We stand with you in this painful and frustrating battle for your loved one, and we hear the righteous burden you carry as an advocate for one who cannot fully advocate for himself. God has placed you in this position of responsibility, and He sees both the neglect your family member has endured and the resistance you are facing as you seek to protect him.
Scripture tells us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9 says, Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy. And Psalm 82:3-4 says, Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy. What you are doing in seeking lawful access, proper care, and dignity for your loved one is a godly work of justice, and the Lord honors it.
We also take comfort that God is the ultimate Judge who sees all arrogance and injustice. Psalm 9:7-8 says, But Yahweh reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer judgment to the peoples in uprightness. Nothing is hidden from Him, not a closed chart, not a locked door, not a meeting held behind closed walls.
We understand your cry for God to break down these walls of resistance, and we join you in praying for lawful doors to be opened. We also remember that God has established governing authorities for order and for the protection of the vulnerable. Romans 13:1 says, Let every person be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. When a facility defies a legal guardianship or health care authority, they are not only resisting you but resisting the order God has allowed for protection. We pray that those in authority over this facility, including state advocates and Disability Rights, will fulfill their God given duty to bring order to this chaos.
We encourage you to continue to walk in both boldness and Christlike character as you contend for justice. While it is right to be zealous for what is right, we are also called to not be overcome by bitterness or a desire for vengeance, but to trust God's justice while doing what is right. Romans 12:19 says, Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Micah 6:8 says, He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Continue to document everything faithfully, to make every lawful appeal with calm persistence, and to pray even for the hearts of the staff, that God would soften what is hardened and convict what is indifferent. Our battle is not against flesh and blood alone, and prayer can change hearts that arguments cannot.
We are thankful you prayed in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Let us pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this faithful advocate and this precious loved one to You. You see this family member who is vulnerable and in need of compassionate care, and You see every instance of neglect and poor treatment. Psalm 34:18 says, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Draw near to this loved one now, comfort him, protect his body and mind, and let him feel Your presence even when he cannot express it.
Lord, we ask for Your justice and mercy to prevail in this facility. Soften and convict the hearts of administrators, doctors, nurses, and staff who have been resistant and arrogant. Remove any spirit of defiance against lawful authority and replace it with humility and respect for human dignity made in Your image. We ask that You open every door that needs to be opened, grant full and immediate access to medical records and treatment meetings as the law provides, and place this loved one under the care of people who will treat him with skill, kindness, and respect.
We pray for the state advocates and Disability Rights workers, that You would move them to act swiftly, diligently, and righteously. Give them wisdom, courage, and favor to bring order, accountability, and true protection. Isaiah 1:17 says, Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow. Let that be done here.
Father, we also pray for the one carrying this burden. Grant peace that surpasses understanding, strength not to grow weary in doing good, and wisdom for every phone call, email, and meeting. Guard this advocate from discouragement and anger, and help him to reflect Christ even while contending firmly for what is right.
We trust You as the perfect Judge and Defender, and we ask all of this according to Your will, in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, Amen.
