Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and the desire to be paired with your friend for this training assignment. It is a good and natural desire to want to learn and work alongside a friend, and God cares about the details of your life.
Training seasons have a purpose beyond just learning skills. Scripture speaks of trials and discipline as part of a refining process, like gold tried in fire, to purify and strengthen faith. It also reminds us that God is working all things together for good for those who love Him. That includes where you are placed and who you are grouped with. If you are placed together, thank Him for that gift. If you are not, trust that He has a good purpose in that placement as well and wants to use you right where you are. Like an athlete in training who is careful and disciplined to run to win, approach this assignment with diligence, self control, and a desire to give your best for the Lord.
Friendship is a precious gift. A true friend loves at all times, through good days and hard days, and there is a real closeness that grows when people learn, work, and even eat together. At the same time, the most important partnership you carry into any group is your walk with Jesus. Scripture says we are workers together with Him and that our bodies are the temple of the living God. It also warns not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers, not only in marriage but in any close yoke where you would be pulled to compromise. That means wherever you are assigned, you are called to come apart from what is unclean and walk in a way that honors Christ, so that His life is seen in you.
We will pray for you. We ask the Lord to grant favor if it is His will for you and your friend to be paired together, and to give you peace to trust His decision either way. We pray He will help you receive His grace not in vain but to walk with Him fully today, for today is the day of salvation and the day to follow Him. May He use you in this training to grow, to encourage others, and to reflect Jesus, whether you are side by side with your friend or serving in different groups.
