Prayer for a miracle

We are reaching out as close friends to ask everyone to please lift our dear friends up in prayer. Today, ### and his wife, ###, received the heartbreaking news that ###'s cancer has spread and is no longer curable. She will be stopping her current treatment, beginning a targeted therapy to help slow the progression, and seeking a second opinion in hopes of finding additional treatment options. They have also been told her life expectancy may be around two years. This weekend, ### and ### face the unimaginable task of sitting down with their precious teenage daughters, ### and ###, to share this devastating news. Please pray for God's healing hand to rest upon ###, for strength and unwavering faith for ### as he walks beside his wife and daughters, for wisdom and guidance for every doctor involved, and for peace, courage, and the right words as they face the difficult days ahead. Please pray that ### and ### will be wrapped in God's love, comfort, and peace as they process this heartbreaking news. Above all, we ask you to join us in praying boldly for a miracle. We know that God is still in control, He is still the Great Physician, and nothing is impossible for Him. Thank you for standing with ###, ###, ###, and ### in prayer.

We stand with you in this heartbreaking time, lifting up this precious family to the throne of grace. The news they have received is devastating, and our hearts ache with them as they face the unimaginable task of sharing this with their daughters. Yet we know that even in the darkest valleys, our God is near, and His power is not limited by medical reports or human understanding.

First, we rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to overwhelm this family. The Word of God declares, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We declare that this family will walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, clinging to faith even when the path ahead seems impossible. We also rebuke the advancement of this disease in the name of Jesus, for He is the Great Physician who still heals today. "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5 WEB). We stand on this promise and declare healing over this dear sister in Christ.

We pray for supernatural strength for her husband as he leads his family through this storm. May he be a pillar of unwavering faith, leaning not on his own understanding but trusting in the Lord with all his heart (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). Father, give him the right words as he speaks with his daughters, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. May their home be filled with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB).

For the doctors and medical team, we pray for divine wisdom. May they be guided by Your hand as they explore every possible treatment option. We ask that You would open doors to new therapies, second opinions, and breakthroughs that defy human logic. "Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us" (Ephesians 3:20 WEB).

Most of all, we pray for a miracle. We know that You are the God who raises the dead, who speaks to storms and they obey, and who turns mourning into dancing. We ask that You would stretch out Your hand and touch this sister’s body, commanding the cancer to leave and her health to be fully restored. Whether through medical intervention or divine intervention, we trust that You will work all things together for good (Romans 8:28 WEB).

We also pray for the daughters, that they would not be overcome by grief but would find their hope in You. May they experience Your comfort in ways that draw them closer to You, even in this pain. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18 WEB).

Finally, we ask that this family would feel the love of the body of Christ surrounding them. May they be reminded that they are not alone, and may Your presence be their constant refuge. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB) and that joy will come in the morning (Psalm 30:5 WEB).

Lord, we boldly ask for a miracle. We believe that nothing is too hard for You, and we trust that You will be glorified in this situation. Whether through healing, comfort, or strength to endure, we know that You are working. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. Amen.

We join you in lifting this family up, and our hearts ache with yours at such unexpected news. We are praying alongside you, not only for the miracle we all long for, but for the daily mercies that walk with them right now.

This weekend will be heavy. As they sit with their teenage daughters, the most healing thing they can bring is simply their presence, not a polished script. It’s more than okay if they don’t have answers; they can tell the girls, “We don’t know what’s ahead, but we will face it together.” Let tears come, questions linger, and silence hold. That kind of honesty, even when it feels ragged, builds a safe place for the whole family to grieve and stay close.

As friends, you can be a steady, practical arm of that safety. Small, tangible kindnesses carry more love than we realize, dropping off a meal, driving the girls to practice, mowing the lawn, or simply sitting with someone on the hard days. These acts say “you are not alone” in a language that words often miss. Consider quietly organizing a few trusted people to take over everyday needs so the family can conserve their emotional energy.

Above all, we hold them up in prayer.

Lord Jesus, we ask for your healing hand on ###. We do not understand why this has come, but we trust you are with them in this storm. Give ### steady strength and unwavering faith as he walks beside his wife and daughters. Grant every doctor wisdom and compassion. Wrap ### and ### in your peace as they share this news, and hold their daughters close as they process what no child should have to. We pray boldly for a miracle, knowing nothing is impossible for you, and we ask that even in the hardest stretches you would be their refuge, their comfort, and their hope. Amen.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. The bitter cup is pressed to the lips of your friends, and we enter with them into the shadow. The doctors have spoken what their wisdom can know, but the Great Physician has not yet said His final word. He who made the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see the tears that fall?

We are not without hope, for our hope is in the living God. The news that cancer has spread and is deemed incurable is like a sentence written in dust, for the wind of the Spirit may blow it away at any moment. Our Lord Jesus Christ walked into the very jaws of death and brought forth Lazarus bound in graveclothes; He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. One touch of His garment, one whisper of His command, and the disease must obey.

Pray then with boldness, for the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise her up. Yet, dear friends, let that faith rest not on a sign but on the bare Word of a promise-keeping God. The smallest faith, if it be genuine, is precious and can work wonders, like a grain of mustard seed moving mountains. Encourage this dear sister to look unto Jesus, not only for possible healing but for the sure forgiveness and peace that flow from His cross.

In Him, pardon and healing walk hand in hand, and even if the earthly body waste away, the inward man is renewed day by day. The very leaves of the Tree of Life are for healing, and the least thing about Christ is full of virtue for the sin-sick soul. Let the husband lean his weight upon the Almighty arm; it will not fail him. Let the children be carried to the same Savior who took little ones in His arms and blessed them.

He will give the right words, for the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities. We will join our faith with yours, not because we can command miracles by our asking, but because we trust the One who commands all things according to the counsel of His will. If He sees fit to grant a miraculous recovery, let us praise Him; if He chooses rather to give sustaining grace to glorify Himself in the furnace, let us trust Him still. The miracle of sustaining grace is no less a marvel than the healing of the body.

Have faith in God, limit not the Holy One of Israel, and remember that nothing is impossible with Him. This trial may become the very chariot by which faith ascends to the throne. We will not cease to cry day and night until the answer comes, and we commit them into the hands of Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. May the Lord Himself be their strength and portion forever.
