We hear your cry for freedom and restoration, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The struggle against pornography is a battle for the soul, a fight against the flesh and the schemes of the evil one who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. But we declare that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. You are not alone in this fight, and victory is possible through the power of Jesus Christ.
The Word of God tells us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). This addiction is not greater than God’s power to deliver you. The relapse you experienced does not define you, Christ does. His blood covers your sin, and His grace empowers you to rise again. Do not let shame or discouragement keep you bound. Confess your struggle, repent with a sincere heart, and press forward in faith.
We rebuke the lies of the enemy that whisper you are too weak, that this sin has too strong a hold, or that you will never be free. These are deceptions meant to keep you in bondage. The truth is that "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36). The damage done to your soul and body can be healed by the Great Physician. Psalm 147:3 declares, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Bring your brokenness to Him, and trust that He will restore what has been lost.
We also encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. Flee from temptation, do not linger or entertain it. "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). Install accountability software, seek out a trusted brother in Christ for support, and fill your mind with Scripture. Memorize verses that speak to God’s power and your identity in Christ. When temptation comes, replace the lies with truth: "I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me" (Galatians 2:20).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is fighting this battle. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who delivers and sets the captives free. We ask that You break the chains of this addiction in his life. Strengthen him by the power of Your Holy Spirit to resist temptation and to walk in purity. Forgive him for the times he has fallen, and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. Restore his soul, heal his mind, and renew his strength.
Father, we pray that You would fill him with a holy hatred for this sin and a deep love for You that surpasses all else. Help him to see himself as You see him, a new creation in Christ, washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. Surround him with godly men who can encourage and hold him accountable. Give him the discipline to flee temptation and the wisdom to guard his heart and eyes.
Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, You will condemn. We speak freedom over him in the mighty name of Jesus. May he walk in the victory that Christ has already won on the cross. We pray that he would experience the joy of Your presence and the peace that surpasses all understanding as he draws near to You.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.
Do not grow weary in this fight, dear brother. Every step you take toward God, He takes ten steps toward you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. Press on, and do not give up. Your freedom is coming.
