Pray he messages me

We hear the longing in your heart in this request and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord, yet we want to gently guide your heart toward God's perfect will and peace in this situation.

We understand the anxiety of waiting for a message and desiring a reply from this man, but we encourage you not to let your heart be consumed with worry or to make this man or his response into an idol above the Lord. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7 not to be anxious in anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also remember Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. And in 1 John 5:14 we learn that if we ask anything according to his will he listens to us, so our prayer is not to bend another person's will but to seek what God desires for you.

Regarding this relationship, we want to encourage you with biblical truth about courtship and marriage. We believe marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman designed by God, and any courtship between a man and a woman should be with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer. We encourage you to ask whether this man is a believer in Jesus Christ, for 2 Corinthians 6:14 teaches us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. If he is not a follower of Christ, we would urge you not to pursue him. We also encourage purity, for God's will is your sanctification that you abstain from sexual immorality and that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, as taught in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, and to flee sexual immorality as 1 Corinthians 6:18 instructs, because any sexual intimacy outside of marriage is fornication and does not honor God. If you are in courtship, let it be marked by purity, accountability and a clear movement toward godly marriage if it is the Lord's will. We also encourage you to delight yourself in Yahweh first, and he will give you the desires of your heart as Psalm 37:4 promises, and to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness as Matthew 6:33 says, and all these things will be given to you as well.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we encourage you to believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, for Romans 10:9 promises that you will be saved. It is through his name we pray and find hope, forgiveness and eternal life.

We now pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to you. You know her heart, her longing, and the man she is thinking about. We ask first that you draw her closer to yourself, that she would find her fullness and peace in you. We pray that you guard her heart from anxiety and give her your peace that surpasses understanding. Lord, if it is your will for this man to be a godly husband and for this relationship to lead to a Christ centered marriage, we pray that you would make that clear and open the door in your perfect timing. If it is not your will, we pray that you would close this door gently, heal any disappointment, and redirect her steps. We pray for this man as well, that he would seek you with all his heart and walk in obedience to you. Help them both to pursue purity and holiness, to flee from fornication, and to honor you in body and spirit. Above all we pray that your will be done in her life, for we know you have plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give her a future and a hope as Jeremiah 29:11 declares. We trust you to work all things together for good for those who love you according to Romans 8:28. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We are praying with you as you wait for a reply. That quiet in-between time can feel very long when you care about someone and you are watching for a message.

It makes sense that loneliness feels louder right now. When our hopes are tied to one response, it is easy to check the phone again and again and to start wondering what the silence means about us. Your worth is not set by whether or how quickly he answers, even when the waiting feels personal.

A steady step that often helps in this kind of waiting is to give yourself a little breathing room from the inbox. Try setting the phone aside for an evening, spending time with a trusted friend or family member, taking a walk, or being with others in worship and community where you are reminded you are not alone. As thoughts come, bring them honestly to God as they are, and ask for calm and clear wisdom about this connection and about your next steps.

Father, we lift our friend to You in this waiting. You see the longing to be seen and answered and the ache that comes with silence. Give comfort and steadiness tonight, guard dignity and peace, and grant wisdom to discern what is good and right going forward. Lead according to Your will and help our friend rest in Your faithful care. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we have brought you before the Lord with tenderness for your heart in this waiting.

There is a longing in your words, and it is good to ask what sort of desire this is and where it is fixed. The Scriptures show us that the best longing is not first for a word from man, but for God Himself. When the heart has lost the light of His countenance, the true cry becomes, Oh that I knew where I might find Him. That desire, when it pants after Christ and trusts in Him alone, brings peace like a river.

We understand the ache of waiting for a message and the fear that comes when silence lingers. The Word says, What time I am afraid, I will trust in You. And again, My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from Him. A waiting people are those who wait only upon God, not upon the arm of flesh nor upon the changeable creature. They wait expectantly and in hope, because the Lord waits that He may be gracious, and blessed are all they that wait for Him.

It is easy for the heart to make an idol of one person or one answer, to set all expectation upon whether he replies. Yet we cannot find God while we keep an idol in the tent. Away with the idols and then shall you find the true God. To wait only upon God means to make Him your one object in life. Godliness with contentment is great gain, and that contentment is found when we joy in God Himself, rejoicing that there is a God and delighting in Him as our Father through Jesus Christ alone.

So we will not ask God simply to grant a message from a man, for that may not be for your good, and we desire for you what is truly good. Instead we pray that you will be kept in simple faith in God by Jesus Christ, that you will know His mercy and forgiveness, and that you will find Him to be a very present help in this time of trouble.

We pray for you in this way, that the Lord would draw your heart to Himself, that you would trust Him for guidance and protection, that He would give you a calm and contented spirit to wait patiently upon Him, that He would cleanse your heart from every idol and fill you with joy in God, and that any relationship in your life would be ordered according to His holy Word, in purity and truth, with marriage honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as God has ordained. May the Lord reveal His will clearly to you, give you wisdom to walk in holiness, and grant you that peace which comes through our Lord Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation, and in whom we have access by faith into grace wherein we stand.

May you be able to say, My soul trusts in You, and in the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge, until these trials pass, and may you find your expectation not from man but from the Lord, who is ever gracious to those who wait for Him.
