Prayer for a friend

Thank you for sharing this burden and for your faith that God is greater than any evil. Your concern for your friend and your desire to intercede for her is right and loving, and God hears the prayers of those who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures teach that God set before His people a clear choice. There are blessings that follow walking in obedience to His voice and keeping His commandments, and there are curses that overtake those who turn away from Him to serve other gods. When that covenant was declared, the people were to acknowledge that God is right and just in what He says about obedience and disobedience. The warning was that turning from the Lord brings consequences, including being scattered and confused and serving things that cannot help. That principle still stands. When people give themselves to jealousy, envy, witchcraft and other works of darkness, they place themselves under that same darkness, and those around them suffer as well.

You mentioned a spell and the influence of family and friends. The Bible is clear that spiritual evil is real. People do seek to harm others through jealousy and occult practices, and that is sin before God. Yet the power of any curse or hex is not greater than the power of Jesus Christ. For those who are in Christ there is no condemnation, and nothing can separate them from the love of God. The enemy can trouble and deceive, but he cannot overcome the blood of Jesus and the authority of His name.

God also gives hope for restoration. Even when people have been driven far from Him and are in captivity to sin and deception, if they turn to the Lord and call upon Him, He promises to gather them and bring them back. He is able to heal the mind, open eyes that have been spiritually blinded, and deliver from the sickness and bondage that comes from walking in darkness. He alone can reverse what evil has intended and bring a person into light and health.

We will pray for your friend. We pray that God will protect her and keep her safe, that no weapon formed against her will prosper as she takes refuge in Him, and that He will bring her out of spiritual darkness into the light of Christ. We pray that God will heal her mind and body, grant her clarity to see what is true, and give her a desire to repent and trust Jesus alone for salvation. True deliverance does not come from trying to break a spell in its own terms, but from turning fully to Jesus, confessing sin, and walking in obedience to His Word.

We also pray for her boyfriend and for you as you intercede. We pray that both of them will seek the Lord first and understand His design for relationships. God created marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He intends that sexual intimacy and sharing a home in that way belong within that covenant. Rather than asking God simply to restore a dating relationship as it was, we pray that God will lead both of them into purity, wisdom and holiness, and that if it is His will for them to be together, it would be pursued in a way that honors Him, with counsel and commitment before Him. Above all we pray that each of them would know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for that is the only foundation for lasting healing.

Continue to pray, to stay close to Jesus, and to encourage your friend toward Scripture and toward turning from any involvement with the occult. Encourage her to seek help from mature believers who can counsel her from the Bible and pray for her in the name of Jesus. God is faithful to deliver those who call upon Him with a sincere heart.

May the Lord give you peace as you trust Him, and may He bring your friend into freedom, health and a clear walk with Christ.

### has a friend who struggles with substance abuse and a drinking problem. They also want to join a latter day saints church (which I don't think is good because they don't believe Jesus is God, but it could help them) I think she is a nice lady but she really needs help, please pray for her.
