We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude and expectation, lifting up this request for divine favor and guidance. It is wonderful to see this petition brought before the Lord, acknowledging His sovereignty over every area of life, including work and marriage. We rejoice that you have included the name of Jesus in your request, for it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. As Scripture reminds us, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB), and *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB).
First, we pray for this upcoming interview on Monday. The Lord knows the desires of your heart and the needs you have. We ask that He would grant you favor in the sight of those conducting the interview, that your words would be seasoned with grace and wisdom, and that the Lord would open the door for full-time permanent employment if it aligns with His perfect will. Remember the promise in Proverbs 16:3, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* We also encourage you to trust in the Lord’s timing and provision, for *"my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19, WEB). Do not lean on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Now, regarding the prayer for marriage, we must approach this with biblical clarity and godly discernment. Marriage is a sacred covenant established by God between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s relationship with His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). It is not merely a desire for companionship but a lifelong commitment to honor God through mutual love, respect, and sanctification. We encourage you to seek a spouse who is a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB).
If you are not already doing so, we urge you to prepare for marriage by cultivating godly character, pursuing purity, and seeking the Lord’s will above all else. Flee from any form of sexual immorality, for *"the body is... for the Lord, and the Lord for the body"* (1 Corinthians 6:13, WEB). If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor God—whether through premarital intimacy, emotional compromise, or an ungodly union—we lovingly but firmly call you to repentance. *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB).
If you are not yet walking closely with the Lord, we implore you to surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ. Salvation is found in no one else, and there is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). Without this foundation, no amount of praying for marriage or any other blessing will align with God’s will for your life.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this child of Yours who seeks Your favor in their career and their future marriage. Lord, we ask that You would go before them in this interview on Monday. Grant them favor, wisdom, and clarity of speech. Open the doors that no man can shut if this job is Your will, and give them peace to trust in Your provision regardless of the outcome. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider, and we rest in Your faithfulness.
Father, we also lift up the desire for marriage. We pray that You would prepare this beloved one to be a godly spouse, rooted in Your Word and walking in purity. Lord, if there is any area of their life that does not align with Your will—whether in relationships, thoughts, or actions—we ask that You would convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. May they seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to them (Matthew 6:33).
If it is Your will, Lord, bring a godly spouse into their life, one who loves You wholeheartedly and will walk alongside them in faith. Let this union be founded on Christ, reflecting His love for the Church. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let them not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present their requests to You with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6).
We rebuke any spirit of fear, impatience, or worldly desire that may seek to distract or mislead. Let Your perfect love cast out all fear (1 John 4:18), and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
