Disciple of Prayer
My ### had to have back surgery today and went well but went into irregular heart rhythm as complication. Please pray he gets out of pain and gets his heart in regular rhythm fast and feeling better. Please pray for my ###. He’s such a great ### and person and needs some good news and relief. Please help him.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your father in prayer. We know the fear and anxiety that can grip us when a loved one faces health complications, especially after surgery. But we also know that our God is the Great Physician, the One who knits us together in our mother’s womb and numbers every hair on our heads (Psalm 139:13-14). He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We trust in His power to heal and restore, for nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 32:27).

Father God, we ask You to touch ’s body with Your healing hand. We pray against this irregular heart rhythm, that You would steady his heartbeat and bring it back into perfect rhythm according to Your design. Ease his pain, Lord, and grant him relief from discomfort. We know that You are the God who heals (Exodus 15:26), and we stand on Your promise that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Strengthen his body, renew his strength, and let him feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We also lift up ’s spirit, Lord. Surgery and complications can leave a person feeling weak, discouraged, or even fearful. Remind him of Your presence, that You are with him in this trial (Isaiah 41:10). Fill him with hope and assurance that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Let him feel the love and support of those around him, and most of all, let him feel Your love, which never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Lord, we ask that You would grant wisdom to the medical team caring for him. Guide their hands, their decisions, and their treatments. May they be instruments of Your healing in his life. We also pray for his family, especially , who is carrying this burden with love and concern. Give them peace, patience, and trust in You as they wait and pray.

We rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that would seek to take hold of this situation. We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and we choose to trust in You, Lord. We speak life and healing over ’s body, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name (Philippians 2:9-10). It is by His name and through His blood that we have access to You, Father, and it is in His name that we pray.

We pray all these things with faith, believing that You hear us and that You are already at work. Thank You for being a God who cares deeply for us, who collects our tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8), and who promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We trust You, Lord, and we wait expectantly for Your healing touch. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for telling us about your dad. We can tell how much you love him, and how heavy this feels, watching someone you admire so much walk through both surgery and an unexpected setback. It’s good to hear the surgery itself went well, and we are praying with you now that this heart rhythm issue resolves quickly.

It is not unusual for a body to react strongly after a major operation. Your dad is being monitored closely, which is exactly where he needs to be. While you wait, one steady thing you can do is simply be present, a calm voice, a familiar hand, a reminder that he is not alone. Sometimes that steady, quiet nearness becomes its own kind of medicine.

We are asking God to bring his heart back into a stable rhythm, to ease the surgical pain, and to give your dad a real sense of relief. We ask, too, for your mom, that she would feel upheld and have peaceful rest. And for you, the strength to keep showing up, trusting that God is near even in the waiting hours.

Lord Jesus, we bring this good father to You. Thank You for the skill and care he is receiving. We ask You now to settle his heart and restore a steady beat, to quiet the pain in his body, and to fill him with courage. Surround this whole family with Your peace that goes deeper than the circumstances. We trust Your love for them and pray in Your healing name. Amen.

The surgery is past, and we bless the Lord that it went well, yet now a new affliction besets your father’s heart. The irregular rhythm is a reminder that our bodies are frail things, you may crush in a moment, but you cannot so speedily cure. Restoration is often a long process, and the weakened frame only recovers strength by slow degrees. Do not wonder if recovery tarries; look to each small return of strength as the Lord’s own work, giving Him a fresh claim on your affection. Pain is no stranger to the child of God, yet I tell you, pain is as sure a proof of life as pleasure. Your anxiety for the one who has been such a great father to you is no sign of a graceless heart, it is the stirring of a love that longs to see him walk in comfort again, like a citizen upon the bulwarks, defying the foe. Therefore, because Jesus lives, be quiet and in patience possess your soul. The very name of Jesus makes the devil, sickness, and despair tremble and yield.

I think also of your mother, heavy-laden and in need of good news. Bid her not turn back in this day of battle, for when we turn back we only retreat to darker places where the pain is more terrible. Instead, whisper a word of bringing the King back into this trial. Why speak you not a word of bringing the King back? If you bring King Jesus back into your home by renewed faith and prayer, He will be made unto you wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. He gave you Jesus, what can He keep back from you? He who bore our sickness and bared His back to the smiters will not withhold the relief that your father and mother need. Acknowledge in every small mercy that the Lord has not forgotten. And as for you who plead for them, remember: the proof of faith lies in perseverance. Do not go back from your confidence, for by Divine Grace a desire for something better has been planted in your soul, a full restoration, a heart in perfect rhythm, a household praising God. You cannot go back to mere earthly hopes when Christ has so much more to give. Come back, then, from all your fears, and because Jesus lives, let your father rest in the hands that were pierced for him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The pain your father endures, and the fear gripping your own heart, are not hidden from the Lord. We speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen, and the testimony of His care is this: He is not a distant hearer of reports but knows with an intimate and exact knowledge every fiber of your father's body and every anxious beat of your own soul. Turn, then, not to despair but to the Physician.

Our Lord permitted His own body to be pierced and His heart to know the utmost anguish, not for His own need, but to become a merciful and faithful High Priest for our infirmities. Your father’s heart labors now, and your spirit is heavy with watching. Yet this is the moment to see the Church for what it is: the house of our Father, where one body shares one Spirit. In bringing this need before the whole body of Christ, you are doing a holy work.

Let us pray then, not with words alone, but with a confidence that braces the soul. For a master’s threat of punishment is meant to pierce the heart and lead to reformation, but the threat of pain and illness, when brought to God, becomes the very cure itself, driving out the fever of self-reliance and making us cling to Him alone.

Therefore, let us all who are one body in this place join with you. We ask the Lord who knows our frame, the Father of mercies, to command his heart to resume a steady rhythm, a calm and obedient service to the body. We ask Him to loose the cords of pain from the place of the surgery and fill that frame with relief and restorative ease. And for you, His child, we ask that the Comforter would steady your mind. For what greater recompense could there be now than to feel that sustaining hand, and to hear, even in the silence, the voice that will one day crown all who have endured? We do not ask these things seeking a sign of vainglory, but because He has willed that we should be held together, children to fathers, bound by a great love, and He will not despise the cry born from that holy bond. He will bring good news and relief.
