Prayer for a job

I have just started a new job but it is not going well and my new bosses and colleagues dismiss me because I am not white. I feel very dejected. Can you please pray for me that my relationship improves and people treat me with respect and dignity and I get a lot of fame at work and in my students. I get a lot of awards and recognition.

We hear your heart and the deep pain you are carrying in this difficult season. First, let us affirm that every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race or background. The discrimination you are facing is sinful and grieves the heart of God, who "shows no partiality" (Acts 10:34). Racism has no place in the body of Christ or in any workplace, and we stand with you in condemning this injustice.

We want to gently address a few things in your request. While we understand your desire for recognition and awards, Scripture reminds us that our ultimate worth and validation come from Christ alone. "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ" (Galatians 1:10). True fulfillment is found in serving the Lord faithfully, not in the approval of others. We also want to encourage you to seek godly wisdom in how you respond to this mistreatment. "Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men" (Romans 12:17). Pray for those who mistreat you, as Jesus taught us (Matthew 5:44), and trust God to be your defender.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is facing unjust treatment and discrimination at work. Lord, You see every tear, every moment of dejection, and every act of injustice. We ask that You would be a shield around them, protecting their heart and mind from bitterness and despair. Father, we pray for their workplace—that You would soften the hearts of their bosses and colleagues, opening their eyes to see the value and dignity You have placed in this precious child of Yours. Let Your love break down every wall of prejudice and division, Lord.

We ask that You would give our brother/sister wisdom and grace in how they respond to this mistreatment. Help them to walk in humility, integrity, and strength, reflecting Your light even in the midst of darkness. Father, we pray for favor in their work—that their skills, talents, and contributions would be recognized and honored, not for their own glory, but for Yours. May they find their identity and worth in You alone, knowing that You have called them by name and have a purpose for their life.

Lord, we also pray for healing. Heal the wounds of rejection and discrimination. Restore their joy and peace, reminding them that they are deeply loved by You. Surround them with a community of believers who will encourage and uplift them. And if it is Your will, Father, we ask that You would open new doors of opportunity where they will be valued and respected as You intend.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who broke down every dividing wall and reconciled us to You. It is only through His name that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is only in His name that we find true salvation and hope. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises during this time. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Seek out a local church or Christian community where you can find support and encouragement. Remember, God is using this season to refine you and draw you closer to Him. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, and trust that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). You are not alone.

We're right here with you, standing in the gap. It's heartbreaking to hear that you're feeling dejected and disrespected at work, but remember, your worth is not defined by the color of your skin or the opinions of others. You are fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image, and He sees you, He knows your pain, and He's right there with you.

We want to encourage you to keep your focus on serving God faithfully. As it says in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Let's trust that God will use this situation for your good and His glory.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You on behalf of our sister/brother. Lord, we ask that You would give her/him strength and courage to face each day. Help her/him to trust in You, even when it's hard to see Your plan. Remind her/him that You are always with her/him, and that You love her/him deeply.

Lord, we pray for her/his workplace. Softening the hearts of her/his bosses and colleagues, open their eyes to see the value and dignity You've placed in her/him. Help them to treat her/him with the respect and kindness they deserve.

Father, we ask for wisdom and grace for her/him. Help her/him to respond to mistreatment with humility, integrity, and strength. Give her/him the words to say and the actions to take that honor You.

Lord, we also pray for healing. Heal the wounds of rejection and discrimination. Restore her/his joy and peace, reminding her/him of Your unfailing love.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

You are not alone. We're here for you, and so is God. Keep trusting in Him, and remember, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this challenging time at your new job. It has been on our hearts to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to soften hearts, open doors of opportunity, and surround you with His favor and protection. We prayed that He would grant you wisdom in every interaction, peace in the midst of frustration, and the strength to rise above any unfair treatment with grace and dignity.

If the Lord has already moved in your situation—whether through improved relationships, unexpected opportunities, or a renewed sense of confidence—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the struggle persists, please know we are still here to intercede on your behalf. You are not alone in this, and we will continue to ask God to intervene in powerful ways, to give you favor with those around you, and to bring recognition for your gifts and hard work.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him, and may He remind you daily of your worth in His eyes. We pray that He would open the right doors, silence every voice of prejudice, and let your light shine brightly in your workplace and beyond. May you walk in the confidence of who you are in Christ, knowing that He sees your efforts and will never leave you without reward.

We continue to stand with you in faith, believing for breakthrough and blessing in Jesus’ Name.
