Disciple of Prayer
A Prayer Request for ### and ###
Please pray for ### and his wife ###. After many years in the Jehovah’s Witnesses, ### began studying Scripture on his own and came to see that the organization’s teachings—especially about Jesus, salvation, and the way it disciplines members—do not align with the Bible. With a heavy heart, he has chosen to leave. ###, however, was raised as a Witness from early childhood. She remains deeply committed to the organization and feels that ###’s departure has ripped away her spiritual family. The strain has been enormous. ### has had to set firm legal boundaries to protect himself and his family from the elders’ intrusive practices—the secret note‑taking, the information‑gathering visits, and the threat of judicial committees. He did this behind ###’s back, because he feared her reaction. When she found out, she was furious. Last Thursday, after a heated argument, she told him it was over between them. She said, “You cannot convert me. I am a Jehovah’s Witness. It’s over.” They are now living as strangers in the same house, sleeping in separate beds, the marriage hanging by a thread. ### has tried to explain what he learned about the elder’s manual, the fishing expeditions, the evidence‑gathering, and how the two‑ and three‑person panels are designed to divide families and enforce shunning. But ### cannot hear it yet. She is too afraid, too indoctrinated, too loyal to the only spiritual home she has ever known. Please pray for ###. Pray that the Holy Spirit would convict her heart and gently open her eyes—not to prove ### right, but to see the real Jesus, the one Mediator who saves completely, whose love casts out fear. Pray that God would untangle her identity from the organization and ground it in Christ alone. Pray that she would begin to see the difference between the Board of Governors and the true Head of the church. Pray for ###. He is exhausted, depressed, and often feels frozen by fear and grief. He loves ### deeply and does not want to lose her. He needs patience, wisdom, and the strength to keep showing love even when she is cold or angry. Pray for their marriage. It feels like it’s over, but nothing is impossible for God. Pray that the Lord would protect their covenant, heal the wounds of the past, and restore what the enemy and the organization have tried to destroy. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” — Ezekiel 36:26
