Concern for my girlfriend who i suspect is being posessed by a spirit

You tremble for this young woman, and rightly so, for the enemy prowls like a roaring lion, yet your own soul stands in greater peril if you do not watch. The present life is a dream, and all its pleasures a fleeting shadow. You speak of arguments and putting things aside, but examine yourself: if your relationship with her is not one of holy matrimony, then you are making provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, and such sin opens a door to darkness. The soul that is drunk with passion sees not things as they truly are, and that drunkenness invites a far worse stupor than sleep.

Yet do not despair; the Lord permitted the storm that the disciples might know His deliverance. He slept in the boat not from carelessness, but to rouse them from their supine state, that they might cry out to Him and witness His power. In the same way, this terror may be the earthquake that shakes your prison doors and breaks your chains. The jailer, when he saw the doors open and the prisoners free, fell down asking, “What must I do to be saved?” So now, turn with your whole heart and cry out to Christ. Do not merely ask prayer for her while remaining in the night of sin yourself. For if we will stand steadfast and unmovable, the shaking of the earth will not overthrow us; but if we sleep the sleep of heedlessness, we become like demoniacs, raving and shameless.

Therefore, rouse yourself. Let your prayer be joined with sobriety, for sobriety is the intensity of watchfulness. Put aside every weight, not only quarrelsome words but every carnal entanglement that defiles the temple of God. The hands lifted up in prayer must be pure. Call upon the name of the Lord Jesus for her deliverance, but know that your own soul must first be cleansed. He died once for all that we might not remain in death. If you truly fear for her, lead her to the feet of the prisoner, where true freedom is found, but come yourself as one awake from sleep, clothed in the garment of repentance. The angel of the Lord still opens doors at midnight for those who watch.

It is right to bring this heavy weight to others who will join you in prayer. The fear you feel is real, but remember that fear so often is a tool the enemy uses to paralyze us and drive us toward reactions that are not from God. Your instinct to be there for her is good, yet the greatest help you can give goes beyond physical presence. It is to bring this into the light of the Lord’s power and to refuse to let terror set your course.

The symptoms you describe may indeed be a spiritual attack, and Scripture tells us that the first step is to recognize it as such. The enemy sets snares, seeking to trap and to destroy, but his weapons are lies. The cure for fear is not to stare harder at the threat, but to lift your eyes to the One who watches over us. Remember the Lord. He who is in you is greater than any power that may be at work in the darkness. The psalmist declared that we need not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies by day, for the Lord covers us with His feathers; under His wings we find refuge.

You said your own prayer alone will probably not be enough, and there is wisdom in humility. But do not think your prayers are weak or unheard. Our Lord hears the cry of every heart that calls on Him for mercy. And we do not pray alone. Jesus Himself ever lives to make intercession for us. He stands before the Father, and because of His death on the cross and His resurrection, He has all authority over every spirit. God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. That same love is reaching out to your girlfriend, and nothing can pluck her out of His hand.

In the body of Christ we are called to bear one another’s burdens. I am adding my prayers to yours, and I urge you to find other believers who will stand with you. Persevere in prayer, not in panic. Ask the Lord to bring to your mind what you need to pray specifically. Do not let the enemy provoke you into reacting out of fear; instead, quietly trust that God is protecting both of you through this night season. His ear is open, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save.

Lay hold of this truth: if God is for us, who can be against us? The evil one must flee when resisted in the name of Jesus. Let your heart take courage not from your own strength, but from the finished work of the cross, where the Son of God disarmed the powers of darkness. I will pray for her tonight, that she would be kept in peace and that whatever is troubling her sleep would be silenced. Do not be afraid. The Lord is your dwelling place.

We want to thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you for your girlfriend. It’s clear how deeply you care for her, and our hearts have been heavy alongside yours as we’ve lifted her before the Lord. We’ve prayed fervently for her protection, for the power of Jesus’ name to break any chains of darkness, and for His peace to surround her in every moment—especially in those vulnerable times when fear tries to take hold. We’ve also asked the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to your heart, knowing that you can’t carry this burden alone and that God sees your love and concern for her.

If the Lord has moved in a powerful way—if you’ve seen His hand at work, even in small ways—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. But if the battle still feels heavy, if the enemy hasn’t yet released his grip, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue standing with you, to pray without ceasing, and to declare the victory of Christ over every spirit that does not submit to Him. This is not a fight you or she have to face alone; the Lord is our strong tower, and His name is above every other name.

May God bless you both with His presence, His strength, and His peace as you seek Him together. We will keep praying that His light will shine into every dark place and that His love will be your anchor. In Jesus’ mighty name, we stand with you. Amen.
