Beloved of All
I just need prayer for my marriage to help keep the devil out. Latetly it has been argument for nonse and my mother in law makes it worse she is very ungratful we treated her with respect she always finds way to bring me down or make me feel bad. All I do is love my husband and treat him with respect and dignity. I just want God to be in my marriage to help me any bible chapter I should read that can help me with my marriage is going to be 6 years

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your marriage before the throne of grace. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). The strife and discord you’re experiencing are not from God, who desires peace, unity, and love in your home. We rebuke the spirit of division and contention in the name of Jesus, and we declare that your marriage is covered by the blood of Christ. No weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Your mother-in-law’s ungratefulness and hurtful words are not a reflection of your worth or your love for your husband. Proverbs 15:1 reminds us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." We pray that God would soften her heart and give you wisdom in how to respond, not with bitterness, but with grace. Remember, you are not responsible for her actions, only your own. Keep your eyes fixed on Christ, who is your strength and your shield (Psalm 28:7).

For your marriage, we encourage you to saturate your heart in God’s Word. Here are a few chapters and passages to meditate on:
- Ephesians 5, This chapter outlines the beautiful design of marriage, calling husbands and wives to love and respect one another as unto the Lord. Verse 21 says, "Subject yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ." This mutual submission is the foundation of a godly marriage.
- 1 Corinthians 13, The "love chapter" is a powerful reminder of what love truly looks like. Even when circumstances are difficult, love is patient, kind, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Ask God to help you love your husband, and even your mother-in-law, with this kind of love.
- Colossians 3:12-17, This passage calls us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. It also reminds us to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts and to let His Word dwell in us richly.
- 1 Peter 3:1-7, This is a beautiful passage for wives, encouraging you to win over your husband (and others) with a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. It also calls husbands to honor their wives, but even if that is not yet fully realized, your obedience to God’s Word will not return void.

We also want to gently remind you that your marriage is a covenant before God, and He takes it seriously. If there are any areas where you or your husband may be falling short, whether in communication, forgiveness, or prioritizing your relationship, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal them. Confess any bitterness, anger, or resentment, and choose to forgive, just as Christ has forgiven you (Colossians 3:13). Forgiveness does not mean what was done was okay, but it releases you from the bondage of unforgiveness and allows God to work.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of compassion for our sister and her marriage. Lord, we ask that You would surround her and her husband with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to sow discord, and we declare that Your love and unity will prevail in their home. Father, give her wisdom in how to respond to her mother-in-law with grace and strength. Help her to see herself as You see her, beloved, chosen, and precious in Your sight.

Lord, we ask that You would heal any wounds in their marriage and restore what has been broken. Help them to communicate with kindness and patience, and to prioritize their relationship with You and with one another. We pray that they would seek You together, that Your Word would dwell richly in their hearts, and that they would grow in love and respect for one another. Father, we ask that You would soften the heart of her mother-in-law and help her to see the love and respect that have been shown to her.

We declare that this marriage will not only survive but thrive, for You are the God who restores and redeems. May their home be a place of peace, joy, and love, a testimony to Your goodness and faithfulness. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who holds all things together. Amen.

Sister, do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The enemy wants you to feel defeated, but God is greater. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is working even in the midst of the challenges. Lean on Him, and He will sustain you. If you ever need to talk or pray with someone, we are here for you. You are not alone.

We’re so sorry for the weight you’re carrying right now. It’s exhausting when home, which should feel like a refuge, becomes a battleground of arguments. And it cuts especially deep when someone you’ve treated with respect, your mother-in-law, keeps finding ways to tear you down. That kind of steady, ungrateful criticism can make you feel alone, even when you’re doing everything you know to love your husband well.

One thing that might help is recognizing that while God calls us to forgive from the heart, forgiveness and full reconciliation aren’t always the same thing at the same time. You can guard your heart against bitterness toward your mother-in-law while also recognizing that a healthy relationship requires her participation, not just yours. It’s not unloving to quietly set some internal boundaries, deciding, for instance, that you’ll be polite and kind when you interact, but you won’t keep handing her the power to define how you feel about yourself or your marriage. Your husband may not be able to control his mother, but the two of you can still build a united front. Even a calm, private conversation with him, focused on “how can we protect us” rather than “your mother is awful”, can slowly strengthen the wall the enemy is trying to break down.

Also, if the arguments feel like they come out of nowhere and escalate fast, some couples find it helpful to agree on a simple pause signal: when one of you recognizes things are spinning, you can gently say, “Can we take twenty minutes and come back to this when we’re both calmer?” That isn’t avoidance; it’s wisdom that keeps minor sparks from becoming destructive fires.

Let’s pray with you now:

Lord Jesus, we ask You to stand guard over this marriage. When harsh words circle and old resentments press in, be a wall of peace around this wife and husband. Give her steady patience and a quiet confidence that You see her faithfulness. Silence the voice of the enemy that whispers division and discouragement, and help her husband see her with fresh eyes of appreciation and loyalty. Grant them even small moments of laughter and connection in these hard days, and give her wisdom for every interaction with her mother-in-law, grace without self-abandonment. We trust You to be the third strand in their cord. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The trial you endure is not without purpose. When the enemy stirs strife in a home, it is because he hates every picture of Christ and His Church. But the Lord is able to keep that which you have committed unto Him. You ask for a chapter, take then Ephesians 5, where the great mystery is unfolded. There you will see that a wife’s respect and a husband’s love are not mere counsels but commands flowing from the Gospel itself. And when your spirit is worn by unkind words from one who should be a helper, read also 1 Peter 3 and let the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit be your adorning. You cannot control the tongue of another, but the Spirit can make your own heart a well of patience. Remember that the Lord Jesus, when He was reviled, reviled not again, but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously.

As for the strife, these endless arguments are sparks from the fire of self. The law of kindness should be written on the heart, and when it is not, we must plead with God to write it there by His own finger. He alone can remove the power of sin as surely as its guilt. Do not look to your own strength to silence the devil; he is silenced only by the blood of the Lamb and the word of your testimony. So bring this dear husband before the Throne of Grace daily. Ask the Lord to make him willing in the day of His power, and beg for a fresh baptism of love upon your own soul. The love that cements a true marriage is not a shallow sentiment; it is a deep, mutual delight that flows from God’s own heart. If you would rejoice in God, even when the fig tree does not blossom, you will find strength to endure these domestic griefs.

And concerning the unkindness of a mother-in-law, let me entreat you to trace that burden back to God, for all things come from His hand. When an ungrateful spirit wounds you, kiss the hand that permits the smiting. This is no easy thing, but the grace of God is sufficient. It may be that the Lord will use this very trial to conform you to the image of Christ, who bore the contradiction of sinners against Himself. Pray not only for deliverance but for a heart that overcomes evil with good. The past mercies of your six years together are pledges of more to come, for He is an unchanging God. Cast this care entirely upon Him, for He cares for you. He will either quiet the storm or quiet your heart within it. In that peace, the devil finds no foothold, and the home becomes a sanctuary once more.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your first battlefield is not the strife with your husband or your mother in law. The tongue is a royal steed: if you put a bridle on it, the King rests upon it, but if you let it rush unbridled, it becomes a beast for the devil to ride. You come fresh from the company of your own wife, and you dare not pray let that tenderness, that undefiled bed, be your teacher. How then do you lift up hands fresh from reviling and insult? That is truly the devil's bed, to wallow in insults. Wrath dallies with us like a wicked adulterer, casting deadly seed and making us give birth to diabolical enmity. Marriage causes the two to become one flesh; wrath severs into many parts those who were united, and cuts in pieces the very soul.

When her ingratitude stings and she finds ways to bring you down, see the devil's stratagem clearly. He saw a great and populous city lay hold of the truth, and what did he do? He divided the men, for even the strongest kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. The enemy seeks to divide you from your husband and your husband from his own mother, not only severing the marriage bond but cutting the soul itself. Do not let him ride.

Honor thy father and thy mother that is a holy command, and you have done well to treat her with respect. But Christ himself rebuked those who, under the garb of piety, taught children to despise their parents through bitter traditions. You need not accept every word she speaks as a verdict; you need only refuse to let wrath ride your tongue in return. Watch your tongue more than the apple of your eye. If you bridle it when the sharp reply rises up, you will see the devil's design collapse.

For Scripture, take up the fifth chapter of the Letter to the Ephesians, and read it slowly with your husband if he is willing. There the blessed Paul shows that marriage is a great mystery concerning Christ and the Church. Let the husband love his wife as Christ loved the Church, and let the wife reverence her husband. When you both fix your eyes there, no mother in law, no argument, can sever what God has joined. The grace of God which is given you is sufficient; you need only continual cleaving to the word, and an earnest affection for the Apostle's teaching, and you will need no other aid. I will pray that you both hold fast, that the undefiled bed remains honored, and that the peace of God which passes understanding keeps your hearts.

Your marriage is a sacred union, established by God from the very beginning with a purpose and design that still holds true. The conflicts you are facing, arguments that seem to arise from nothing, the hurt caused by your mother-in-law, are not part of that original design. Jesus pointed back to creation, reminding us that marriage was intended to be a lifelong joining of two into one, a place of completion and peace, not a place of constant turmoil or competition. God’s heart for your marriage is that it reflect that unity, and His divine ideal remains your anchor when everyday life falls short.

When you say, “All I do is love my husband and treat him with respect and dignity,” I hear a sincere effort to do what is right. But perhaps you are also learning what many discover in Scripture: that striving to meet a standard, whether it is earning a mother-in-law’s gratitude or being the perfect wife, can leave you exhausted and accused. God’s law, or any set of expectations we try to live up to, shows us where we come short, but it cannot give us the power to change our hearts or another person’s heart. It only brings frustration if we treat it like a checklist. Instead, the Spirit of God invites you to a different way, where you serve not out of obligation but out of a renewed heart that delights in God’s goodness, even when others treat you unfairly.

The real battle you sense, the devil you want kept out, is a spiritual one. The enemy stirs up division and magnifies every slight, but the weapons God gives are not physical arguments or defensive strategies. They are spiritual: the truth of His Word living in your thoughts and consistent prayer that brings His peace into the chaos. When you pray, you are not merely asking for circumstances to change; you are joining God in His purpose to heal and guard your home. That is a powerful defense against the attacks that seek to wear you down.

If you are looking for Scripture to steady your heart, I would encourage you to read Psalm 1 slowly, letting its picture of a tree planted by streams of water sink in, that person who meditates on God’s instruction day and night becomes fruitful and unwithered. Then move into Romans 7 and 8, where you will see the honest struggle between what we want to do and what actually happens, and the glorious truth that there is now no condemnation because the Spirit of life sets us free. Finally, sit with Ephesians 5:25-33, not as a list of duties, but as a revelation of how Christ loves the church, with a self-giving, purifying love. That is the atmosphere God wants to breathe into your marriage.

Do not give up. The same God who made provision in the law for the day a leper was cleansed, even when there was no human cure, can make a way where you see only friction. Leave room for Him to work beyond what you think is possible. You are loved, and your marriage can still bear the fruit He intended. You have my prayers.
