We hear your heart cry and we join with you in bringing this before the throne of grace, for you have been honest about a heavy struggle and we thank you for reaching out. You have taken a deliberate step to hide computer devices to get rid of pornography in your life and that is a step toward fleeing temptation, and we want to encourage you to continue to flee and to fight in the strength Christ gives.
The Word of God is clear that pornography is not harmless, it is lust of the heart and sexual immorality outside of God's design. Jesus said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. We are called to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. God created sexuality to be enjoyed within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and anything outside of that, whether in act or in the mind through images, falls short of His holy will. We rebuke this sin in love because it harms your soul, your mind, and your closeness with God, but we also rejoice that there is forgiveness and cleansing when we confess. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9.
You say you feel so far from God, under demonic attack, with pressure in your head, unable to sleep, feeling down and worthless, and that this makes you go further into this sin. We want you to know that God has not moved away from you. You are not worthless. You are made in the image of God and fearfully and wonderfully made in Psalm 139:14, and He is near to those who are brokenhearted in Psalm 34:18. Nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord in Romans 8:38-39. The enemy does attack our minds, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places in Ephesians 6:12. But we are told to be subject therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you, draw near to God, and he will draw near to you in James 4:7-8. We are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure in Philippians 4:8.
We also notice your request asks for prayer but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full faith in Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and for power to overcome.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You know the battle with pornography, the hiding of devices, the weariness, the sleepless nights, the heaviness in the head and the feeling of demonic oppression and worthlessness. We ask for Your forgiveness where there has been lust and sexual immorality, cleanse with the blood of Jesus and create a pure heart. We ask that You break every chain of addiction and lust, and give strength to flee temptation, for God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Help him to keep devices out of reach, to invite godly accountability, to fill his mind with Your Word and to walk in the light with other believers.
Lord, draw near to him as he draws near to You. Let him feel Your love bombarding him, healing his mind and heart. Speak to his worth and identity in Christ, that he is loved, chosen, and not forsaken. We rebuke every work of the enemy in Jesus name and put on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6:11, asking for Your peace to guard his heart and mind. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:6-7. Grant him deep, restful sleep, for You give sleep to Your beloved and we pray he will lie down and sleep in peace in Psalm 4:8. Heal his head, calm his thoughts, and lift this heaviness, and let Your joy and hope be restored.
We thank You that You are our help. Our help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth in Psalm 121:2. Continue to keep him, strengthen him day by day, and lead him into freedom and holiness. We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep that practical step of removing access, but also add daily time in Scripture, prayer in Jesus name, and a trusted Christian brother or pastor for accountability and counsel. Do not stay isolated, God intends us to walk together. When temptation comes, call on Jesus immediately, recite Scripture aloud, and turn your eyes to what is pure. God is able to heal and restore you completely.
