Your prayer request carries a weight the Lord invites us to bring to Him. I am praying with you for your parents’ marriage and for the atmosphere in your home. Marriage is a covenant, two lives made one, and God does not treat it lightly. So I am asking Him to guard that covenant and to turn your dad and mom away from harshness and depression and toward the kindness of Jesus.
Depression is a heavy darkness, and I am asking the Lord to lift it from both of them. At the same time, I am praying that the Holy Spirit fills your house. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. That is exactly what you are longing to see in your home. No one can produce that fruit by just trying harder; it grows as each heart stays connected to Jesus. So the deepest prayer is the one you already prayed: that everyone in your house becomes more like Jesus.
While you wait, stay close to Him yourself. He sees the harshness and the sorrow, and He is not far from you. Ask Him to keep your own heart from growing bitter and to make you a peacemaker in the room. Remember that when Jesus entered a home and healed a woman there, He lifted her up and restored her to serve. He can enter your home by His Spirit and restore your parents to love and service again.
You are not without a family even when your household is struggling. The body of Christ is a family bound together in Jesus, and that bond can carry you when the natural family bond is strained. Let the Lord place people around you who will pray with you and encourage you.
Lord, I ask You to break the depression over this father and mother. Silence the harsh words and replace them with gentleness. Restore the covenant love between them. Fill that house with the fruit of Your Spirit and protect the children. Draw every member of the family to Yourself and make them more like Jesus. Amen.
