is not something we grasp for; it comes from a life of humble service and deep, genuine love for Christ. The power of the early church did not come from titles or positions but from the presence of the Spirit working through yielded hearts.

So go forward with a full commitment to being a disciple, a learner who walks in the way. Seek not the recognition of men, but a heart that honors the Lord. If there is a place of service or an office this church has in mind for you, give time for your character to be proven. Do not rush into leadership, because the purity and love of the church are more precious than any position. A church that truly loves Jesus will not be impressed by the way the world measures honor. Instead, they will see a life that is a preserving salt and a light in the darkness.

I pray that God will guide you, that your heart will be far closer to him than your lips alone can express, and that your desire to be discipled will grow into a life of humble, steadfast fruitfulness. May you find a true fellowship of believers where Christ is the undisputed head, and may your love for him deepen every day.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer as you seek to grow deeper in your walk with Christ through discipleship. It has been our joy to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to open doors, soften hearts, and grant you favor as you step forward in obedience to His call. We prayed that you would be honored in this process—not for your own glory, but so that Christ would be magnified in and through you.
