Power

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Our power went off due to a bad storm a few hours ago and hasn't come back on. Please pray it will soon. It's very hot and I'm also hungry. Thank you.

We come before the Lord with hearts full of compassion for your situation, trusting in His sovereignty and provision even in the midst of discomfort. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth." Even in times of inconvenience or distress, our help is found in the Lord, who sustains us.

We also recognize that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Though the storm has taken away your power, it has not taken away the power of God’s love and care for you. We pray that He will provide comfort in this time and that the power will be restored soon according to His will.

Father in Heaven, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your mercy and grace. We pray for the restoration of power in this home, that the heat may be alleviated and that hunger may be satisfied. Lord, we know that You are aware of every need, and we trust in Your timing. Provide strength and patience while we wait, and let Your peace fill this home. We ask that You guide those working to restore power, giving them wisdom and safety as they labor. In all things, may Your name be glorified. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek ways to stay cool and hydrated, and if possible, reach out to neighbors or local resources for assistance. Remember that God is with you, and He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Let this time be an opportunity to draw closer to Him, trusting in His faithfulness.

We are with you in this, being stuck in the dark and heat, with an empty stomach on top of it, wears you down fast. It is not a small thing, and we are sorry you are in the middle of it right now.

Sometimes when the power goes out, the hardest part is the waiting, not knowing when relief will come. The stillness feels heavy, and every hour stretches longer. Right now, the most immediate need is safety and staying as cool as you can. If you have not already, try opening windows once the outside air feels cooler than inside, and avoid using candles if possible, a flashlight or phone light is safer. If the heat becomes dangerously oppressive, do not hesitate to step outside or go somewhere with power, even just to sit in an air-conditioned space for a while.

We know that being hungry adds an extra layer of misery to an already hard day. It is okay to acknowledge how draining that is. If there is anything shelf-stable you can reach for, crackers, nuts, something simple, a little food may steady you while you wait. If resources are tight, a local church or community center can sometimes help with a meal, no questions asked.

More than anything, we want you to know you are not forgotten in this. The weariness you feel matters, and the One who sees you has not left you alone in a dark room.

Please pray with us:

Lord Jesus, you know the heat and the hunger and the long wait. Bring the relief this household needs, restore power quickly, send a cool breeze, provide food for strength. Guard against discouragement and keep them safe until morning light. We trust you for small mercies and big ones, in your name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How swiftly the comforts we take for granted are stripped away, and we are left to feel our dependence upon the Giver of every good gift. The stifling heat and the ache of hunger become sharp teachers, reminding us that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. I do pray that the Lord will restore your power and send relief to your body. Yet even as you endure this brief trial, let that physical hunger bite deep to awaken a more urgent craving.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. If the want of earthly food drives you to your knees, how much more should the soul’s famine for pardon and peace hasten you to the Savior who is the Bread of Life. He knows your frame; He remembers you are dust. Cast this small burden upon Him who feeds the ravens and clothes the lilies, and trust that His power is not diminished because a storm has shaken the wires.

I am pleading with you that your soul would not be as sluggish as the stalled current in your home, but that you would seek the heavenly unction, the divine power of the Holy Spirit to make your heart glow with joy and peace in believing, even while your body is weary. The God of hope can fill you with all comfort while you wait; He can make your closet a temple of praise though the house be dark. Cry out to Him who gives power to the faint, and He will renew your strength. The moment of necessity is the moment for faith to prove her vigor.

Test Him now, and you will find Him a very present help in trouble. My prayer goes up with yours, that the light may soon break through, yet I am far more eager that the Light of His countenance be lifted upon you, and that you may feast upon His faithful love.

When the power fails and the belly growls, the soul is given a precious moment to recall its true dependence. You are hot, you are hungry, and you ask for relief. That is natural, but consider: is it not precisely in such need that God draws us to seek what alone can satisfy? The body's hunger is a shadow of a deeper craving; as it is written, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” The discomfort you feel now can be a stern teacher, if you will let it. Do not let your thoughts be fixed only on the restoration of electricity and a full meal. These are small things, and they often come in God’s time, not ours. Have you forgotten the multitude in the wilderness? The disciples saw only the lack, but the Lord saw an occasion to display His power. He could have prevented the hunger; instead, He allowed it so that they might call upon Him and witness His provision. Your momentary want is a similar call.

Endure these things with thanksgiving. I do not say this lightly. The blessed Paul boasted of his hunger, thirst, and distress, for he knew that when he was weak, then he was strong, because the power of Christ rested on him. What are a few hours without food and comfort compared to his daily labors, his stripes, his imprisonments? Yet he gloried in them. The tyrant of surfeit is far more cruel than hunger; those who are always full are sick in soul, calling for physicians constantly, while those who soberly endure want often find their health. The heat of your house is a furnace to test your mettle: will you be consumed by irritation, or refined into patience? Rob not yourself of the profit hidden in this trial.

Yes, pray that the power return, if it be God’s will. But pray first that you learn to thirst not for a cool room or a loaf of bread, but for the living water of Christ. He who endures the small inconvenience of a storm and an empty stomach without complaint soon discovers that his Comforter is near. And do not forget, while you sit in discomfort, that there are many who live every day without the shelter you still have, who beg at doors and perish from heat and cold. Let your present need open your hand to them when this passes, or at least open your heart in compassion. For what profit is it if you ask only for your own relief and remain blind to your brother’s constant hunger?

Therefore, consider this: if the Lord delays, it is not neglect but wisdom. He gives contraries by means of contraries. By a little scorching heat He cools the fever of pride. By a brief emptiness He fills the soul with longing for the heavenly banquet. Cry out to Him, but let your cry be, “Lord, grant me grace to endure this as from Your hand, and in Your time send relief, but first increase my faith.” Do not be like those who think the Christian life promises endless bodily ease. In this world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; these light afflictions are working for you a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, if you meet them not with grumbling but with trust.
