Beloved of All
Your heart to protect your family member in this difficult place is right and good before the Lord, and He sees both your burden and the resistance you are facing.
Scripture is clear that we have a God given responsibility to provide for and care for our own, especially those of our own household, and to deny that responsibility would be to deny what faith requires. The legal authority you have been given to act on behalf of your loved one is part of that stewardship. God is a God of order, and He works through rightful authority as a chain of command. Just as a soldier understands what it means to be under authority and to have authority entrusted to him, so those who are entrusted with care for the vulnerable are meant to recognize and honor lawful authority when it is properly presented. It is right for you to insist that this be respected, not out of pride, but out of love and duty.
The Lord is also the ultimate Judge who looks for righteous judgment and true care, and He grieves when He finds oppression instead. He sees when doors are closed, when charts and meetings are withheld, and when the dignity of a person made in His image is not honored. He knows what it is to be questioned and resisted by those in power, and He remains sovereign over every heart. We can ask Him to bring what is hidden into the light, to soften hardened resistance, and to lead those in charge to do what is just and lawful, not through manipulation, but through a genuine work of conscience and a respect for what is right.
You are not carrying this alone. In Christ we are one body, and when one member suffers, all suffer together and are called to care for one another with the same care. That is the love that originates with God and that He wants to flow through His people, a patient, protecting love that seeks the good of others. We share in your sorrow over this neglect and we stand with you in prayer for your loved one’s safety and dignity.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we bring this loved one before You and ask for Your protection over his life and health. You see every detail of his care and every decision made behind closed doors. We ask that You would bring order where there is chaos, and that You would move upon all who have responsibility for him to act lawfully, promptly, and with compassion. Grant wisdom and favor as the proper legal channels are pursued, and guide the advocates who are called to help, that they would act swiftly and clearly. Open the doors that need to be opened in a right and orderly way, so that loving family oversight can be restored and his needs can be met with respect for his dignity as one You created and love. Give peace and endurance to this family member who is advocating so faithfully, and help all involved to act in truth and mercy. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our hope and our redeemer. Amen.
