Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have received your prayer request and we join with you in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ with love and thanksgiving for your desire for marriage as God ordained it.
We thank God that you are seeking what is honorable. Marriage is a bond ordained by God and Scripture calls it honorable and pure. It is not holiness itself but it preserves the holiness that comes through faith in Christ, by keeping us from what would defile that holiness and by calling us to live in chasteness, faithfulness and orderliness. The profit of marriage is in part to preserve the body pure and to walk together in love and reverence before the Lord. We pray that you will be kept in that holiness while you wait, living chastely and in a way that is worthy of the gift you have received in Christ, and that you will guard what God has given you until He brings to pass what is best.
We pray for you, that our Lord who knows your heart and your longing will in His perfect wisdom and timing bring you to meet the woman He wills for you to love and to marry, a woman of faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, who shares that same faith and desire for a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as God has designed. We ask that He will make it possible in practical ways for you to meet and to get to know one another in a manner that is pure, patient and full of gravity and respect, with the presence and counsel of faithful brothers and sisters around you.
We pray that He will send one who has genuine interest in knowing you, who will show steadfast love and not quickly turn away, but who will persevere with you in kindness and truth until by God's grace you belong to one another in marriage. We ask for miracles in your life, not only in this meeting but in your daily walk, that God will open doors that no man can open, provide opportunities, wisdom and provision, and keep you from discouragement.
We encourage you to continue in prayer, in the Word, and in the fellowship of the church, living faithfully where God has placed you, trusting that He who provided for Isaac and who cares for every detail of our lives will guide your steps. May the Lord keep you in peace and holiness with all people, and may He establish your heart in hope as you wait on Him.
We are praying for you. May God bless you and keep you and lead you according to His good will in Christ Jesus.
