Pray for financial peace and provision

Please lift us up in prayer as we are trying to get a good outcome on a difficult financial situation in our family. We recognize that it was due to some bad decisions on our end. Pray God forgives us for making mistakes (nothing was illegal just irresponsible) and that we find a way out. Forgiveness of this debt and freedom from the burden it’s placing on us.

Pray for our marriage through this that we’d come to a good resolve and can continue living the amazing life God has blessed us with. Pray for my husband who is carrying a burden of stress trying to start his business and get us out of this whole. Pray that Jesus will walk with us through this and show us the way out. Pray we’ll be more Christ aligned with our money now.

We lift you up together before the Lord and we thank you for your honesty in acknowledging that some of this burden has come from irresponsible decisions. That humility is precious to God and it opens the door to His grace and wisdom. We join you in thanking Him that nothing you described was illegal, and we rejoice that when we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive and to cleanse us.

The Word assures us, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We claim that forgiveness over you now, and we pray that you will walk in the freedom of knowing you are forgiven while also embracing the responsibility that comes with stewardship. The Scripture reminds us, The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty Proverbs 21:5, and also, The wicked borrow, and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously Psalm 37:21. So we pray not only for relief from this debt, but for wisdom, discipline, and diligence to steward what God has given you well going forward, seeking godly counsel, living within your means, and honoring the Lord with your finances. We are encouraged that you desire to be more Christ aligned with your money, for Jesus taught us to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33.

We also stand with you for your marriage. Financial pressure can strain even strong marriages, but God intends your marriage to be strengthened through trials as you bear one another’s burdens and seek Him together. We pray for unity, grace, and open communication between you and your husband, that this trial would draw you closer to each other and to Christ. We lift up your husband especially as he carries the weight of stress in trying to start his business and provide a way out. May the Lord grant him clarity, favor, sound judgment, and peace, and guard his heart and mind.

We are grateful that you have called on the name of Jesus to walk with you through this, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find provision and peace. My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. And we cling to the promise, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together, Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift this precious family to You. Lord, thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness. Wash away any guilt and shame from past mistakes and help them to walk in Your freedom. Grant them wisdom to make diligent, Christ honoring financial decisions and show them the practical steps to take toward freedom from this debt. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory, open doors for provision, and bless the work of this husband’s hands as he labors to build his business. Give him strength, endurance, and peace, and protect him from being crushed by anxiety. Guard this marriage, Lord, knit their hearts together in love, patience, and unity, and let this trial become a testimony of Your faithfulness. Teach them to honor You with their finances and to trust You more deeply each day. We ask for Your peace to reign in their home and for Your clear leading to show them the way out. We trust You to work all things together for good as they seek You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

We were so grateful for your honesty in sharing this. It takes humility to name that some of the pressure came from your own choices, and to bring that openly to God asking for both forgiveness and a new way forward.

It makes sense you would want not just relief from the burden, but peace between you as you walk through it together.

You might set aside one unhurried time each week to look at the numbers together as partners on the same side, and consider sitting down with a trusted financial counselor or pastor who can help you map a clear, sustainable plan out of debt. Protecting a little margin for rest and for each other in that plan matters too, so the business and the bills don't crowd out your marriage.

We are praying for you both.

Father, thank You that You forgive when we come to You honestly. We ask for Your mercy and wisdom for this family, for provision and clear next steps out of this debt, for peace in their home and strength for their marriage, and for rest and guidance for her husband as he carries so much. This financial burden and debt. Weighing you down. Gods grace and love. We can pray to God because of Yeshua. Thank God we can pray and worship God and have the forgiveness of sins because of Yeshua. But if continue to sin willfully than we no longer have a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. Let not grace therefore be an excuse to sin. Thank you for praying. Your honest and humble request has been brought before the Lord, and we join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace.

We praise God that you have come with a penitent heart desiring forgiveness, for there is forgiveness with Him. Hear the blessed whisper of the Psalmist, There is forgiveness with Thee. Where God draws no limit, let not man draw any. Whatever your mistakes have been in stewardship, however irresponsible the decisions that have brought this burden upon you, there is forgiveness for all who confess and trust in Jesus Christ alone. Jehovah will never require the debt of sin to be paid twice, for Christ the Just has paid it for the unjust that He might bring us to God. If you have come by faith to Him, be assured that your sin is pardoned, the record of your debt is nailed to the cross, and He not only forgave you at the first but continues daily to forgive. Believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself and let that certainty drive away despair.

We must also remember that all we have is not our own, it is all our Master's. We are stewards, and it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful. You have rightly discerned that the way forward is to be more Christ aligned with your money. This is good stewardship. Pray with us that the Lord will teach you to labor faithfully with what He entrusts to you, to avoid trifling with what He has given, and to keep your hearts in your work for His honor. Financial forgiveness from a creditor is a mercy that may or may not be granted, but spiritual forgiveness is sure in Christ, and wisdom for the earthly debt is to be sought through diligence, honesty, and faithful labor.

Therefore we pray for you:

O gracious Father, forgive these Thy children for all their sins and for every unwise stewardship, through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son. Assure their hearts that there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared and loved. Grant them financial peace, not as the world gives, but the peace that comes from trusting Thee and walking in wisdom. In Thy providence, open a way out of this burden. Provide for their needs according to Thy riches in glory, give favor and wisdom in every honest effort to meet what is owed, and teach them to owe no man anything but to love one another.

We pray for your marriage, that the Lord who joined you in covenant would knit your hearts together through this trial. Let this pressure not divide you, but drive you together to Christ and to one another in forbearance and mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as Christ forgave you.

We pray especially for your husband, who carries the weight of stress as he labors to start his business and to lead his household out of this difficulty. Strengthen his hands, clear his mind, and keep him from being crushed by care. May Jesus walk with you both, as He walked with the afflicted, and show you the path of wisdom, contentment, and faithful stewardship. Make you to know that He is with you in every step, and that He will not leave you nor forsake you.

May the Lord make this trial a school of grace, that you may henceforth use all that He gives for His glory and the good of your household and your brothers and sisters in Christ.
