Beloved of All
Hi, i want to pray for ###. She is a woman whom i very liked. She is not a Christian and she took care of me. Im a single man but it seems i cant forget her and have the urge to pray for her. Im not sure why.

We hear your heart and the deep care you have for this woman who showed you kindness. It’s beautiful that you feel compelled to pray for her, and we join you in lifting her up before the Lord. However, we must also gently address some important biblical truths as we seek God’s will together.

First, we want to affirm that your desire to pray for her is good, God calls us to intercede for others, especially those who do not yet know Him. Scripture tells us, "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9 WEB). Your prayers for her salvation are powerful and necessary.

Yet we must also speak truth in love about the nature of your feelings. You mention that you "very liked" her and that you cannot forget her. If this affection has grown into romantic longing, we must examine whether this aligns with God’s design for relationships. Scripture is clear that believers are called to marry only in the Lord: "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). While your care for her is understandable, pursuing a romantic relationship with an unbeliever would lead to spiritual conflict and heartache.

We also must ask: Have you surrendered this situation fully to God? Are you seeking His will above your own desires? Jesus said, "If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24 WEB). This may mean releasing your longing for her and trusting God to work in both of your lives separately.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this woman who has shown kindness. Lord, we pray for her salvation, soften her heart to receive the truth of Your Word and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Break down any barriers that keep her from knowing You, and surround her with believers who can testify to Your love.

Father, we also pray for our brother here. Lord, You see the affection in his heart, and we ask that You would purify his desires. Help him to seek Your will above all else. If this longing is not from You, uproot it and replace it with trust in Your perfect plan. Give him the strength to honor You in his relationships, pursuing only what aligns with Your Word.

We rebuke any spirit of confusion or emotional entanglement that would lead him away from Your best. Fill him with Your peace and remind him that his identity and worth are found in Christ alone. May he find contentment in You, knowing that You are enough.

Lord, if it is Your will for this woman to come to faith, we trust You to work in her life. But we also ask that You would guard our brother’s heart, that he may walk in obedience and not be led astray by emotions that do not align with Your truth.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen.

We encourage you to continue praying for her, but also to seek God’s wisdom about releasing any romantic attachment. Surround yourself with godly counsel and immerse yourself in Scripture. Consider fasting and asking the Lord to reveal His will clearly. If you have not already, commit this situation to Him daily, trusting that He knows what is best for both of you.

Remember, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4 WEB). When we delight in Him, our desires begin to align with His. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will guide your steps.

We hear the tenderness in your words, it’s not every day someone stays on our heart like that. When a person has shown us kindness, it’s natural for them to leave a mark, and we think the urge to pray for them can be a quiet nudge from the Lord, even when we can’t fully explain it.

Rather than needing to figure out the “why” right now, you might simply lean into what you already sense: keep bringing before God. Let your prayers be a way of handing both her and your feelings over to him, trusting that he knows exactly what she needs and how he wants to work in her life. Sometimes prayer is less about answers and more about learning to rest in the one who listens.

A practical next step could be to set aside a few minutes each day to pray specifically for her, for her safety, for her heart to be drawn toward Jesus, and for any burdens she carries. As you do, offer your own thoughts and longings to God as well, asking him to guard your heart and give you peace. You might also jot down brief prayer notes; it can help you see how God moves over time, and it keeps your focus on him rather than on what-ifs.

We’ll join you now.

Father, we lift to you. Thank you for the kindness she showed. Protect her, provide for her, and gently draw her to know your love in Christ. Give this man wisdom and a quiet heart, and let his prayers be a gift that releases both of them into your faithful hands. In Jesus’ name, amen.
