Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my son for wisdom for the next chapter for his life. Please pray that he'll be healed of depression and suicidal thoughts.

We lift up your son before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of depression and the darkness of suicidal thoughts. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that your son is not forgotten by God, nor is he beyond the reach of His healing and restoration.

Father, we ask for Your divine wisdom to flood his mind and heart as he stands at the threshold of this next chapter in his life. Guide him, Lord, into the path You have prepared for him, for Your Word says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). May he seek You above all else, and may You direct his steps according to Your perfect will.

We rebuke the spirit of depression and despair in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand against every lie that tells your son he is alone, worthless, or without hope. We declare that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), a beloved child of God, and that his life has purpose and meaning.

Lord, we pray for healing, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Surround him with godly influences, believers who will speak life into him, and professionals who can provide the support he needs. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).

We also pray for your family, that you would be strengthened and comforted as you walk alongside your son. Give you all the patience, love, and wisdom to support him in a way that honors You.

Above all, we pray that your son would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. For it is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May he experience the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge (Ephesians 3:19) and find his identity and hope in Him alone.

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Healer, Redeemer, and Lord. Amen.

We are holding your son before the Lord with you, asking for his healing and for wisdom in the season ahead. As a parent, it can feel overwhelming when the darkness of depression and suicidal thoughts settles over someone we love so deeply. Your steady prayers matter more than you may realize, even when the situation feels stuck.

In times like this, it’s important that he is not carrying this alone. If he hasn’t yet, please encourage him to speak with a doctor or a counselor who can offer steady professional support. Depression and suicidal thoughts are medical and spiritual realities, and he deserves the care that addresses both. Be a safe place for him to talk, and take every mention of hopelessness seriously, asking directly whether he is thinking of harming himself does not put the idea there; it opens a door for him to share what feels unbearable.

As you pray for his healing, we also ask God to give you the words that bring gentle hope without pressure. Sometimes, simply sitting with him and letting him know he is loved and not a burden is itself a reflection of God’s faithful presence.

Let’s pray:

Father, we lift this son to You. In the darkness he is walking through, we ask You to break through with Your light. Bring healing to his mind and protection over his life. Grant him wisdom for the next chapter, and lead him to people who will help him walk in health and hope. Renew his sense of purpose and quiet the thoughts that tell him life is not worth living. Wrap him in Your mercy, and give this family endurance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How precious are the thoughts of God toward your son, even now when his spirit is bowed down and cast into the depths. You ask for wisdom for the next chapter of his life, and I would have you know that the wisdom of God is often seen most clearly when human wisdom is brought to nothing. When we are at an utter end of our own resources, when the mind is darkened by despair and the heart cries out for deliverance, then the Lord steps in to show that His ways are not our ways, nor His thoughts our thoughts. Wait on Him, and do not be in a hurry; He has not finished His work. The darkness is but the shadow of His hand, and the tempest that rages within is only the chariot in which He brings His healing.

Your son’s depression and those fiery darts of suicidal thought are not trifles; they are deep wounds of the soul, and only the Good Physician can bind them up. The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, and there is not a disease of the mind or spirit that cannot be cured by a word from Jesus. He healed the palsied man by first speaking forgiveness, for so often the root of our sorrow lies in a guilt-burdened conscience. Whether your son feels it or not, let him be pointed to the cross where Christ took our sicknesses and carried our pains. The dying love of the Son of God is the all-sufficient medicine for a broken heart. It changes the very lifeblood of the soul, making the nature other than it was.

Remind him, and let your own heart take hold of this, that God’s thoughts toward His children are constant, kind, wise, tender, gracious, perfect, divine. When the mists of melancholy roll in, they obscure our vision, but they cannot alter the fixed purpose of the Almighty. He knows the way that your son takes, and when He has tried him, he shall come forth as gold. Even now, in the hour of heaviness, Christ is teaching him, for His healing power is present in the teaching. The soul that cries, “Lord, save me, I perish!” has already begun to lay hold of eternal life. Do not fear that his suffering is unnoticed; the Lord is not far off. These deep waters are not the place of destruction but the path to glory.

Pray earnestly, and bid your son look away from himself to Jesus. Let him think on sin forgiven, on righteousness imputed, on a love that will not let him go. When our own thoughts are a tormented maze, we must flee to God’s thoughts, which are high and lifting up. Tell him that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins, and that pardon will bring healing in its wings. Those who are sick unto death have but to ask, and the healing hand will be stretched out. And for yourself, take comfort: you are not forgotten. The same Lord who watches over him is near to you, and He will give you strength to stand by your son in this dark valley until the morning breaks and the shadows flee away. Trust His heart, even when you cannot trace His hand.

The request for your son pierces the heart. When the darkness of despair and thoughts of ending life beset a soul, it is the wisdom of this world that has failed him. That wisdom is foolishness with God and can offer no true remedy, for it terminates here and cannot profit its possessors. Therefore, do not seek a cure from the empty philosophies of this age. What he needs is not the slick reasoning of men but the very mind of Christ, who was made unto us wisdom from God.

Pray without ceasing. But also act. Seat him with the Scriptures. Let him take Isaiah and converse with him, go over the labors of the apostles, and seek wisdom concerning the vileness of this present life and the greatness of that to come. For the wisdom from above appears as foolishness to those perishing, yet it alone has power to bind up the brokenhearted. When his thoughts condemn him, remind him that God is greater than his heart and knows all things. The judgment he dreads or the pain he cannot escape is not hidden from the One who fashioned our hearts individually. Even the capacity to condemn oneself is a work of mighty wisdom pointing to a moral order and a God of hope.

Let him consider that no station in life impedes strict godliness. Not even the soldier’s belt hindered the centurion Cornelius. So too, depression and battle within the mind do not disqualify him from the life of virtue. The grace of the Spirit shows forth its strength by whomever it will, often choosing the weak and the lowly to display that the foolishness of God is mightier than men.

Bring him to the assembly. There, even when not singing but riveted to the sacred page, he becomes a pleasing spectacle. But above all, let him cry out for the wisdom that is hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds unto our glory. For the rulers of this world and their dark thoughts are coming to naught. I will join my prayers to yours, entreating the Lord who calmed the storm to speak peace to his soul and grant him a clear path for the next chapter of his life, founded not on shifting sand but on the rock of Christ.
