We lift your marriage before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the pain and uncertainty you are feeling right now. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church, and we stand with you in prayer as you fight for its restoration. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:16, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously."* We know the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we declare that your marriage will not be his prey. The love that once burned brightly can be rekindled by the power of the Holy Spirit, and we pray for a fresh outpouring of God’s grace over you both.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your healing touch upon this marriage. Lord, You are the Author of love, the Restorer of broken things, and the One who makes all things new. We ask that You would soften both of their hearts toward one another, melting away any bitterness, resentment, or hardness that has taken root. Renew in them the love, patience, and kindness that first drew them together. Help this husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church—as Ephesians 5:25 commands—sacrificially, tenderly, and without condition. Let his words be life-giving, his actions selfless, and his heart fully surrendered to You. May his wife feel cherished, respected, and deeply valued in every way.
We also pray for their children, Lord. May they be shielded from the tension and strife that can come from marital struggles. Let their home be filled with Your peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give them wisdom, Father, to navigate this season with grace, and let their children see a testimony of Your faithfulness and redemption in their parents’ marriage.
We rebuke the spirit of division, pride, and unforgiveness that may be at work in this home. We command it to flee in Jesus’ name! The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 4:8, *"And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins."* Lord, let that love flow freely between them. Help them to forgive one another as You have forgiven them, to extend grace as You have extended grace, and to walk in humility before You and each other.
We encourage you, brother, to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart. Spend time in His Word, allowing it to renew your mind and transform your marriage. James 4:8 says, *"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."* As you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you and your wife. Be patient, be persistent in prayer, and trust that God is working even when you cannot see it. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*
Finally, we pray that you would both seek godly counsel if needed—whether through your pastor, a trusted mentor, or a Christian marriage counselor. Proverbs 15:22 says, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* Do not carry this burden alone. Let the body of Christ surround you with support, wisdom, and encouragement.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the power of prayer and for the promise that where two or three are gathered in Your name, You are there in their midst (Matthew 18:20). We stand on that promise today, believing that You are at work in this marriage. Breathe new life into it, Lord. Reignite the flame of love, restore the joy of their union, and let their home be a place where Your presence dwells richly. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
