We join you in earnest prayer for your husband, lifting him before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. The bondage of alcohol is a fierce struggle, one that grips not only the body but the mind and spirit, pulling many away from the freedom Christ offers. We stand with you, believing that God hears the cries of His children and moves mightily when we persist in faith. Scripture reminds us, "The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man avails much" (James 5:16). Your prayers are not in vain, and we trust that the Lord is working even now to draw your husband closer to Himself.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name, declaring that it has no hold over your husband. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Christ came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We pray that your husband’s heart would be softened, that the Holy Spirit would convict him deeply, and that the desire to turn away from alcohol would become his own, rooted in a genuine hunger for righteousness. May he find strength in God’s Word, which says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
We also lift you up, dear sister, for the weariness that comes from praying so long without seeing the fullness of the answer. Do not grow faint in well-doing, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Lean on the Lord for your own strength, and allow His peace to guard your heart as you wait. We encourage you to continue speaking life over your husband, even when his actions may not reflect change. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue," and your words of faith can be a powerful force in his life.
Father God, we come before You with humble hearts, asking for Your mighty hand to move in this situation. Lord, break the chains of addiction that have ensnared this man, and replace his desire for alcohol with a thirst for You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in the victory Christ has already won for him. Strengthen his resolve, Lord, and let him know that he is not fighting this battle alone, You are with him, and so are we. We ask that You would restore joy, peace, and purpose to his life, and that his testimony would bring glory to Your name.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for his wife, that she would know how to support him without enabling his struggle. Give her patience, grace, and unwavering faith as she waits on You. Surround them both with a community of believers who can encourage, pray, and hold them accountable. Lord, we ask that You would heal their marriage, drawing them closer to each other and to You. May their home be a place of refuge, filled with Your presence and love.
We declare in the name of Jesus that this stronghold will be broken. We speak freedom over this man, and we thank You, Father, for the work You are doing even now. May he rise up as a warrior for Your kingdom, no longer bound by the things of this world but fully alive in Christ. We trust You, Lord, and we thank You for the victory that is already ours in Jesus’ name. Amen.
