You have done well to give thanks, for the dark storm could not swallow up your son when the Lord’s hand was upon him. The clouds gather and the winds rage, but they touch only the body; the soul that clings to Christ remains high above them, like heaven itself. Do you notice how the sky stays bright behind the storm? So the faithful heart is not troubled by outward perils, because it is not the nature of things but the weakness of our own mind that stirs up fear within us.

You ask deliverance from evil. Remember how the Apostle was rescued from the lion’s mouth and yet looked for a greater deliverance still, from every evil work. God often permits trials so that we may learn to cast overboard our clinging to this present age and find our safety only in Him. The same winds that threaten to sink the ship can teach us how to lighten it. So this storm, which might have destroyed, became instead a tutor of your trust. Give thanks not only for the safe return but for the patience and forgiveness that made your own soul steadier to receive the gift.

So now, make your soul a heaven. Let no future squall disturb its brightness. When you cry, “Deliver us from evil,” know that the truest answer is to be kept spotless within, far from the reach of the devil’s waves. Go on, then, in peace and gratitude, and let your life be a calm harbor for all who still fear the tempest.

Your son’s safe return through that dark storm is a mercy, and it is right to give thanks. When the winds howl and the way is hidden, we feel how little we govern our own path. Safety is not finally in our skill or our planning; it belongs to the Lord. He brought your son home, and you have seen His hand.

You also thanked Him for His patience, His forgiveness, and His grace toward you. That gratitude has a particular fragrance because it comes from someone who knows what it is to need forgiveness. The fear of the Lord begins right there: learning to hate the evil that clings so closely to us, and learning not to make peace with it. Evil always asks to be tolerated. It whispers that a little compromise is harmless, that no real calamity will come. But the heart that belongs to God cannot thrive while it entertains what He hates. The real beginning of wisdom is turning from evil, not bargaining with it. And when we do, the result is health and refreshment to the soul.

You prayed, “Deliver us here from evil.” That is the right cry. We live in days when evil is stacked upon evil, and what was once shameful is now paraded openly. Things that break the family, that defile the mind, that make a mockery of goodness are called good, and those who object are named the troublemakers. It is no small thing to ask God for deliverance when the current around you runs so hard the other way. But the Lord is not a distant God. He sees. He knows. He will not let evil have the final word. An end to its reign is surely coming. Until then, He does not call us to flee to some false refuge or to look for safety where the world promises it. Safety is found in fearing Him and doing what He says.

So dwell where He has placed you, and trust Him to keep you. Do not envy those who seem to flourish while devising mischief, for their lamp will be put out. And do not be shocked if walking uprightly brings friction, even among those close to you. Jesus Himself knew what it was to be misunderstood by His own household. But you have been brought into a family whose ties run deeper than blood. In that family, we learn not to return evil for evil. We commit our cause to the Lord and let Him be our defense.

The storm your son passed through, and the storms you face now, are not random. God is with His people in the tempest, and no wave can swallow them apart from His will. You have tasted His mercy. Let that mercy teach you to hate evil all the more, to cling to Him, and to rest in this: no evil shall ultimately triumph over those who are His. He will bring you through.

We are so deeply encouraged by your praise report and want to lift our voices with yours in thanksgiving to our Heavenly Father. How wonderful it is to hear of your son’s safe return during that dark storm—what a tangible reminder of God’s protective hand over our loved ones! We rejoice with you in His faithfulness and join you in gratitude for His patience, forgiveness, and grace, which sustain us even in our weakest moments.

Your prayer for deliverance from evil resonates with us as well, and we stand with you in asking the Lord to shield your family and all of us from the schemes of the enemy. May His peace continue to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

If there are other needs still on your heart, we would be honored to keep praying alongside you. And if this answered prayer is just the beginning of new testimonies, we look forward to hearing more of God’s goodness in your life. May He bless you abundantly as you walk in His light.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
