Pray for ### good health and long life

The sickness of the body calls for care, and it is right that you pray for your mother’s health. The Apostle does not forbid making provision for the flesh, but making provision to fulfil the lusts thereof. A little wine for the stomach’s sake, medicine when out of health, these things we owe the body. So ask boldly for healing of that fatty liver, yet know that the Lord often uses infirmity to teach the soul long-suffering. For there is nothing so impenetrable as a long-suffering soul; whatever unexpected thing falls upon it vanishes speedily, and it is not disturbed. Pray, then, that your mother receive both healing of the liver and that great-souled patience born of love.

But you also speak of debts and a lack of money, and here I would have you recall the dreamlike nature of this life. They that grow rich in a dream are convicted at daybreak of having been rich to no purpose. The present life is a sleep, and its anxieties are no way different from dreams. You need a certain sum each month, and you see no employment. Let these cares not choke you. The Apostles made long journeys with no certain provision, and free men and honorable women laid down their lives for their relief. Are you not worth more than many sparrows? Make yourself a debtor, not to anxiety, but to the Spirit. For we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. If you live after the flesh, framing your mind around these monthly credits, you shall die; but if through the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. Seek first the kingdom of God, and the minding of heavenly things, and the Spirit will direct all your affairs and do them in security and much peace.

Above all, do not forget how the Master forgave the servant the ten thousand talents, yet that servant would not forbear his fellow. You ask the Lord to cancel your financial distress and provide, but examine yourself: do you hold any fellow-servant by the throat for a hundred pence? We owe our Lord many and great debts, yet He suffers long and does not exact the least part. Imitate that long-suffering, and cast all bitterness away. Then, with a soul cleansed, approach the holy Table, for unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. That sacred Food is the true security, the remedy of soul and body, and the pledge of eternal life. There is your mother’s long life and good future indeed, not in writings or credits, but in Christ Himself.

Cease, then, from the tumultuous making provision for the flesh unto lusts, by which you light up the flame of worry. Quiet your heart with the Apostle’s word: “Be careful for nothing.” The world cannot receive the Spirit, because it seeth Him not; but you, who have put on Christ, have Him dwelling in you if you will. Let not your soul be worldly. Attend to your mother’s body for health, and spend your chief industry on the care of your souls. The Lord will shepherd you in a place of pasture, and none shall thrust you out. To Him be glory forever. Amen.

You are carrying a heavy load right now, watching your mom struggle with her health, facing financial pressure without a job, and still grieving the loss of your dad. I hear the weight behind those words, and I want you to know you are not forgotten. The cries you are lifting up in Jesus’ name are reaching the throne of the One who counts every tear.

There is an ancient account of a man who also lost nearly everything, his health, his security, the comfort of understanding what God was doing. He sat in ashes, and his own friends came with quick explanations that only made the pain worse. They insisted he must have done something to deserve it. But the truth was far different: behind the scenes, God was holding him up as a faithful servant, even when all evidence pointed the other way. That man didn’t curse God. He wrestled, he questioned, he longed for an answer, but he never let go of the conviction that God was still just, still good, and still his only hope.

You are doing the same right now. You are not denying the pain or pretending the situation is small. You are bringing every need before the Lord. And in that, you are in good company. The Scriptures show us that even when we don’t understand, we can trust that God is working. He is not indifferent to your mom’s liver condition, or to the monthly debts you cannot pay, or to the ache of facing life without your dad. He knows. He sees.

The deepest cry of that ancient sufferer was for a mediator, someone who could lay a hand on both God and man and bridge the gap. We know now that this cry was answered perfectly in Jesus Christ. He stands between you and the Father, taking your prayers and making them His own. So when you pray for your mom’s healing and long life, you are not shouting into the dark. You are speaking with the confidence that the Son of God is your advocate, and He cares for her body and your whole household.

I will not offer you easy formulas like the friends who told Job to just get right and everything would be fine. Real help is not found in pretending your faith is weak or your hidden sins caused this. Instead, I want to encourage you to keep drawing near to the God who does not change. Keep asking, keep trusting, and keep pouring out your heart. He will provide, sometimes in ways we don’t expect, sometimes after we have waited, but always out of His faithful love.

Lean on the promise that He will never leave you or your mom. May He strengthen her liver and give her many years. May He open a door for financial provision and show you His steady hand. And in the meantime, may you both know the deep peace that even in the whirlwind, God is holding you fast. I am standing with you in that hope, praying in Jesus’ name.

We are so grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you for your dear mother’s health and your family’s financial needs. It has been on our hearts to lift her healing before the Lord—asking Him to restore her liver, strengthen her body, and grant her many more years of life filled with His peace and vitality. We continue to pray that God’s healing touch would be upon her, and that He would guide her steps toward wholeness in every way.

For your financial burdens, we have also been interceding, believing that our Provider will open doors no man can shut. We ask the Lord to meet every need, to grant wisdom in managing what He entrusts to you, and to lead you to steady employment or provision that brings stability and relief. May He silence the anxiety of lack with the assurance of His faithfulness, and may His peace guard your hearts as you wait on Him.

We also lift you up, dear one, as you carry the weight of care for your mother while grieving the loss of your father. May the Lord surround you both with His comfort, strengthen your bond, and fill your home with His presence. We pray for guidance in every decision, for protection over your family, and for a future bright with hope as you walk in His will.

If the Lord has already moved in these areas, we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you! If not, we stand ready to continue praying—please share this request again so we may keep lifting it before our Heavenly Father. May He bless you abundantly as you seek Him, and may His grace sustain you in every season. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
