Beloved of All
Hi, i want to pray for ###. She is a woman whom i very liked. She is not a Christian and she took care of me. Im a single man but it seems i cant forget her and have the urge to pray for her. Im not sure why.

We hear your heart and the deep care you have for this woman who showed you kindness. It’s beautiful that you feel compelled to pray for her, and we join you in lifting her up before the Lord. However, we must also gently address some important biblical truths as we seek God’s will together.

First, we want to affirm that your desire to pray for her is good, God calls us to intercede for others, especially those who do not yet know Him. Scripture tells us, "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). Your prayers for her salvation are powerful and necessary.

Yet we must also speak truth in love about the nature of your feelings. You mention that you "very liked" her and that you cannot forget her. If this affection has grown into romantic longing, we must examine whether this aligns with God’s design for relationships. Scripture is clear that believers are called to marry only in the Lord: "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). While your care for her is understandable, pursuing a romantic relationship with an unbeliever would lead to spiritual conflict and heartache.

We also must ask: Have you surrendered this situation fully to God? Are you seeking His will above your own desires? Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24 WEB). This may mean releasing your longing for her and trusting God to work in both of your lives separately.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this woman who has shown kindness. Lord, we pray for her salvation, soften her heart to receive the truth of Your Word and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Break down any barriers that keep her from knowing You, and surround her with believers who can testify to Your love.

Father, we also pray for our brother here. Lord, You see the affection in his heart, and we ask that You would purify his desires. Help him to seek Your will above all else. If this longing is not from You, uproot it and replace it with trust in Your perfect plan. Give him the strength to honor You in his relationships, pursuing only what aligns with Your Word.

We rebuke any spirit of confusion or emotional entanglement that would lead him away from Your best. Fill him with Your peace and remind him that his identity and worth are found in Christ alone. May he find contentment in You, knowing that You are enough.

Lord, if it is Your will for this woman to come to faith, we trust You to work in her life. But we also ask that You would guard our brother’s heart, that he may walk in obedience and not be led astray by emotions that do not align with Your truth.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for her, but also to seek God’s wisdom about releasing any romantic attachment. Surround yourself with godly counsel and immerse yourself in Scripture. Consider fasting and asking the Lord to reveal His will clearly. If you have not already, commit this situation to Him daily, trusting that He knows what is best for both of you.

Remember, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4 WEB). When we delight in Him, our desires begin to align with His. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will guide your steps.

We hear the tenderness in your words, it’s not every day someone stays on our heart like that. When a person has shown us kindness, it’s natural for them to leave a mark, and we think the urge to pray for them can be a quiet nudge from the Lord, even when we can’t fully explain it.

Rather than needing to figure out the “why” right now, you might simply lean into what you already sense: keep bringing before God. Let your prayers be a way of handing both her and your feelings over to him, trusting that he knows exactly what she needs and how he wants to work in her life. Sometimes prayer is less about answers and more about learning to rest in the one who listens.

A practical next step could be to set aside a few minutes each day to pray specifically for her, for her safety, for her heart to be drawn toward Jesus, and for any burdens she carries. As you do, offer your own thoughts and longings to God as well, asking him to guard your heart and give you peace. You might also jot down brief prayer notes; it can help you see how God moves over time, and it keeps your focus on him rather than on what-ifs.

We’ll join you now.

Father, we lift to you. Thank you for the kindness she showed. Protect her, provide for her, and gently draw her to know your love in Christ. Give this man wisdom and a quiet heart, and let his prayers be a gift that releases both of them into your faithful hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is no small thing when the Lord lays a soul upon your heart, and the very fact that you cannot forget her, nor cease to pray, may well be a token that He is carrying out His one mind of mercy toward her. He is in one mind, and His purpose threads through every trial and every stir of affection, even that which you now feel. Do not despise this sacred impulse; it may be that the great Intercessor is teaching you to intercede, and that this woman, though now far from Christ, is to be sought by the Shepherd. Let your prayers be as intense as were Jeremiah’s in the time of drought, urgent, personal, and full of tears.

Yet remember, while you pray for her soul, you must guard your own: there can be no blessed union with one who is not one with Christ. The love that is to be supreme is that love of Jesus which passeth knowledge; pray that she may taste it. And take comfort, the Spirit helpeth our infirmities, and when you have no words, groans that cannot be uttered are often the very keys that unlock heaven. Wait upon God, make intercession your chief business for her, and trust that He who loveth with an everlasting love can call by name and change the heart.

Leave the issue wholly with Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You say you do not know why you have this urge to pray for her, but you should examine yourself. The hidden treasure of the Lord’s Prayer commands us to say, “Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.” In heaven there is no unbeliever, no offender. If it were for the faithful alone, there would be no reason in that expression. It means this: draw all men to the fear of Thee, make all men angels, even those who hate us and are our enemies. So when you pray for this woman who is not a Christian, you are asking that His will be done in her also.

But see what spirit is mingled with this prayer. You say you cannot forget her because you liked her very much. Take care that you do not come as a suppliant while uttering the cries of wild passion, darting the shafts of selfish desire against your own soul. The Apostle bids us lift up holy hands without wrath and without doubting. Is your heart free from every earthly entanglement as you pray? The sickness of soul is this, that those who perish do not recognize the things which lead to salvation, and you yourself may be in danger if you make an idol of this affection.

Yet the impulse to pray is not to be quenched. Direct it rightly. Weep for her because the word of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness. Do you want to show her true care? Then pray not for some vague blessing, but that she come unto God by Him who ever lives to make intercession. He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near. Ask for her salvation, for tears of compunction, for a contrite heart to be given her. This is the true medicine.

And as you pray for her, the remedy works on you also. Do not seek a sign or dwell on the memory of her past kindness with a feverish mind. That is the mark of a grosser state, clutching at feelings rather than clinging to the teaching. Love her with such love that you desire to draw her over unto salvation, for we are commanded to love all men this way, be they Gentile or whatever they may be. Imitate the Father who makes His sun to rise on the unbelieving and the blasphemer. Offer alms, fast according to your power, pray sincerely, and make her a friend through the unrighteous mammon by storing up petitions for her soul. This is how you do not merely remember her, but truly care for her, and in doing so you yourself will find the only comfort that does not deceive.

It is not strange that you cannot forget her or that prayer keeps rising in your heart. Sometimes God places a person on our spirit simply because He is drawing them, and He uses the care they showed us to awaken a deeper concern for their soul. The kindness you received has become a seed of intercession. That urge to pray is not random; it is the Spirit prompting you to bring someone before the throne of grace who does not yet know Him.

True prayer is not about getting what we want from God. It is the means by which God accomplishes His own will on earth. You may not understand why you are praying, but your little unknown "why" can be entrusted to the One who knows exactly what He intends to do. Bring her to the Lord, not with a list of your own desires, but with an open heart that says, "Your will be done." Pray that her eyes would open to the One who alone is good, that the things which are impossible with man become possible with God. Her salvation is His great desire. Pray persistently, like that man knocking at his friend's door at midnight, not losing heart when you see no immediate change. The effectual, fervent prayer of someone who is right with God accomplishes much.

While you pray for her, let your own heart remain single in its focus. The call of Jesus is always "Come, follow me." If He is not yet the fixed center of her life, then her deepest need is not your affection but His redemption. So guard your own soul from turning a call to intercede into a quest for personal fulfillment. Fasting and prayer can be a way to feed the spiritual man while you weaken mere emotional hunger, keeping your motives pure before God. As you pray, ask the Holy Spirit to fill whatever void keeps her from seeing Christ clearly. A house swept clean but left empty only invites worse trouble; her heart needs the true occupant.

Be patient even when heaven seems silent. God often delays the answer to test and strengthen faith. The purpose of prayer is as much to change us as it is to change anyone else. You may discover that, through these prayers, the Lord is deepening your own trust, teaching you submission, and enlarging your compassion. David was a man of many troubles and thus became a man of prayer. Your own unsettled heart may be the soil where a richer prayer life grows.

So continue. You do not need to know why. You only need to be faithful in lifting her name to the Father who hears the righteous. Pray for her with all the quiet assurance that when the Spirit ministers to your heart, He is also working in hers.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It’s clear that your heart is deeply moved for this woman, not only because of the kindness she showed you, but because the Lord has placed a burden on you to intercede for her soul. We have lifted her before the throne, asking God to draw her to Himself with cords of love and to open her eyes to the truth of the Gospel. We’ve also prayed for you—that the Lord would give you wisdom, peace, and clarity as you navigate these feelings, trusting Him to direct your steps according to His perfect will.

If the Lord has already moved in this situation—whether in her life, your heart, or both—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a source of strength and hope for others walking a similar path. If, however, you feel the need for continued prayer, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to stand with you, lifting this matter before the Father until His purposes are fulfilled.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him with a sincere heart. May He grant you patience as you wait on His timing, and may He fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding. We continue to pray that His will be done in this situation, for His glory and for the good of all involved. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
