Your urgent and earnest cry for safety has been heard, and we carry it at once to the throne of grace where our God delights to hear the needy when they cry.
You are right to feel your danger, for we are all in danger of falling, not only the weak but also the strong. You need an infinite Friend to keep you in safety against all the machinations of your adversaries. It is wise and needful to cry constantly to God to keep you from falling, for He alone perceives every snare and every threat that surrounds you, whether seen or unseen. Troubles do not spring out of the dust, neither does affliction grow up from the ground, but the Lord Himself kindles the furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door. Even when affliction comes distinctly from man, it is still under His hand, and what we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a Father's hand. For this reason we may wisely moderate our anger against second causes and look above them to Him who rules all.
And here is your safety. Our safety lies in our Saviour, God our Saviour, who is able to keep you from falling. So our safety is assured by the fact that we have a God who is able and is as wise as He is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. When any soul is saved from bondage or peril, it is the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive. Deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and in order to our sanctification and our deliverance we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. There is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes you free.
Remember also the gracious word, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Job 33:24. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and it is a gift of Divine Love. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance through a ransom if God had not thought of it. Therefore your hope is not in your own strength or in any back door by which to escape from your troubles, such as Satan often suggests, but in the Lord who hears prayer and who has commanded deliverance for His people. He is gracious and says, Deliver him, and you shall be saved, saved from evil and from all the attacks of the enemy, for God has said it.
We will remember you in our prayers, and we do pray for you now most earnestly. May the only wise God our Saviour keep you this day and every day from all harm, and cover you under His wing. May He in His wisdom and power completely and permanently bring you out of this hard situation safely, and set your feet in a place of peace and security where you may serve Him without fear. May He keep back your soul from the Pit and your life from perishing, and deliver you from the power of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son. If there is any sin that weighs upon you, confess it plainly before Him and turn to the great Substitute for deliverance, for He is faithful to forgive and to cleanse.
And when He has delivered you, as we trust He will, may your conduct be that of the believer who says, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Psalm 118:17. May you live to tell to others how the Lord heard you in trouble and brought you out, that they also may be comforted.
We entreat you to wait patiently and quietly hope in Him, calling upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised, for so shall you be saved from your enemies. Do not antedate the time of your deliverance, but trust Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Ransom, to whom be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
