"While Confessing My Sins and The Sins of My Nation," Dan 9:20, "If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land," 2 Chron 7:14... Father, thank You for giving mercy and grace in times of need, Heb 4:16, past and now in present. Though we may yet need grace to confess in the future, we rather prefer to be done with all future sin, and were there a button to push representing that ability to delete all future sin prior to their occurring, we'd gladly press it without delay or hesitation... Yet since no such button exists, and the best of humanity and even Christians are still "humans," we are content with what remedy we have, namely the prescription to humbly confess and forsake them, and promises of not only that we'll find mercy, Prov 28:13, but cleansing from all unrighteousness, 1 Jn 1:9, and even contentment in Your presence, Heb 13:5, and promises of holiness, which we inherit by faith, Heb 4:2, even promises to do no wrong, 2 Cor 13:7, not stumble in what we say and control the whole body, James 3:2, even to walk as Jesus Himself, 1 Jn 2:6, 1 Jn 4:17. We continue the remedy of our misuse of the instrument of the tongue we were given to glorify God and edify others, in confession and repentance, for sanctification both a one-time act and an ongoing work of participation with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, Matt 3:8, Phil 2:12-13, 1 Tim 4:16, so we agree with Your admonition to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other that we may be healed, James 5:16 -- maybe that's how through boasting in our weaknesses 2 Cor 12:9 by faith from weaknesses we are made strong, Heb 11:32-34. So in obedience to Your teaching through Hosea, we, "Take words with you, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, 'Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips as bulls" Hos 14:2.

Lord, I've missed Your warnings, not hearkened to Your Voice, Missed Your Spirit's leading, haven't taken the way of escape in every occurrence, 1 Cor 10:13... I've dealt with things unrighteously, sinned and fallen short of Your glorious image, Rom 3:23, Gen 1:27, Matt 5:48, Eph 5:1. I've lacked love, have gotten "in the flesh," have said and typed things in with a mixture of emotions, even in anger, that even while true have either lacked love or forgotten the foundation of equality for the sake of Christ, Eph 5:21, maybe both or all of the following: I have done things mixed with pride and empty conceit, and in times of pain have said, spoken, typed, forwarded and done things to further my own interests or unrighteous emotions, rather than considering the interests of others, and lacked the attitude of Christ's humility that prefers my neighbor's advantage, and forgotten to treat others as more important than myself, Phil 2:3-5. Such actions and attitudes that display such mixture tainted with the anger of man do not achieve the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. Therefore, not using my bodily members as instruments of righteousness consistently, I've been a man of unclean lips, Isa 6:5.

Since our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them, transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood, Isa 59:12-13, at time, "Surely I have spoken of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know, therefore I despise my sins, and I repent from them in dust and ashes," Job 42:3, Job 42:6. Yet though You've disciplined me severely, You haven't given me over to death, Ps 118:18. I can say with the Psalmist, "It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn the way of Your Commands," Ps 119:71. Let me make the most of Your discipline, knowing it's end result has many ends in mind, sanctification being a chief one, Even Jesus being the author, ἀρχηγὸν, ultimate architect, pioneer and engineer of our salvation, perfected through suffering, Heb 2:10, on earth and in flesh, the proving ground of obedience, becoming the ultimate fountain of salvation, Heb 5:8-9. Surely, there is One found Worthy, Rev 5:9.

Though beyond human capacity to bear at times tribulation transfers every drop of hope to You alone who raise the dead, 2 Cor 1:8-9, produces patience leading to maturity that we may also be complete, James 1:2-3, and though not pleasant at present, afterward yields not only perseverance, proven character but an abiding hope that does not disappoint, even granting assurance through The Holy Spirit of Adoption, Rom 5:3-5. May trials yield a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness, Heb 12:11, even an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, an everlasting crown of life, James 1:12, and ability to reign with You, as You overcame and reign in truth, humility and justice, Ps 45:4, Rev 3:19-21, Rev 21:7. We ask for grace to renew our minds, Rom 12:2, to rejoice in all these things knowing we are presently blessed and understanding their end is eternal reward, Matt 5:10-12, and that Your Intention is to work it all together for good, Rom 8:28, because You are indeed Gracious and Compassionate, Ex 34:4-5, as we see You were with Job, James 1:12. Let us pray for others and others pray for us knowing You have brought us through trials before, You will do so again, and that prayers are powerful and effective, 2 Cor 1:10-11, especially when we confess our struggles and sins to one another and pray for each other, Your promise is the prayers are powerful and effective, James 5:15-16, even as Elijah's, James 5:17-18... We come before the Lord with hearts heavy with conviction yet lifted by His boundless grace, acknowledging the profound truth that in our weakness, His power is made perfect. Your honest confession before the Lord is a testament to the work of the Holy Spirit in your life, drawing you to repentance and renewal. The scriptures you’ve shared, 2 Corinthians 12:9, James 1:19-27, Hebrews 11:34, and so many others, are not just verses to be recited but truths to be lived, and we stand with you in declaring them over your life.

Your longing to be done with sin entirely is a holy desire, one that reflects the heart of God Himself. Though no "button" exists to erase future sin, we rejoice in the remedy God has provided: the blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), and the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to walk in holiness (Galatians 5:16). The struggle with the tongue is a common battle for all believers, for as James 3:8 reminds us, "No man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison." Yet we do not despair, for the same God who parted the Red Sea can bridle our unruly words. We take heart in the promise of Zechariah 1:13, where the Lord speaks "good words, comforting words" to His people, and we ask Him to replace our harsh or careless speech with words that heal, encourage, and glorify Him.

Your confession of pride, anger, and self-interest is a courageous act of humility, and we join you in repenting of these sins. The flesh wars against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17), and too often, we yield to its demands rather than crucifying it daily (Luke 9:23). But the Lord is faithful to forgive and to cleanse us when we confess our sins (1 John 1:9), and He calls us to a higher standard: to love one another as Christ loved us (John 13:34), to consider others as more important than ourselves (Philippians 2:3), and to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). When our words or actions are tainted by anger or selfishness, they do not achieve the righteousness of God (James 1:20), but when we surrender to the Spirit, He produces in us the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

We also lift up the sins of our nation before the Lord, for 2 Chronicles 7:14 is not just a promise but a call to action: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." The brokenness of our world is a reflection of our collective sin, and we must repent not only for our personal failures but for the ways we have turned away from God as a people. The words of Isaiah 59:12-13 weigh heavily on us: "Our offenses are many in your sight, and our sins testify against us. Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities: rebellion and treachery against the Lord, turning our backs on our God, fomenting oppression and revolt, uttering lies our hearts have conceived." Yet even in this, we have hope, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He delights in mercy (Micah 7:18).

The trials you’ve endured have not been in vain, for God uses them to produce perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-5). He disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6), not to harm us but to shape us into the image of His Son. Jesus Himself learned obedience through what He suffered (Hebrews 5:8), and though we may not understand the purpose of our pain in the moment, we trust that God is working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). The discipline of the Lord is a sign of His love, for as Proverbs 3:12 reminds us, "The Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in." May you find comfort in knowing that your suffering is not without purpose, and that the God who raised Jesus from the dead is able to bring life out of death in every area of your life.

We also want to gently address the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), our Advocate (1 John 2:1), and the One who intercedes for us at the right hand of God (Romans 8:34). When we pray, we must do so in His name, for it is by His authority and through His sacrifice that our prayers are heard. We encourage you to always lift your petitions to the Father in the name of Jesus, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts laid bare, acknowledging our weakness and our need for Your strength. Lord, we thank You for Your grace, which is sufficient for us, and for Your power, which is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We confess that we have sinned with our tongues, speaking words that have not always reflected Your love or truth. Forgive us, Lord, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Tame our tongues, O God, and let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in Your sight (Psalm 19:14).

We repent of our pride, our anger, and our selfishness. We have not always considered others as more important than ourselves, and we have not always walked in the humility of Christ. Lord, create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit within us (Psalm 51:10). Help us to put off the old self with its practices and to put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator (Colossians 3:9-10).

Father, we also lift up the sins of our nation before You. We have turned away from Your ways, and our land is in need of Your healing. We humble ourselves and pray, seeking Your face and turning from our wicked ways, as You have promised in 2 Chronicles 7:14. Forgive us, Lord, and heal our land. Raise up godly leaders, and let Your people be a light in the darkness.

We thank You for the trials You allow in our lives, for though they are not pleasant in the moment, they produce in us a harvest of righteousness and peace (Hebrews 12:11). Strengthen us, Lord, to endure with patience, knowing that You are working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). Help us to rejoice in our sufferings, for we know that suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4).

We ask for Your grace to renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and to fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called (Ephesians 4:1). Let us be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry (James 1:19), and may our words always be gracious, seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6).

Lord, we pray for one another, that we may confess our sins to each other and pray for each other, so that we may be healed (James 5:16). Let us bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in this posture of humility and repentance, for the Lord is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep abiding in Christ, for apart from Him, you can do nothing (John 15:5). But with Him, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Walk in the assurance that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). May you find strength in your weakness, and may the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast (1 Peter 5:10).

We hear the weight of this, and we see in your words a heart that genuinely longs to be conformed to Christ, not a surface-level wish, but the deep, sometimes painful desire to be done with the sin that still clings so closely. Thank you for your honesty. It takes humility to bring this into the open.

What stands out to us is your awareness of what happened in those moments when you “typed things with a mixture of emotions, even in anger.” It’s easy to feel defeated by a sharp tongue or a reactive keyboard, but genuine confession doesn’t leave us in the same place; it changes our direction. Often, anger flares up as a signal that something else is going on underneath, maybe a legitimate hurt, a fear, or deep frustration, that we haven’t yet named. God made that emotion, and it can alert us to pay attention before we speak or type. The step isn’t to stuff the anger, but to slow down enough to ask, “What’s really driving this right now?”

The difference between a sorrow that leads nowhere and a sorrow that leads to real change is what we do next. You’ve already named the specific action: the tongue, the keyboard, the mixture of emotions. When that flash of irritation comes, even a brief pause to identify the primary feeling can be a step of the Spirit. And you’ve pointed to something else that’s crucial, not wrestling this out alone. Finding a safe, mature believer you trust and simply saying, “Here’s what I did and what I was feeling” can break the cycle of hiddenness and bring the healing that confession promises.

We pray with you now:

Lord Jesus, we come with our brother, who longs for a heart and mouth that unreservedly honor You. Thank You that confession doesn’t trap us in guilt but opens the door to real change. In those split seconds when anger or pain rises, give him a holy pause, a breath to turn inward and bring the raw feeling to You before it becomes a word he regrets. Place trustworthy people around him who will hear him without condemnation, and let their prayers and presence be a steady anchor. He doesn’t need a delete button for the future; You are the one who sanctifies him step by step, and You will not let him go. We ask this in Your strong and merciful name. Amen.

The sorrow that now fills your heart is not the sorrow of the world that brings death, but a godly grief that leads to repentance without regret. Yes, "When I kept silent, my bones wasted away... for day and night your hand was heavy upon me." This is the blessed heaviness that drives the sinner to the cross. The very fact that you have no button to press, no easy deletion of future sin, is your safeguard. It keeps you upon your knees, clinging to the hem of Christ’s garment, where alone power is found in weakness.

You have rightly diagnosed your malady. The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity among our members. It defiles the whole body, sets on fire the course of life, and is set on fire by hell. That you have spoken what even true things lacked love, or that you forwarded words tainted with the anger of man, this is the very thorn in the flesh that makes you cry out for grace. But remember this: His grace is sufficient for you, and His strength is made perfect in this very weakness. Do not despair that you have not attained the mastery in a single day. The man lame from his mother's womb did not walk faultlessly the very moment strength came into his ankles; he leaped and walked and praised God. There is a holy progress. The Physician who probes the wound is the same who binds it up.

Watch now against a false peace. Judas confessed and went and hanged himself. That is the confession of remorse hardened into unbelief. Your confession, mingled with faith in the name of Jesus, is the lancet that lets out the foul matter and brings healing. Bring that unruly member, your tongue, daily to the altar. Say, "Lord, take away all iniquity, and receive me graciously; so will we render the calves of our lips." He who forged the tongue can tame it, and often He does so by making us feel how utterly impotent we are to bridle it without Him. That felt impotence is your power, for it submerges pride and leaves you clinging to Christ alone.

Therefore, let the trial of your speech work its perfect work. The affliction that follows a hasty word is not pleasant at present, but afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness. Let it teach your ears to be swift to hear and your tongue to be slow to speak. The Lord disciplined you sorely, but He has not given you over to death; it was good for you to be afflicted, that you might learn His statutes. Look not now upon your multiplied transgressions as if they stood against you unpardoned, for the blood of Christ is of infinite efficacy. But let them stand behind you as a warning, that you may walk softly before the Lord all your days.

And as you have confessed your sins, so know that your prayer for the healing of our land is heard in the ear of the Lord of Sabaoth. When a child of God humbles himself and prays and seeks God's face, turning from his own wicked way, he becomes a conduit for blessing. The answer begins with the one who prays. Your tongue, now cleansed afresh in the fountain, can speak a word in season to the weary and utter the soft answer that turns away wrath. You have asked for grace to renew your mind; take it then from the storehouse of His promise. He who gave you the will to press that absent button, that longing for holiness, will not mock that desire by leaving you to yourself. His power is perfected, in you and through you, precisely where you are weakest. Take courage; He has overcome, and you shall reign with Him, your tongue becoming not a world of iniquity but a world of praise.

The tongue that is set on fire of hell cannot be tamed by mere human resolve, but you who cry out for holiness have already begun to lay hold of God's feet with your speech. Train your tongue, then, to speak good words. It was given not for reviling or calumny, but to sing hymns and to utter what gives grace to the hearers, words for building up, words full of gentleness and meekness. When you bring forth the precious from the vile, you shall be as God's own mouth.

Do not marvel that you are grieved by this warfare. Even Paul entreated the Lord three times and did not obtain the removal of his thorn, but heard instead, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness." He learned to take pleasure in infirmities, and so must you. For what men suppose to be a weakness or a detraction becomes a confirmation of the gospel when endured for God's sake. Your open confession, your weeping over words spoken in anger, this is a good confession after the pattern of Christ before Pilate. Only see that your prayer is not with the spirit alone, unfruitful in understanding, but that you pray that you may interpret, that your mind may be edified and others profited. To speak in a tongue without interpretation is to speak into the air; but one who prays with the understanding builds up both himself and the hearers.

Therefore, when you are reviled, bless; when you are despitefully used, pray. Let your speech imitate the tongue of Christ, who said to his insulters, "If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil." Give thanks in everything, for both comfort and affliction come from the same hand. He who allows the trial provides the grace, and your bonds, your weaknesses, your very stumblings become the stage where His power is perfected. Naked you came into this world, and naked you shall depart; do not seek a glory that you did not bring with you. Rather, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, confessing your sins to one another, and the prayers of the righteous will avail much for your healing. The discipline is painful now, but afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. He who said, "I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not," is the same who ever lives to intercede, and His grace is sufficient in every time of need. So let your tongue become an instrument of righteousness, speaking only what edifies, and you shall find that in your very weakness the power of Christ rests upon you.
