Pray for my suicidal friend

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my friend ### who is so depress and have given up to find a job. She will lose her house if she does not have one but she keeps getting rejection letters. She is suicidal at the moment

We are deeply burdened with you for your friend and we join you in bringing her before the Lord in this very dark and desperate hour. We hear how heavy this has become for her with the constant rejection letters, the fear of losing her house, and the depression that has led her to feel suicidal, and we want you to know we are standing with you in prayer and love for her.

We want to gently but firmly speak truth over this situation because every life is precious to God and made in His image. Suicide is never the will of God for any person. The Lord sees her pain and He is near to her even now. Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. The enemy would have her believe there is no hope and no way forward, but God has a purpose for her life and His love for her has not changed even when her circumstances feel overwhelming. Isaiah 41:10 encourages us Dont you be afraid, for I am with you. Dont be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We urge you to stay close to her and to make sure she is not alone right now. Please encourage her to reach out immediately for help to a trusted pastor, counselor, doctor, or family member, and if she has a plan or is in immediate danger please help her contact local emergency services or a suicide prevention helpline in your area and stay with her until help arrives. Your presence, your listening ear, and your continued prayers mean more than you know. Remind her that her worth is not determined by a job or a house, and that God cares about every practical need she has. Matthew 6:33 tells us But seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Philippians 4:19 assures us My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Even when doors have closed, God is able to open the right door in His perfect timing, and Romans 8:28 reminds us that We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true hope and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 teaches There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Our hope is not in circumstances improving alone but in knowing Christ who gives us new life. If your friend does not yet know Him, we pray she will come to believe in Him, confess Him as Lord, and receive His forgiveness and peace, and if she already knows Him we pray she will run to Him now as her refuge.

We lift her up together now in prayer. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear friend to You. You see her tears, her exhaustion, her fear about her home and her future, and the heaviness that has made her feel like giving up. Lord we ask You to surround her with Your presence, to lift the darkness of depression and despair, and to speak life and hope over her. Protect her from harm and from the lies of the enemy. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved. Psalm 139:14. Provide for her needs, open a door for meaningful work in Your timing, and give her peace that surpasses understanding as described in Philippians 4:7. Give her friend who is interceding for her wisdom, courage, and words of life to speak to her, and help us all to bear her burden well. Lead her to godly counsel and help and draw her close to Jesus where true hope is found. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

Father, we lift ### to You and ask You to draw near to her in this dark night. Give her a sense of Your presence and a glimpse of hope for tomorrow. Give our friend wisdom, stamina and support as he cares for her, and guide them both to help that stays close. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden for your friend has been heard and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace. To see one so pressed down by repeated disappointment and the fear of losing her home, and to hear that she speaks of ending her life, is cause for tender and earnest prayer, and we do not take it lightly.

Be assured that depression of spirit, even when it sinks to despair, is not a proof that God has cast the sufferer away. Our Lord Himself knew what it was to have His soul very heavy in the garden, and to cry out in great sorrow of heart. None of us have such cause for heaviness as He had, and yet He bore it, and He lives to help those who now feel overwhelmed. The God who forsook Him in that dark hour will never forsake those who trust in Him. A deep heaviness may come quite involuntarily, when the body has for a time conquered the soul through weariness and long strain, and you must not condemn your friend as though her sorrow were a strange or unpardonable thing. It is a common lot of the tried, and even the prophet Elijah, after great exertion, sat down and fainted in spirit.

There is one cure all for depression of spirit which remains, and that is prayer. When the spirit is overwhelmed within, we are to look to the Rock that is higher than we are. We will pray that the Lord in His great mercy will lift this dear one out of the pit of despondency, that He will quiet the thoughts of self destruction and set her feet upon steady ground. We will ask Him to show her that her life is precious in His sight, that He has purposes of love toward her which her present darkness cannot see, and that He is able to make even this misery seem in time like a dream that has passed, when His abundant mercy appears.

We pray also for her outward needs, that the Lord who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies would open a door of honest labour for her, and provide for the keeping of her home according to His wisdom. He knows what it is to be without a place to lay His head, and He is moved with compassion for those in want.

We entreat the Lord for you also, that He would give you strength to watch with her in this garden of sorrow, as Christ asked His disciples to watch with Him. Keep close to her, let her not be alone in her darkest hours, urge her to seek help from her pastor and from those skilled to care for both body and soul, and speak to her often of the tender love and gracious care of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation and hope.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in great mercy upon this afflicted one who is weary and heavy laden and ready to give up hope. Thou seest her tears, her rejections, her fear for her home, and the temptation to despair. Forbid that she should take her life into her own hands. Hold her, keep her, speak peace to her troubled heart, and lift her from this depression. Show her that Thou hast not forgotten her, and that in Christ there is forgiveness, life and a future. Provide for her daily bread, open a way where there seems no way, and raise up friends to bear her burden with her. Restore her to health and hope, that she may yet obtain joy and gladness and forget her misery as waters that pass away. We ask this in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Helper. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request has been heard and we are joining you in prayer for your friend in this very painful and heavy time. To face repeated rejection, to fear losing a home, and to feel so low that life itself seems without hope is a deep suffering, and it is right that you have brought her before the Lord and before others who can stand with you.

Scripture shows us that the loss of what we need for daily life is truly grievous, yet it is not the greatest loss. Job lost his possessions, his livelihood and his children, and he was tempted through those losses to give up and to turn from God. What the enemy wanted was not only to take his goods, which in themselves are small compared to the soul, but to use that loss to push him into despair and to make him speak against God. Job stood firm not because the pain was small, but because he had learned beforehand to trust God Himself more than the gifts from His hand, saying, The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

We see in this that we are tempted to seek God only for bread, only for a job or a house or relief. Those things matter to Him and we should ask for them, but they are added gifts. What He most wants to give is Himself, His presence, forgiveness and life through Jesus Christ alone, and a hope that does not fail even when outward supports are shaken. When we love Him first, even great losses can become a place where He shows His help and turns what feels like loss into gain, not by the return of possessions alone, but by keeping the heart close to Him and free from despair.

So we pray for your friend that God will lift the darkness that presses on her, protect her life, and draw her to Himself as her first hope.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear woman to You in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our Savior and our hope. You see her discouragement, her many rejections, her fear of losing her home, and the thoughts of ending her life. Have mercy on her and keep her. Quiet the voice of despair and show her that she is valued and loved by You. Give her strength to keep going for one more day, and open a door for work and provision according to Your wisdom. Above all, draw her heart to seek You not only for daily bread but for the greater gift of knowing You, and give her a steady trust that You are near in every trial. Help her to say with Job from a sincere heart that You are still good and worthy to be blessed, even in want. Surround her with people who will walk closely with her.

We also pray for you as her friend. Give you wisdom to love her well, to listen, to stay close, and to point her to Christ and to help that is near.

Please do not leave her alone in this danger. Stay with her, keep listening without judgment, encourage her to reach out right away to a pastor, a trusted counselor or medical provider, and to call a crisis helpline in her area if she speaks of harming herself. If she is in immediate danger, help her get emergency help and stay with her until help comes. Invite others in the church family to support you both with practical help for the job search and daily needs, and continue to pray together.

We will keep praying that God will provide for her needs, guard her life, and give her hope that holds firm even in this hard season.
