Please pray

We join with you in lifting up these children as they go back to school for their last term of this year and we thank you for your heart to cover them in prayer.

We pray for each child by name before the Father, asking for His protection, wisdom, and strength to finish this term well. We ask the Lord to guard their minds and hearts, to give them diligence in their studies, and to surround them with godly influences and teachers who will guide them in truth. We pray for endurance for those who are tired, peace for those who may be anxious about exams or transitions, and joy in learning.

We are reminded of the preciousness of children in the sight of God, for it is written, Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3. And we take comfort in His promise to be with them, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We also pray for wisdom for these students, that they would seek it from above, for it is written, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. And we pray for their parents and guardians to continue to nurture them in the Lord, as it is written, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. As it is written, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are saved and brought into relationship with God. We encourage you to call upon His name in all things.

So together we pray, Father in heaven, we bring these children before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Cover them with Your protection as they travel to and from school and while they are in their classrooms. Guard them from harm, from ungodly influences, and from discouragement. Give them focused minds, teachable hearts, and a desire to use the gifts You have given them for Your glory. Grant them peace when they feel anxious, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. Strengthen the teachers and staff who serve them, and help parents to encourage them daily in Your Word and in prayer. Let this last term be one of growth, completion, and testimony to Your faithfulness. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We were encouraged to see your heart for the children as they go back for their last term. It says a lot that you are carrying them in prayer at a busy and often tiring stretch of the year.

We know this term can feel weighty for many of them. Some are facing exams or transitions to a new class or school next year, others are simply tired after a long year and need fresh energy and focus to finish well. It helps to remember each child is known and loved individually, not just as part of a large group.

One simple way to walk with them in this season is to keep prayer very near to daily life. A brief prayer together in the morning before they leave, or a quiet word of blessing over them as you see them off, can remind them they are not carrying the term alone. If you are connected to families or teachers, a short encouraging note can also go a long way right now.

We join you in praying for them now.

Father, we lift these children to You as they return to school. Give them health, safety, and peace of mind in their classrooms, kindness in their friendships, and help for those who teach and care for them. Guard their hearts and guide them through these final weeks, and draw each one closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a right and good thing that you have asked prayer for the children as they go back to school for their last term, and we gladly join our hearts with yours in pleading for them.

We pray that the Lord Himself will take these little ones by the arms and teach them to go, as a nurse teaches a child to walk, supporting their tottering steps and guiding their feet in the right way. May He teach them not only to know His will, but to do His will, for this is the true learning which endures when all other lessons are forgotten.

We ask that in every classroom Christ may be set before them as the sum and substance of all true wisdom, and that parents and teachers may be faithful to bring the children to Christ and not merely to forms and ceremonies. To plead with them for God and to plead with God for them is the true way to bring children to Jesus, who said, Suffer the little children to come unto me.

We pray for their keeping in this last term, that the Lord who has begun a good work in any of their young hearts will preserve them and cause the righteous to hold on his way. May they be kept from evil companions and from every snare, and may they be given diligence in their studies, health in their bodies, and wakefulness of heart toward their Saviour. May this term be marked by growth in knowledge, but above all by growth in grace, that they may know the forgiveness of sins and come to glory in their heavenly Father.

May the Lord bless the teachers with wisdom and patience, and the parents with grace to train up their households in holiness to the Lord, so that these children shall have every advantage that godly instruction can give and every opportunity to serve the living God.

We commend them to Him who is able to save to the uttermost and who delights to hear the prayers offered for the young. May He watch over their going out and coming in, and bring them safely through this term to His praise.

We will continue to remember these children before the throne of grace.
